Higham (Higham etc). 1359. Indenture made on Monday, the feast of the annunciation (25 March) 33 Edw. III (1359), by which Robert Hering, jun., pledges to Robert Meriel, for 100s, a messuage in Heiham, as described in a previous charter of enfeoffment. Dated at Higham (Heiham near Gaisle). The seal is wanting.

Higham. 1359. Grant from Edmund, son of Thomas of Heiham, to Emma his sister, of the same, of 1.5 acres of arable land in the field called 'le Breche', between the lands of the Earl of Stafford, and extending from the highway called 'Beriweie', to the (common) heath of Heiham. Dated at Higham (Heiham), Monday the feast of the Annunciation, 33 Ed. III [25 March, 1359]. Witnesses: John Bunting, Edmund Bunting, Thomas ate Monekes, John Treiambe, Richard Colat, Richard Spaine, John Fyche, and others. The seal is wanting.

Higham (Higham etc). 1384-1385. Grant from Matilda Heryng, widow of Robert Heryng of Higham (Heyham) , to Agnes, daughter of John Cartere, of the same, of one acre of arable land in the field of Heyham called Schyrdynhel (or Scherdenhelle), next to the land of Richard Spayne, abutting one side on the land of Thomas Heyham, and on the other on the highway called Chercheweye. Dated at Higham (Heyham) on Wednesday [2 Feb.] after the feast of St Agatha Virgin, 8 Ric. II [1384-1385]. Witnesses: Thomas Heyham, John Lote, Richard Colet, Nicholas Taylour, Robert Fleptone, and others. The seal is wanting.

Higham. 1387. Grant from John Lilye of Barrow (Barwe), to Thomas of Heigham, jun., of Higham (Heigham), John of Heigham, vicar of Gazeley (Gaysle), Robert Warner of the same, and John Magarde, chaplain, of 2 messuages with 8 acres of arable land in the vill and fields of Heigham: one messuage with 6 acres of land, in an adjacent croft, called Harschankescrofts, lies in the vill of Heigham between the messuage of the Earl of Stafford, once held by Andrew Proudsfote, and that once held by Baroune, with one end abutting on 'le Nertoungreue'; the other, called 'Clerkes', with half an acre of land, in a croft adjoining Fouches the messuage of John Lote on both sides, with one end abutting on the highway: half an acre of land lies in Schortecrofte, next to the land of John Aleyn, and abuts thereon: and one acre lies in the field called Punchefelde, next to the land once held by Richard atte Monkes, on the north. Dated, at Higham (Heigham) on Monday [19 Aug] after the feast of Assumption of the B.V.M., 11 Ric. II [1387]. Higham (Higham etc). 1388. Grant from Thomas Heigham and John Lelye to John, son of John Fyche, and Alice his sister of 2 messuages, and 40 acres of arable land, lying in the vill and fields of Heigham, which are held by gift of John Fyche, sen., with remainder to Alice and her assigns. Dated at Higham (Heigham), Monday [5 Oct.] after the feast of St Michael, 12 Ric. II [1388]. Witnesses: Thomas of Clare, Thomas, son of Thomas of Heigham, Robert le Warner, Thomas Baldoke, John Lote, and others. The two seals are wanting.

Higham (Higham etc). 1396. Grant from Robert le Warner of Higham (Heigsham, in the parish of Gayselee), to Thomas of Heigsham, jun., Walter, perpetual vicar of Cavenham (Kauenham), John Calwe (or Calwaue) of Barrow (Barwe), and John Sparkforde, called Spore of Bertone, next Mildenhall (Mildenhale), chaplain, of 3 roods of arable land in the crofts of Heighsham, by the lands of the said Thomas, abutting to the north, on the land of John Lote, and to the south on the land of John Aleyn; which 3 roods lately belonged to Alice, daughter of John Fysshe. Dated at Higham (Heigsham) on Thursday, the feast of the Holy Innocents, 20 Ric. II [28 Dec. 1396]. Witnesses: John Pyckechese, Thomas Lote, Robert le Smythe of Higham (Heigsham), Walter 'Fana', John Brythwelle of Gazeley (Gayselee), and others. The seal is wanting.

Higham. 1445. Power of attorney from William Rykedoun of Cavenham to William Boltone to deliver to Thomas Godarde of Higham (Heigham), William Madour of the same, Walter Chapman of Needham Street (Nedham), and Thomas Keene of Gazeley (Gaysle), possession of a messuage, with 8 acres of arable land, in Heigham, lately held by the said Rukedoun in common with Hugh Hory of Higham (Heigham), now closed by the gift Robert le Warner of Higham (Heigham), John Pykchese of the same, and John Vmfray of Cavenham (Cauenham). Dated, 14 July, 23 Hen VI [1445]. Witnesses: Thomas Heigham, Thomas Cabolde, John Bray, Thomas Cooke, John Cooke of Higham (Heigham), and others.

