Higham (Higham etc). 1313. Grant from John Bole of Higham (Heyham) to John Fyzs and Sara his wife, for a sum of money, of two half-acres of arable land, in the field of Heyham, one half-acre lying between the lands of John Wayssepail and Humfrey of Palegrue, and abutting on the lands of Thomas of Passelewe, and Roger Aleyn, the other half-acre lying between the lands of John Wayssepail and John Wayssepail, jun., and abutting on the land of Humfrey of Palegraue, and on 'le fyldeweye'. Dated at Higham (Heyham), Sunday [16 Dec.] next after the feast of St Lucy, Virgin, 7 Ed. II [1313]. Witnesses: Thomas, son of Thomas, Roger Robbe, Robert Passelewe, Walter of Saham, Walter la Kersonere of Gaysle, Thomas (Smith) 'Fabro' of the same, Robert 'Clerico'(?) of the same, and others. Higham. 1313-1314. Grant from Walter of Saham, of the parish of Higham (Gaysle) to John Fyss of Higham (Heyham) and Sarra his wife, for a sum of money, of an acre of arable land in the fields of Heyham, lying between the land of Adam (the shepherd) 'Bercar' and that of Walter le Fader, and abutting on the high road, towards the field called Walhepes, and on the heath called 'le Schottehetz'. Dated at Higham (Heyham) on Thursday [14 March] after the feast of St Gregory, Pope. 7 Edw. II [1313-1314.] Witnesses. Thomas Passelewe, Thomas the son of Thomas, Robert Passelewe, Walter le Kersener, Reginald of Gaysle, Thomas (Smith) Faber', Walter Sparke, Robert of Howedene, Walter le Mercer. The seal is wanting.

Higham. 1314-1315. Grant from Richard (the Cowherd) 'dictus Vaccarius' of Higham (Heyham), and Margery his wife, to John Fyhs, and Sarra his wife, for a certain sum of money, of a piece of arable land in the field of Heyham, called Clynekebellecrofte, between the lands of the said Richard and the said John, abutting at one end, on the land of the said John, and at the other, on the messuage of Peter Treiaumbe: with a rood of arable land in the croft of the said Richard, between his land and that of the said John, abutting, at one end, on the said Richard's messuage, and, at the other, on the highway from Kenteforde to [Bury] St Edmund's. Dated at Higham (Heyham), Sunday [19 Jan.], after the feast of St Hilary, 8 Ed. II [1314-1315]. Higham 1316. Grant from Maud (Matildis), widow of John Blakenger of Higham (Heyham, of the parish of Gaysle) , to Albric Perdric of Denham St Mary (Denham), chaplain, a sum of money, of a messuage in the hamlet of Heyham, lying between the messuage of Loteman le Waleys, and the land of John Fych, upon which one end abuts, while the other abuts upon the highway. Dated at Higham (Heyham), Sunday [16 May] before the feast of St Dunstan, Bishop, 9 Edw. II [1316]. Witnesses: Thomas Passelewe, Thomas son of Thomas, John Fych, Water of Saham, Roger Robbe, and others. The seal is wanting. Endorsed: De Matild' Blakynger.

Higham (Higham etc). 1321. Release from Hugh le Couherde of Higham (Heyham), to John Fych of the same, of 2d. yearly rent, which the said Hugh once acquired from Stephen Hunderwode, payable from half an acre of land, in the field called 'le Douns', which the said Hugh has sold to the said John. Dated at Higham (Heyham), Sunday, the feast of Pentecost, 14 Ed. II [7 June, 1321]. Witnesses: John Passelewe, Thomas son of Thomas, Robert Passelew, Roger Robbe, Richard Atemonkes, and others. Higham (Higham etc). 1340-1341. Power of attorney from Richard atte Monekis of Higham (Heyham), to John, his son, to deliver Thomas, also son of the said Richard, seisin of a messuage in Gaysle, with 15 acres of arable land in the fields of Gaysle, Heyham and Nedaham. Dated, at Higham (Heyham) on Wednesday [14 March] after the feast of St Gregory, Pope, 15 Ed. III [1340-1341]. The seal is wanting. Endorsed: Relacacio Ricardi atte Munkes.

