Gazeley. 1272. Lease from William Tillop and his wife to Alexander Bateman, for one mark, paid as fine, of 3 half-acres of arable land in the vill of Gaysle, lying in the field called Wetecrofte, between the lands of Dom. William le Bowle and Walter, son of the late Alexander (Taylor) of Gazeley (Gaysle) , and abutting on the fee of Multone, and on the land of the prior of Stochis; rendering yearly 1 lb. of wax at Christmas to the church of Gaysle, and 1/2 lb. to the church of Kentford (Kentefords), and 3 d. to the canons of Teford, 1.5 d. at Michaelmas, and 1.5 d. at Easter. Dated, 57 Hen. III [between 28 Oct. and 16 Nov. 1272]. Witnesses: John le Beuelere, Walter the Clerck, William Warin, Hugh le Warnir, Robert Passelewe, Robert de Bosco, and many others. Gazeley. 1299. Grant from William Sperling of Needham Street (Nedham) to John Fiss and Sarra his wife, for a certain sum of money, of an acre of arable land called "le Doune" in the fields of Higham (Heyham), of which half an acre lies between the land late of Alan (the Reaper) 'Messor' and that of John Aleyn abutting on 'le Feldwoye' [sic] and on the land of the abbot of St Osilth; and the other half acre between the lands of Ralph le Neweman and Richard Proudfot. Dated at Gazeley (Gaysle) on Friday (9 Oct) after the feast of St Faith Virgin 27 Edward I (1299). Witnesses. Thomas Passelewe, Walter le Mercer, Alexander Baston, Walter de la Kersonere, William Sparke, Thomas son of 'Fabr', Henry le Beusler, Richard (the Cowherd) 'Vaccario', Roger the clerk, and others. Gazeley. 1315. Grant from Robert le Waleys of Higham (Heyham) to John Fyhs[sic] and Sarra his wife and William their son, for a certain sum of money, of an acre of arable land in the parish of Gaisle in a field called "le Doune" between the lands of Hugh le Couherde and Margery le Heyward, abutting on the lands of Thomas Egeline of the said John Fyhs. Dated at Higham (Heyham) on Tuesday [27 May] after the feast of St Augustine of the English. 8 Edw. II (1315). Witnesses. Thomas Passeleu, Walter de Saham, Thomas son of Thomas, Roger Robbe, Albric the Clark and others. The seal is wanting.

Gazeley. 1365. Grant from Henry ate Fen of Gaislee, to John Ikedy, chaplain, Walter the clerck, and John Fyche, of all his lands, tenements and rights of pasture and foldage, in the vills of Gaislee, Needham Street (Nedham by Gaislee), Kentford (Kenteforde), Moulton (Multone), and Monk Soham (Daham [Saham]). Dated at Gaisle on Friday [12 Sept.] before the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, 39 Ed. III [1365]. Witnesses: John Bunting, Edmund Bunting, John ate Howe, James Mose, John Mose, and others. The seal is wanting.

Gazeley. 1381. Release from Christiana, widow of William Brochslan of Clare to Robert of Kedytone, Richard Perfey, and Geoffrey Brochole, of her right in the lands and tenements formerly in the possession of the said William, John Talmage and Agnes Nichole, in the vills and fields of Needham Street (Nedham), Gayslee, Kentford (Kenteforde), Kennett (Kenyt), and Moulton (Multone). Dated at Clare on Sunday [22 Dec.] after the feast of St Thomas Apostle, 5 Richard II [1381]. Endorsed. "Nicoles in Nedham." The seal is wanting.

