Henry de Tifteshal grants to Eadmund, the abbot and convent of St. Edmund, in frankalmoigne, a messuage in the village of Redgrave, and twenty acres of land lying near the same, and also another acre lying there and a meadow in Rickinghall (Rikinghale), and 6d. annual rent in Glendrave and in Rikinghale. (c. 1248-57.)

Redgrave (?). Walter Oligrant of Redgrave grants to John, the abbot of Bury St. Edmund, and his successors, 16 pence of annual rent (from certain persons), for which concession the said abbot gave to the said Walter nine shillings and 8d. of silver. (c. 1290-1300.)

BURY. The (long) will of Henry de Heleweton, dated at Bury St Edmunds (St Edmund) the Tuesday next after the feast of St. Botulph [19 June], 1274.

Convention (indented) made between Robert de Baketon , clerk, then prior of the hospital of St. Peter, and convent of the same, of one part, and Robert de Waunford and Isabella his wife of the other, by which the said Robert and Isabella grant to the said hospital six acres of land in Westley (Westle), in the field called la Dune for which the said prior and convent will give them annually 4s. during their lives. (c. 1260-70.)

Convention, dated 1275, between William, son of Bartholomew of St. Edmund, of one part, and the brethren of the hospital of St. Peter of the other, witnesseth that the said William grants in exchange to the said hospital three roods of land in the fields of Westley (Westle), &c. Alexander Brun of Bury St Edmunds (St. Edmund) grants to [ Robert the provost] and the hospital of St. Peter for 40s. three roods of arable land lying in the field of Bury St Edmunds (St. Edmund), at Aylmerescroft; paying annually to him and his heirs one clove, and to the Gilda Mercatorum of St. Edmund 2d. Robert le Rus of Bury St Edmunds (St. Edmund) grants to Nicholas de Neketune, burgess of Bury St Edmunds (St. Edmund), for his fidelity and for 7 marks in hand paid, 9s. of annual quit-rent from a shop in the street called 'La Rue Marchaunde.' William Trussebut, glover, of Bury St Edmunds (St. Edmund), and Margery his wife grant to John de Pastone, vintner, of the same town, for 14 marks one messuage in Bury St Edmunds (St. Edmund) in the street which is called 'le Mustowe,' at an annual rent to the sacristan of St. Edmund of 32 pence of silver for all services. ⟨Bury St Edmunds.⟩ Basilia, wife of Alexander Brun of Bury St Edmunds (St Edmund) , quit-claims to the brethren of the hospital of St. Peter without the gate of Risby (Rysseby), and Robert the warden those three roods of arable land which her husband granted to them in the field of Aylmerecroft. [c. 1270-75.]

Richard, son of Katherine of St. Edmund, grants to Robert, the prior, and the brethren of the hospital of St. Peter all right to 6d. annual rent which he was accustomed to take from the said brethren for one acre of arable land in Hamerlound. Gilbert de Neketone of Bury St Edmunds (St. Edmund) grants to Ralph de Mildenhale 9s. of annual rent in the village of Bury St Edmunds (St. Edmund), from a shop situated in the street which is called 'La Rue Marchaunde.' Dated at Bury St Edmunds (St. Edmund) the Friday after the feast of the Nativity of St. John B., 4 Ed. II (25 June 1311). Witn. Bartholomew, son of Augustine de Walsyngham, remits and quitclaims to Richard, the abbot, and convent of St. Edmund, all right in one messuage, lands, and tenements which were Augustine's, the father of the said Bartholomew, in the villages of Rickinghall Inferior (Lower Rikynghale), Wattisfield (Watlesfeld), and Hinderclay (Hildercle). Dated at Bury St Edmunds (St. Edmund), 21 June, 18 Ed. II (1325).

William de Shellond of Bury St Edmunds (St. Edmund) grants to sir Richard, the abbot, and convent of St. Edmund, in frankalmoigne, 6d. of annual quit-rent arising out of five acres of arable land in Fornham formely Ralph Kempe 's, for the use of the latter. Dated at Bury St Edmunds (St. Edmund) the Monday next after the feast of the Invention of the Cross, 19 Ed. II (5 May 1326). Witn. William Blounvyle grants and quit-claims to sir Thomas de Morieux', kt., Ralph, son of Ralph de Bokkyngge, and William Suklyng, chaplain, all right and claim in a messuage in the village of Bury St Edmunds (St. Edmund), which he had by the gift of Ralph de Bokkyng, knt. Dated at Bury St Edmunds (St. Edmund) the Thursday after the feast of St. Gregory, 31 Ed. III (16 March 1357).

William Draghton of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund) and others confirm to Edward Woderton, Alice his wife, and Thomas Bernyngham, one tenement in the village of Bury St Edmunds (Bury) in the street called le Heyestrete. Dated at Bury St Edmunds (Bury) aforesaid the Wednesday before the feast of St. Luke, evang., 21 Rich. II (17 Oct. 1397).

Indenture witnessing that whereas Ralph Bayle of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund), draper, has granted to Henry Kyrton of Bury St Edmunds (Bury) aforesaid and Agnes his wife one tenement in the village of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund), in the street called le Heyestrete, it is on condition of their paying during two years without the delay of a single day at stated periods 8 marks and 10s. (c. 1390-1400.)

Richard Goldsmyth of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund) grants to Walter Burton, clerk, master of the hospital of St. Peter, one garden lying in Maydewater lane in Bury St Edmunds (Bury) aforesaid. William Warde of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund), chaplain, grants to John Rothe, brasier and Richard Rothe, clerk two tenements in Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund) in 'le Smytherowe', near the great market-place. Dated at Bury St Edmunds (Bury) aforesaid, 8 January, 4 Hen. V (1417).

Isabella Gosselyn and Margaret Gosselyn of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund) grant to John Stonhard, John Wherham, and George Burton, of Bury St Edmunds (Bury) aforesaid, one tenement situated in the village of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund). Edmund Lerlyn of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund), Agnes his wife, Edmund Baker, weaver, David Humfrey, baker, and Robert Totay, "corvoser" demise to Robert Drake and Matilda his wife, John Aylewyn, weaver, Thomas Turnour, carpenter, and Thomas Barry, a messuage, way and garden within the town of Bury St Edmunds (Bury) aforesaid, in the street called Overbaxterestrete alias Wellestrete, on condition of payment of £6 at fixed times during five years. Robert Drake of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund), carpenter, Matilda his wife, Thomas Turnur, a carpenter, and Thomas Barry, "corvoiser" demise to John Mannyng, labourer, Thomas Pykerell, yeoman, Robert Smyth, yeoman and William Talyes, butcher, a certain messuage in Bury St Edmunds (Bury) aforesaid, in the street called Overbaxterestrete alias Wellystrete. Dated at Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund), 23 December, 10 Hen. VII (1494).

Robert Stelyard, clerk, demises to Margery Draper of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund), widow of John Batys and others a tenement in Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund) in the street called Chirchegatestrete, conveyed to him by the said Margery by deed dated 10 Sept. in the same year. Dated at Bury St Edmunds (Bury) aforesaid, 15 Sept., 13 Hen. VIII (1521).

Robert Hanham of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund), gent., grants to John Cutteris of the same, yeoman, three tenements in the borough of Bury St Edmunds (Bury) aforesaid, in the street which is called Wellestrett alias Overbaxstrett.