Higham. 1345. Indenture, by which Gilbert le Waleys of Higham (Heiham of the parish of Gaislee), grants and impledges to Thomas, son of Richard of Gaislee of Higham (Heiham) , and John Fyche of the same, for 100s., all lands and tenements held by him in the vill and fields of Heyham, from the date of this indenture, to the feast of St Margaret the Virgin next following, when he may recover possession by repaying the money. Dated at Higham (Heiham), on Palm Sunday, 19 Edw. III [20 March, 1345]. Witnesses: Thomas Passelewe; Thomas son of Thomas, Thomas son of Margaret, Robert of Honedene, Thomas Nichole, and others. Release from Edmund, son of Thomas of Heigham in the parish of Gazeley (Gayslee), to Amicia , daughter of Thomas, son of Thomas of Heigham, of his right in lands, tenements etc., held by her in Heigham, Gazeley (Gaislee), Needham Street (Nedham), and Cavenham (Cauenham), as described in a charter of enfeoffment drawn up for her by Andrew of Swafham, and Thomas Clayton of Gazeley (Gayslee), chaplains: also in a messuage, building, curtilage, and 5 acres of arable land, which she claims to hold in Heigham, by gift from Richard Vsflet, perpetual vicar of Gazeley (Gayslee), Robert of Honedene, and John Fiches of Higham (Heigham); which messuage lies next to the tenement of Agnes Rolff, on one side, and to the messuage of Edmund, son of Thomas, son of Thomas, on the other; and one part of the land and curtilage lies between the land of Robert [Her?]yng, jun., and that of the said Edmund: and 3 acres lie in 'le [com]unne'(?) next to the land of the said Edmund; and one acre at Felleberne. Grant from John Godefrey of Great Bradley or Little Bradley (Bradeleye), to Robert Heryngen, jun., of Higham (Heiham, of the parish of Gayslee), of an acre of arable land in the fields of Heiham, lying next to the land once held by John Priour, with one end abutting on the land of Thomas, son of Thomas. Dated at Gazeley (Gaysle) on Easter Day, 23 Edw. III [12 April, 1349]. Witnesses: John Priour, Stephen Chapman, John le Smyht, Gilbert Waleys, John Mose, John Fych, and others. The seal is wanting.

Higham. 1350-1351. Grant from John Fyche of Higham (Heyham), to William Salle, of the half of a house with curtilage adjoining, once held by John, son of Roger Cristemase, lying between the messuage once held by Margaret Stone, and the tenement of John son of Robert of Honedene, abutting at one end, on 'le Ouertoungreue'. Dated, at Higham (Heyham), Thursday, the feast of St Mathias Apostle, 25 Ed. III [24 Feb. 1350-51]. Witnesses: John Buntyng, Edmund Buntyng, John Smythe, John Spayne, John Treiambe, and others. Higham. 1354. Indenture by which John White and Maud his wife granting pledge to Richard Colat, a messuage called Streiteshous, on condition that it shall be restored to them, with all improvements, at any time, on payment of 10 l. Dated at Higham (Heiham), Sunday [27 April] after the feat of St Mark the Evangelist, 28 Ed. III [1354] The seal is wanting.

Higham (Higham etc). 1359. Indenture made on Monday, the feast of the annunciation (25 March) 33 Edw. III (1359), by which Robert Hering, jun., pledges to Robert Meriel, for 100s, a messuage in Heiham, as described in a previous charter of enfeoffment. Dated at Higham (Heiham near Gaisle). The seal is wanting.

