LOUND. Alice de Lund, daughter of Ralph de Pesehale, grants to Robert, son of Edstan de Caldecotes (Caldecot near Fritton, Suffolk?), ten acres and half a rood of land in Lound (Lund) some near the way as you go from Lund to Rotepet towards the east, some in Kirkefurlong, some near the way going from the monastery of Lund in Boyton to the north, etc.; paying annually 12d., and giving now two bisants. (c. 1190-1200.)

SOMERLEYTON, &c. Ralph, son of Ivo de Sumerletune, grants to John, son of Robert de Manithorpe, for his homage and service and 2 marks of silver, two pieces of land in the parish of Somerleyton (Sumerletune), paying annually one halfpenny, (c. 1230-40.)

HAILSHAM. William de Bugel grants to the canons of Otteham, in frankalmoigne, for eight marks, the whole of his land in the marsh lying between Pevenese and Heilesham of the fee of Rikewurd of Hellingel ', rendering yearly half a pound of pepper. BROKELE. Walter, bp. of Rochester , confirms the gift of Juliana the countess, and Michael de Torneham her seneschal, of land &c. for the support of the canons of Wellesford at Brokele in frankalmoigne. c. 1180 [Walter, bp. of Rochester, 1147-1183.] .

NODINGEFORD. Robert de Glotingham grants to the church of St. Mary of Beigham, in frankalmoigne, the half of his land of Nodingeford, viz. a fourth part of one knight's fee. (c. 1190-1200.) .

ARUNDEL. Herbert, son of Osmund , grants to the church of St. Bartholomew .... near the Causeways of Arundel, certain land of Anedelle, with a meadow adjacent, which he held from William de Harenge , (c. 1170-90.) [Mutilated.]

William, the third earl of Sussex , confirms to the church of St. Bartholomew 'de Calceto, Arundel', the donation which Gilbert de Winton made to them of the messuage which Noel held in Arundel. (1196-1221.) .

LEWES (Priory of). Ralph de Pleiz grants in frankalmoigne to the monks of St. Pancras the church of Iford with its appurtenances and the marl-pit; also he quit-claims to them Kenewardus and all his progeny; also he grants the churches of Toftes and Syrefort, and whatever he has in the church of Feltewell and the tithes of his lordship there, and the land which Geroldus, son of Wlmar , held in Felthewell for which he was accustomed to pay annually 32d., and confirms what his ancestors gave to the said church in frankalmoigne. (c. 1150-60.)

KIKKESTALL (Abbey of). Writ of protection for the abbey of Kirkstall, by K. Hen. II. Dated at Nottingham. (c. 1160?) .

Robert de Laci grants to St. Mary and his monks of Kirkestall, in frankalmoigne, a messuage in Pontefract to the south part of his castle, for them to have a house there to ...(?) to it when they will. (c. 1180-90.)

Samson de Alretun , and William his son, and Ragenilda his wife confirm to Alexander, the abbot, and the monks of Kyrkestal, in frankalmoigne, two carucates of land in West Alretun, paying annually one mark, and one oxgang in the other Alretun. [Alexander, abbot 1147-1182.] (c. 1160-70) .

Convention between the church of Kirkestal and the church of the Holy Trinity, York, by which the church of Kirkestal agrees to pay annually 20s. as compensation for tithes which they were accustomed to have from the lands which the monks of Kirkestal hold in the parish of Ledes, viz. 4 carucates of land in West Hadigleia (Haddlesey), half in Est Hadigleia, 2 carucates in West Alretuna, one bovate in East Alretun, the assart of Sinleia, of Mideleia, le Enclov, Westrod[aid] the vale of Bramleia. Witn. Richard abbot of Fountains etc. (c. 1133-43.) .

Ralph, the abbot, and the convent of Kyrkestall confirm to Reiner de Pontefr[act] and his heirs their messuage in Pontefract which sir Robt. de Laci gave them for an inn ("pro hospicio habendo"), paying annually one stone of wax at the Assumption B. M. V., the light at the altar of the church; reserving the use of the house for their "hospicium" when they visit the place. (c. 1182-1190.) .

