Henry de Stainegrive pledges himself that the 4 acres of land which Ralph, son of Richard ad Wel his man , demised to the prior and convent of Drax for eight years, from the feast of St. Martin next after the election of master Philip as bishop of Durham, at 8s. rent, shall be enjoyed by them for that time, for the first two years in the middle of his croft, and for the next six in the cultivated land nearest to the house of Walkelin. (1197.) .