Higham. 1359. Grant from Edmund, son of Thomas of Heiham, to Emma his sister, of the same, of 1.5 acres of arable land in the field called 'le Breche', between the lands of the Earl of Stafford, and extending from the highway called 'Beriweie', to the (common) heath of Heiham. Dated at Higham (Heiham), Monday the feast of the Annunciation, 33 Ed. III [25 March, 1359]. Witnesses: John Bunting, Edmund Bunting, Thomas ate Monekes, John Treiambe, Richard Colat, Richard Spaine, John Fyche, and others. The seal is wanting.

Higham (Higham etc). 1384-1385. Grant from Matilda Heryng, widow of Robert Heryng of Higham (Heyham) , to Agnes, daughter of John Cartere, of the same, of one acre of arable land in the field of Heyham called Schyrdynhel (or Scherdenhelle), next to the land of Richard Spayne, abutting one side on the land of Thomas Heyham, and on the other on the highway called Chercheweye. Dated at Higham (Heyham) on Wednesday [2 Feb.] after the feast of St Agatha Virgin, 8 Ric. II [1384-1385]. Witnesses: Thomas Heyham, John Lote, Richard Colet, Nicholas Taylour, Robert Fleptone, and others. The seal is wanting.

Higham. 1387. Grant from John Lilye of Barrow (Barwe), to Thomas of Heigham, jun., of Higham (Heigham), John of Heigham, vicar of Gazeley (Gaysle), Robert Warner of the same, and John Magarde, chaplain, of 2 messuages with 8 acres of arable land in the vill and fields of Heigham: one messuage with 6 acres of land, in an adjacent croft, called Harschankescrofts, lies in the vill of Heigham between the messuage of the Earl of Stafford, once held by Andrew Proudsfote, and that once held by Baroune, with one end abutting on 'le Nertoungreue'; the other, called 'Clerkes', with half an acre of land, in a croft adjoining Fouches the messuage of John Lote on both sides, with one end abutting on the highway: half an acre of land lies in Schortecrofte, next to the land of John Aleyn, and abuts thereon: and one acre lies in the field called Punchefelde, next to the land once held by Richard atte Monkes, on the north. Dated, at Higham (Heigham) on Monday [19 Aug] after the feast of Assumption of the B.V.M., 11 Ric. II [1387]. Grant from Thomas Heigham and John Lelye to John, son of John Fyche, and Alice his sister of 2 messuages, and 40 acres of arable land, lying in the vill and fields of Heigham, which are held by gift of John Fyche, sen., with remainder to Alice and her assigns. Dated at Higham (Heigham), Monday [5 Oct.] after the feast of St Michael, 12 Ric. II [1388]. Witnesses: Thomas of Clare, Thomas, son of Thomas of Heigham, Robert le Warner, Thomas Baldoke, John Lote, and others. The two seals are wanting.

Grant from Robert le Warner of Higham (Heigsham, in the parish of Gayselee), to Thomas of Heigsham, jun., Walter, perpetual vicar of Cavenham (Kauenham), John Calwe (or Calwaue) of Barrow (Barwe), and John Sparkforde, called Spore of Bertone, next Mildenhall (Mildenhale), chaplain, of 3 roods of arable land in the crofts of Heighsham, by the lands of the said Thomas, abutting to the north, on the land of John Lote, and to the south on the land of John Aleyn; which 3 roods lately belonged to Alice, daughter of John Fysshe. Dated at Higham (Heigsham) on Thursday, the feast of the Holy Innocents, 20 Ric. II [28 Dec. 1396]. Release from William Farewelle, parson of Great and Little Chesterford (Chesterforde [Essex]), Richard Smythe, parson of Suthrleye [Lincoln], William Parkere, parson of the church of Llanwenarth (Llanwaynarde [Monmouth]), and John Freberne of Fulbourn (Fulburne [Cambridge]), jun., to Thomas Persone of Nedham, and Margaret his wife, of all lands, tenements, etc. claimed by the said grantors in Needham Street (Nedham), Kentford (Kenteforde), and Higham (Heigham), which they had from Thomas of Heigham, and which once belonged to William [mutilation] Dated at Needham Street (Nedham) on Monday the feast of St Edmund, King, 9 Ric.