Kentford. 1314. Grant from Thomas 'Syro' and Jueta his wife, of Needham Street (Nedham), to Walter Priour, Petronella his wife, and John their son, of two acres of arable land in Kenteforde called Schortelond, between the land of the prioress and convent of Marham and that required by the said Walter from the said Thomas and abutting on the meadow of the said Walter called Smalemedwe. Dated at Needham Street (Nedham), on Tuesday [12 Nov] after thefeast of St Martin, 8 Edw. II [1314]. Witnesses. Walter le Mercer, Gilbert le Marseah, John ate Berwe, John Howe, Ralph (Townsend) 'ad capud ville', Thomas Beylard, and others. The 2 seals are wanting.

Kentford. 1355. Grant from John Balle of Kentford (Kenteforde) to John Fyche of Higham (Heiham), and Alice his wife, of 6 acres of arable land in the fields of Kenteforde, between the land of the said John Balle, and that once held by Robert of Abbethorpe, and extending from the road called 'le Waterweye' to the common heath of Kenteforde and Needham Street (Nedham). Dated at Kentford (Kenteforde), Thursday the feast of the Ascension, 29 Ed. III [14 May, 1355] Witnesses: John Bunting, Edmund Bunting, John Hosteler, Alexander Sperlyng, John Gibbe, and others. The seal is wanting.

Mendlesham (Mendlesham etc). 1205-1235. Grant from Geoffrey Dorliens and Agatha his wife, to John, son of Roger Prech, of two acres of land, called Orlienescroft, held of the house of Snape at a yearly rent 16d. The said John is to pay a yearly rent of 16d. and half a pound of pepper, at the feast of the Assumption of the Virgin, and to be responsible to the prior and monks of Snape for the rent due to them; and has done homage and paid a fine of 19s. of silver [1205-35] Witnesses. Mettingham (Mettingham ). 1414. Final agreement between William Bernham, clerk, John Gerarde, clerk, William Paston, Thomas Stodhaghe, and William Gerarde, plaintiffs, and William Lyouns, and Joan his wife, deforciants, by which the latter grant to the former 15 acres of land, 2 acres of meadow, 2 acres of pasture, and 3 shillings rent, in Metyngham and Ilketshall (Ilketeshale), for 20 marks of silver. Dated within a month of the past of St Michael, 2 Hen. V [1414]: before Norton J.C.P.

Nayland. 1416. Final agreement between Henry Tomstone, vicar of Stokeneylonde, John Rysyng, John Chambre, and John Godynge, plaintiffs, and Thomas Mustarder, and Alice his wife, and Richard Wente, and Joan his wife, deforciants, by which the latter cede to the former 10 acres of land, an acre of alder-grove, with appurtenances in Neylonde, for 20 marks of silver. Completed within a month of Easter [19 April], 4 Hen. V [1416]: before Norton J.C.P.

