Higham. 1347. Release from Edmund, son of Thomas of Heigham in the parish of Gazeley (Gayslee), to Amicia , daughter of Thomas, son of Thomas of Heigham, of his right in lands, tenements etc., held by her in Heigham, Gazeley (Gaislee), Needham Street (Nedham), and Cavenham (Cauenham), as described in a charter of enfeoffment drawn up for her by Andrew of Swafham, and Thomas Clayton of Gazeley (Gayslee), chaplains: also in a messuage, building, curtilage, and 5 acres of arable land, which she claims to hold in Heigham, by gift from Richard Vsflet, perpetual vicar of Gazeley (Gayslee), Robert of Honedene, and John Fiches of Higham (Heigham); which messuage lies next to the tenement of Agnes Rolff, on one side, and to the messuage of Edmund, son of Thomas, son of Thomas, on the other; and one part of the land and curtilage lies between the land of Robert [Her?]yng, jun., and that of the said Edmund: and 3 acres lie in 'le [com]unne'(?) next to the land of the said Edmund; and one acre at Felleberne. Dated at Thaxted (Thaxstede) on the feast of SS. Philip and James, 21 Edw III [1 May 1347]. Witnesses: John Benge, Robert Cartere, Nicholas Cartere of Thaxted (Thoxsteds), Hugh Welde, John Fiche, and others. The seal is wanting.