Ralph, the abbot, and convent of Kirkestal grant to William, son of Ernis of Alreton , eleven and a half acres of land in West Alreton, which they had by the gift of his mother Juliana , at an annual rent of 6d. for all services; also they grant one other acre in West Alreton which Ernis his father held of them. (c. 1182-1190.) .

RIEVAL (Abbey of). Thomas, son of Paulinus, canon of the church of St. Peter of York , quit-claims to the church and monks of St. Mary, Rievall, all the claim he has upon the bounds (divisas) of Welleburn near his land of Nagelt[on] and Wimbelt[on], viz. the bounds contained in the charters of Roger de Molbrai and Nigel his son; which bounds, the same Roger with his men and neighbours (vicinis) perambulated and affirmed by oath to be the right bounds of Wellebr', because the said Thomas's men falsely suggested to him that they belonged to his land of Nagelt[on] and Wimbelt[on]; and being unwilling unjustly to vex the said monks, he therefore, after full enquiry, makes this quit-claim, which is attested by Robert Paulini, his nephew, John de Hereford his cousin, and Robert son of Rainer Puer . (c. 1190-1200.) .

YORK (St. Mary's Abbey of). R. de Appeltun grants to the abbot and monks of St. Mary of York, two bovates of land in Appeltun, and a toft together with Orm , his sons and his following, who is in the toft; for the term of six years "Hec conventio incepit ad Pentecosten proximum postquam dominus Rex suscepit crucem Domini, [scil. Hen. II]" [5 June 1188].

William de Wintewrh, son of Hugh, son of Henry of the aforenamed village , grants to God and the monks of St. Mary Magdalen of Bretton, in frankalmoigne, 11 acres of land of his demesne in Wintewrh. (c. 1180-90.) .

Henry de Stainegrive pledges himself that the 4 acres of land which Ralph, son of Richard ad Wel his man , demised to the prior and convent of Drax for eight years, from the feast of St. Martin next after the election of master Philip as bishop of Durham, at 8s. rent, shall be enjoyed by them for that time, for the first two years in the middle of his croft, and for the next six in the cultivated land nearest to the house of Walkelin. (1197.) .

Henry de Stainegrive grants to William, son of Nicholas Russel , and Richard his brother, licence to sell or pledge or give to the church of St. Nicholas of Drax and the canons there, in frankalmoigne, the whole of his land in Neuhay. (c. 1190-1200.)

Hugh Malabestia , with the assent of Hugh his heir, grants to God and the church of St. Cudbert of Martun, in frankalmoigne, 40 acres of land in Martun. (c. 1180-1190.) .

Judgement by S⟨imon⟩ dean of York, H⟨amo⟩ precentor of York, and B. prior of Newburgh (in pursuance of a letter from pope Celestine ⟨III⟩ dated 8 Kal. Aug. an. V) in a dispute between the prior and canons of Giseb⟨urhe⟩ and William, clerk, and Ralph his son officiating as rector in the chapel of Herlessei ; viz. that after the deaths of the said William and Ralph, the chapel shall pertain to the canons' church of Erneclive as being the mother-church, and that meanwhile the said William shall pay yearly one aureus or two shillings and Ralph two aurei or four shillings. [1195] .

Peter Escarbot grants to the church and canons of St. Mary, Giseburn, for 59 marks and 4 shillings, two bovates of land in the fields of Upplium which Walter Pinneferthing held; to hold for 24 (?) years until they have had 24 crops; if unable to quarantee the same, he will then give one carucate in Skelton with a toft; the term beginning at the feast of St. Martin, 1186. .

John de Builli grants to God and St. John the apostle, of Pontefract, and the monks there, in frankalmoigne, to the fight in the chapel of St. Victor Mart. half an acre of land with a toft in 'Kimberwurdia', which Godwinde Hillum holds, together with the said Godwin. (c. 1180).

JERUSALEM (Hospital of St. John of). William Painel grants to the hospital, in frankalmoigne, the whole of his lands and tenements which Robert de Alta Ripa (Hawtrey) held of him in Cugric and Ploxlandes and Ecoppe, and Adel; paying 8s. yearly. (c. 1150-60) 34 witnesses.