Higham. 1347. Release from Edmund, son of Thomas of Heigham in the parish of Gazeley (Gayslee), to Amicia , daughter of Thomas, son of Thomas of Heigham, of his right in lands, tenements etc., held by her in Heigham, Gazeley (Gaislee), Needham Street (Nedham), and Cavenham (Cauenham), as described in a charter of enfeoffment drawn up for her by Andrew of Swafham, and Thomas Clayton of Gazeley (Gayslee), chaplains: also in a messuage, building, curtilage, and 5 acres of arable land, which she claims to hold in Heigham, by gift from Richard Vsflet, perpetual vicar of Gazeley (Gayslee), Robert of Honedene, and John Fiches of Higham (Heigham); which messuage lies next to the tenement of Agnes Rolff, on one side, and to the messuage of Edmund, son of Thomas, son of Thomas, on the other; and one part of the land and curtilage lies between the land of Robert [Her?]yng, jun., and that of the said Edmund: and 3 acres lie in 'le [com]unne'(?) next to the land of the said Edmund; and one acre at Felleberne. Higham. 1347. Grant from John Balle of Kentford (Kenteforde) to John Fyche of Higham (Heiham), and Alice his wife, of 6 acres of arable land in the fields of Kenteforde, between the land of the said John Balle, and that once held by Robert of Abbethorpe, and extending from the road called 'le Waterweye' to the common heath of Kenteforde and Needham Street (Nedham). Dated at Kentford (Kenteforde), Thursday the feast of the Ascension, 29 Ed. III [14 May, 1355] Witnesses: John Bunting, Edmund Bunting, John Hosteler, Alexander Sperlyng, John Gibbe, and others. Needham Street. 1299-1300. Grant from John Beuelers, of Needham Street (Nedham in the parish of Gaysile), to Beatrice his daughter, in consideration of a sum of money, of 6 acres of arable land in Nedham, 3 acres lying in the field called Wethercroft next to the land of the said John, and abutting thereon; 2 acres lying in Punchefeld, next tot he land of the lady 'Joyese' of Thelnetham, and abutting on the land of the said John; and 1 acre lying in Walkerescroft, next tot he land of Gilebert of Le Hay, and abutting on the land of Hugh (Smith) 'Fabri'. Dated at Needham Street (Nedham) on the feast of the Conversion of St Paul, 28 Ed. I [25 Jan. 1299-1300]. Needham Street (Needham-Street). 1302-1303. Grant from John de Beuelers of Needham Street (Nedham) to Walter Persoun of Moulton (Multone) and Beatrice his wife, for a certain sum of money, of half the lands and tenements held by him in the parish of Gazeley (Gaysle), with a messuage in the vill of Nedham, lying next to the messuage of William Berelowe, abutting on the highway and lying next to the Derenyngge road; of the land in the crofts, 3.5 acres lie at the upper part next to the land of William Sperlyng, abutting on the said Walter's messuage; half an acre lies in another croft, next to William Sperlyng's land, and abutting on his messuage; 1.5 acres lie on Gayslehel, next to the land of William Sperlyng, abutting at both ends on the land of the Earl of Gloucester; 1 acre lies in Heynhowe next to the land of William Sperlyng, abutting on the land of Robert (Smith) 'Fabri'; in Merebak lie 1.5 acres, next tot he land of William Sperlyng, and abutting on the land of John Crystemasse; in Punchefeld lie 3 acres at the upper part next to the land of William Sperlyng, and abutting on the land of Humfrey of Lacforde; in Wytefeld lie 3.5 acres at the upper part, next to the land of William Sperlyng, and abutting on the highway; in Weyercroft lies half an acre next to the land of William Sperlyng, and abutting on the highway; half an acre in the same lies next tot he land of William Sperlyng, abutting in land of Walter Persoun; 2.5 acres lie next to the land of William Sperlyng, and abut on Suht Heth; one acre, next to and abutting on the land of the same; in Karemere lie 1 acre and 1 rood, next to the land of William Sperlyng, adn abutting on 'Karemere pettes'; in Hauedlond lies half an acre next to the land of William Sperlyng, and abutting on the land of Robert (Smith) 'Fabri'; in Mereback lies 1 rood next to 'le felde weye', abutting on the land of John Kersoner. With these lands is the right of foldage bought from Alexander le Beneler of Gazeley (Gaysle), in the fields of Gazeley (Gaysle), Needham Street (Nedham), and Kentford (Kenteford). Needham Street (Needham-Street etc). 1315. Grant from Robert le Fole of Kentford (Kenteford), miller, to Walter Priour of Needham Street (Nedham, in the parish of Gayslee), and Petronilla his wife, for certain sum of money, of two acres of arable land, in four parcels, lying at the upper end of the parish of Gazeley (Gayslee), in the field called Caremenecroftes, next to the land of Thomas Beyllard, one end abutting on the common heath, the other on the land of Gilbert Mariscal. Dated at Needham Street (Nedham), Monday [1 Dec.] before the feast of St Nicholas, bishop and confessor, 9 Edw. II [1315]. Witnesses: Walter Mercer, William Sperlyng, Gilbert Mariscal, Richard le Warner, Ralph (Townsend) 'ad caput ville', John Dersoun, Robert (Smith) 'Fabro' of Needham Street (Nedham), and others. Needham Street (Needham-Street). 1317. Grant from Juliana, widow of Radulf 'ad caput ville' of Needham Street (Nedham) , to Walter Priour of the same, of 2.5 acres of arable land of which 2 acres lie in the crofts of Nedham in the west side, one at the upper end, lying between the land of Henry Pyle, and the fee of the Lady Cescilia Le Talemache, and abutting on a messuage once held by the said Radulf; which the half acre lies in Peinelnecroftis, on the east, between the land of Thomas Beylard of Kentford (Kenteford), bought from Walter le Marcer, and abutting on the messuage of John le Warner. Dated, at Needham Street (Nedham), Friday, the feast of St Botulf, abbot, 10 Ed. Needham-Street (Gazeley). 1323. Grant from Walter Persoun of Needham Street (Nedham) in the parish of Gazeley (Gayslee), and Beatrice, his wife, to Walter Priour of the same, Petronilla his wife, and John their son, for a certain sum of money, of the homage and fealty of Walter Clynckebelle of the same, with his service of 9 d. a year, which he was wont to pay for tenements holden in the parish of Gayslee; viz. for a messuage in Nedham next to the messuage of Maud Clynckebelle; and for 1.5 acres of arable land, in two parcels, in a place called Clynckebellescroftes, both next tot he land of the said Maud. Dated at Needham Street (Nedham), on [19 June] Sunday before the feast of the Nativity of St John Baptist, 16 Edw. Grant from Walter Persoun of Needham Street (Nedham, in the parish of Gayslee), and Beatrice his wife, to Walter Priour of the same, Petronilla his wife, and John their son. In a sum of money, of the homage of John de Boseo of Higham (Heyham), John Curteys and Maud Clynckebelle of Needham Street (Nedham), with their service of 12d. yearly from certain tenements holden of Walter Persoun, namely 4d. from one acre of arable land held by John de Bosco, in the field called Walkerescrofthel, next to the land of the prior of Stoke, held by John Walkefure in villenage, and abutting in Priour's land, and on the land of Robert (Smith) "Fabri", and 4d. for two pieces of arable land, held by Maud Clynckebelle, lying in the same place, next to the land of Walter le Mercer, and Robert (Smith) "Fabri", abutting on the messuage of the said Maud, and on the land of the prior of Stoke. Dated at Needham Street (Nedham), Thursday of the feast of St Thomas Apostle, 17 Ed. II [22 December, 1323]. Needham Street (Needham-Street). 1327. Grant from Walter Persoun of Needham Street (Nedham) to Walter Priour of Gazeley (Gayslee), Petronilla his wife, and John their son, of a piece of arable land, in the croft of the said Walter persoun, and next to the land of the said Walter Priour with one and abutting on the land of the prior and convent of Stokes and in width one perch. Dated at Needham Street (Nedham), on Monday the feast of St Thomas Apostle, 1 Edw. III [21 Dec, 1327] Witnesses: Walter le Inercer, Robert of Hapetone, William Sperlyng, John Dersoun, John Aumener of Needham Street (Nedham), and others. The seal is wanting.