Needham Street. 1299-1300. Grant from John Beuelers, of Needham Street (Nedham in the parish of Gaysile), to Beatrice his daughter, in consideration of a sum of money, of 6 acres of arable land in Nedham, 3 acres lying in the field called Wethercroft next to the land of the said John, and abutting thereon; 2 acres lying in Punchefeld, next tot he land of the lady 'Joyese' of Thelnetham, and abutting on the land of the said John; and 1 acre lying in Walkerescroft, next tot he land of Gilebert of Le Hay, and abutting on the land of Hugh (Smith) 'Fabri'. Dated at Needham Street (Nedham) on the feast of the Conversion of St Paul, 28 Ed. I [25 Jan. 1299-1300]. Needham Street (Needham-Street). 1302-1303. Grant from John de Beuelers of Needham Street (Nedham) to Walter Persoun of Moulton (Multone) and Beatrice his wife, for a certain sum of money, of half the lands and tenements held by him in the parish of Gazeley (Gaysle), with a messuage in the vill of Nedham, lying next to the messuage of William Berelowe, abutting on the highway and lying next to the Derenyngge road; of the land in the crofts, 3.5 acres lie at the upper part next to the land of William Sperlyng, abutting on the said Walter's messuage; half an acre lies in another croft, next to William Sperlyng's land, and abutting on his messuage; 1.5 acres lie on Gayslehel, next to the land of William Sperlyng, abutting at both ends on the land of the Earl of Gloucester; 1 acre lies in Heynhowe next to the land of William Sperlyng, abutting on the land of Robert (Smith) 'Fabri'; in Merebak lie 1.5 acres, next tot he land of William Sperlyng, and abutting on the land of John Crystemasse; in Punchefeld lie 3 acres at the upper part next to the land of William Sperlyng, and abutting on the land of Humfrey of Lacforde; in Wytefeld lie 3.5 acres at the upper part, next to the land of William Sperlyng, and abutting on the highway; in Weyercroft lies half an acre next to the land of William Sperlyng, and abutting on the highway; half an acre in the same lies next tot he land of William Sperlyng, abutting in land of Walter Persoun; 2.5 acres lie next to the land of William Sperlyng, and abut on Suht Heth; one acre, next to and abutting on the land of the same; in Karemere lie 1 acre and 1 rood, next to the land of William Sperlyng, adn abutting on 'Karemere pettes'; in Hauedlond lies half an acre next to the land of William Sperlyng, and abutting on the land of Robert (Smith) 'Fabri'; in Mereback lies 1 rood next to 'le felde weye', abutting on the land of John Kersoner. With these lands is the right of foldage bought from Alexander le Beneler of Gazeley (Gaysle), in the fields of Gazeley (Gaysle), Needham Street (Nedham), and Kentford (Kenteford). Dated at Needham Street (Nedham) on Monday [11 March] before the feast of St Gregory, Pope. 31 Ed. I [1302-1303]. Needham Street (Needham-Street etc). 1315. Grant from Robert le Fole of Kentford (Kenteford), miller, to Walter Priour of Needham Street (Nedham, in the parish of Gayslee), and Petronilla his wife, for certain sum of money, of two acres of arable land, in four parcels, lying at the upper end of the parish of Gazeley (Gayslee), in the field called Caremenecroftes, next to the land of Thomas Beyllard, one end abutting on the common heath, the other on the land of Gilbert Mariscal. Dated at Needham Street (Nedham), Monday [1 Dec.] before the feast of St Nicholas, bishop and confessor, 9 Edw. II [1315]. Witnesses: Walter Mercer, William Sperlyng, Gilbert Mariscal, Richard le Warner, Ralph (Townsend) 'ad caput ville', John Dersoun, Robert (Smith) 'Fabro' of Needham Street (Nedham), and others. Needham Street (Needham-Street). 1317. Grant from Juliana, widow of Radulf 'ad caput ville' of Needham Street (Nedham) , to Walter Priour of the same, of 2.5 acres of arable land of which 2 acres lie in the crofts of Nedham in the west side, one at the upper end, lying between the land of Henry Pyle, and the fee of the Lady Cescilia Le Talemache, and abutting on a messuage once held by the said Radulf; which the half acre lies in Peinelnecroftis, on the east, between the land of Thomas Beylard of Kentford (Kenteford), bought from Walter le Marcer, and abutting on the messuage of John le Warner. Dated, at Needham Street (Nedham), Friday, the feast of St Botulf, abbot, 10 Ed. II [17 June, 1317] Witnesses: Walter le Mercer, Gilbert of Honedene, William Sperling, Richard le Warner, Walter Persoun, Robert Fabr', Robert de Appetone, and others.

Needham-Street (Gazeley). 1323. Grant from Walter Persoun of Needham Street (Nedham) in the parish of Gazeley (Gayslee), and Beatrice, his wife, to Walter Priour of the same, Petronilla his wife, and John their son, for a certain sum of money, of the homage and fealty of Walter Clynckebelle of the same, with his service of 9 d. a year, which he was wont to pay for tenements holden in the parish of Gayslee; viz. for a messuage in Nedham next to the messuage of Maud Clynckebelle; and for 1.5 acres of arable land, in two parcels, in a place called Clynckebellescroftes, both next tot he land of the said Maud. Dated at Needham Street (Nedham), on [19 June] Sunday before the feast of the Nativity of St John Baptist, 16 Edw. II [1323] Witnesses: Walter le Mercer, Robert de Hapetone, William Sperlyng, Robert (Smith) "Fabro", John Derson, Richard le Warner, John Aumener of Needham Street (Nedham), and others. Grant from Walter Persoun of Needham Street (Nedham, in the parish of Gayslee), and Beatrice his wife, to Walter Priour of the same, Petronilla his wife, and John their son. In a sum of money, of the homage of John de Boseo of Higham (Heyham), John Curteys and Maud Clynckebelle of Needham Street (Nedham), with their service of 12d. yearly from certain tenements holden of Walter Persoun, namely 4d. from one acre of arable land held by John de Bosco, in the field called Walkerescrofthel, next to the land of the prior of Stoke, held by John Walkefure in villenage, and abutting in Priour's land, and on the land of Robert (Smith) "Fabri", and 4d. for two pieces of arable land, held by Maud Clynckebelle, lying in the same place, next to the land of Walter le Mercer, and Robert (Smith) "Fabri", abutting on the messuage of the said Maud, and on the land of the prior of Stoke. Dated at Needham Street (Nedham), Thursday of the feast of St Thomas Apostle, 17 Ed. II [22 December, 1323].
