SCHEPEHAL. Stephen de Wytteham, the prior, and convent of Wallingford grant to William called Gerneys of Hertforde and Richard his eldest son all tithes belonging to their church of Schepehal, etc., for three years for a payment of 24 marks of silver. Dated at Wallingford the Wednesday next after the Nativity of the Virgin, 9 Ed. II.

Holy Trinity, Wallingford.. Joan Corteys of W⟨allingford⟩ , widow grants to Thomas of Berewyk and Isabella his wife, a plot of land between her cottages in Corteyslane on the east side; 35 feet in width to the curtilege of Eustace the goldsmith towards the east and reaching Corteyslane on the north, 55 feet long; in the parish of Holy Trinity. Witnesses: John Maryot, mayor, Richard de Touches , Simon of Heyworth , and Roger Badecok , aldermen, Thomas Bone , Eustace the goldsmith , John de Louches , Robert Boneface . Richard de Chaddesleye and Thomas de Knokyn appointed by Walter, archbishop of Canterbury , to visit the archdeaconry of Oxford, certify that they have examined the privileges, muniments and other instruments of the prior and convent of Wallingford, concerning the appropriation of the church of Aston, a pension of 100s. from the church of Gersingdon, 7s. from the church of Chinnor, a portion of the tithe of Mongewell estimated at one mark, and l0s. from Tonfeld. Dated at Bampton, 9 Kal. April, 1319.

SHABBINGTON, ASTON ROWANT, STOKENCHURCH, and GARSINGTON. Walter, archbishop of Canterbury , confirms to the prior and convent of Wallingford the appropriation of the churches of Shobyndon and Aston Rowant with the chapel of Stokenchurch, together with a pension of 100s. from Garsington church, etc., with certain tithes therein named. Dated at Missenden, the Ides of April, 1320.

Osbert son and heir of Thomas le ferror of W⟨allingford⟩ grants to Richard de Louches of W⟨allingford⟩ his right in 2 crofts of arable land in C⟨lapcote⟩ , viz. one lying above la Lhinche, the other at Pute...s. Holy Trinity, Wallingford.. A charter to the same effect as MS. Ch. Berks. 66, and in the same hand; the only additional information is that Th. of B.’s tenement was on the West and Richard de Touches ’ curtilage on the East. Dated at Wallingford the Sunday next after the feast of St. Katherine, 1 Ed. III.

Convention by which William Heron, the prior, and convent of Wallingford demise to Richard le Maston and Alice his wife the half of a tenement in the parish of Holy Trinity, Wallingford, for their lives, paying annually 3s. Dated at Wallingford in the feast of the Nativity of St. John, 1328.

Clapcote. William Badecok of W⟨allingford⟩ grants to Walter Crypse a toft with arable land adjacent, lying between the said Walter’s land on the north, and the garden which belonged to Sir William de Bereford by Wallingford castle on the south, in the village of C⟨lapcote⟩ , reaching from the high road on the west to the barbican of the castle on the east. It is 28 feet wide by the road, and 68 feet by the barbican; length 55 and 58 feet. Witnesses: Richard de Louches : Gilbert du char , Thomas Aleyn , Simon Kenelm , Nicholas le coupere . Letters patent of King Edward III, dated at York, 23 Jan., the 6th of his reign, giving licence to Richard de Louches - to grant a messuage, 13 1/2 acres of land, and one acre of meadow in Clopcote to the prior and convent of Wallingford, for one chaplain to celebrate in the said priory each day for his soul and the souls of Wm. Heyron and Walter de Pulton , and the ancestors of the said Richard.