Needham Street (Needham-Street). 1328. Release from Agnes, widow of Thomas Sperlyng, of Needham Street (Nedham in the parish of Gayslee) , to William le Vacher of Cauenham, and Alice his sister, of her rights in a messuage in Nedham, with which her husband enfeoffed the said William and Alice. Dated, at Needham Street (Nedham) on Saturday [23 July], the morrow of St Mary Magdalen, 2 Ed. III [1328] The seal is wanting.

Needham Street (Needham-Street). 1338. Bond from John Aumener of Needham Street (Nedham) to Thomas Nichole of the same, undertaking for himself and his wife Joan, to pay to Thomas 40 shillings in the event of his being disppossessed, by writ at the plea of the said Joan, of 2.5 acres of land, wherewith John has enfeoffed him. Dated, at Needham Street (Nedham) on Friday [18 Sept.] after the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, 12 Ed. III [1338]

Needham Street (Needham-Street). 1348. Release from Margery Andrew of Moulton (Multone), to Thomas Nichole of Nedham, of her right in half an acre of land lying in Nedham, Benethen, Nedham Melne, next to the copyhold of Dom. William Talmache, and abutting on the common heath. Dated at Nedham on Saturday, the feast of the Holy Innocents, 22 Ed. III [28 Dec. 1348] Witnesses: John Priour, Walter Maschal, John le Smyth, Alexander Sperlyng, John Fyche, and others. The seal is wanting.

Needham Street (Needham-Street). 1359 . Grant from Alexander Wlphale, to William atte Fen of Needham Street (Nedham), and Agnes his wife, of 4 acres of arable land in the fields of Nedham and Kentford (Kenteforde), of which one acre lies next to the land of Dom. William of Claptone, with one end abutting on the land of Robert Berkelowe; two acres lie at Walkerescroftes next to the land of Dom. William Talemache, with one end abutting on 'le Waterweye'; and one acre lies in the same field next to the land of Alexander Sperlynge, also abutting on 'le Waterweye'. Dated, at Needham Street (Nedham) on Sunday before the feast of St Martin, Bishop and Confessor, 22 Ed.
