Articles of complaint. Stanborough Hundred (Devon). [c. 1260-1270] (1270). . Articles of complaint from some knights against the Sheriff of Devonshire, with special complaints from Sir Roger de Mules[or Moeles] of Carswell, in the hundred of Stanberowe, praying for his removal and substitution of another knight in his place.

Confirmation of agreement and grant. Mottisfont, priory of Austin canons. [c. 1260-1270] (1270). . Confirmation by the Official of the Bishop of Winchester of the agreement between the abbot and convent of St. Edward of Letthely [Netley], and the prior and convent of Motesfunte, rectors of the church of Elinges, and patrons of the vicarage of the same, also Gilbert, perpetual vicar of the same church, concerning the tithe of hay from 13 1/2 acres of meadow, which the said abbot and convent had in Estmore, Stretforlang, and Loddingeham, within the limits of the parish of Elinges, which is conceded to belong to the said abbey: and for this agreement, 40s are given to the use of the vicarage (chirograph). Grant and assignment. Stallingborough (Lincolnshire) (manor). Feast of St. Peter ad vincula, 23 Ed. I (1 Aug. 1295). . Grant and assignment from Norman de Arcy, son of Philip de Arcy, to Sir Robert de Arcy, his son, and to his heirs and assigns, all the homages and other services of Sir Richard de Arcy of Flixeburg and others (enumerated), pertaining to the manor of Stalyngburgh or elsewhere. Dated at Noketon. [For a copy, c. 1350?, see p. 679 of the Calendar of Charters, Rolls, etc., in the Bodleian Library, and on p. 29 of vol. 76 of the Dodsworth MSS.]

Agreement. Guisborough, Augustinian priory of St Mary. [c. 1260-1270.] (1270). . Indenture of agreement made between Ralph, the prior, and convent of Gyseburn of the one part, and Agnes, formerly wife of John Herbald, in her free widowhood, of the other, viz. that the prior and convent have granted to the aforesaid Agnes and her heirs two tofts and crofts, of which one is held by Adam Babe and another is held by Robert, son of Dene, in the village of Uplythum, in exchange for the half of one toft and croft which was formerly called the chapel toft, and one sellion of land, and she also quit-claims all right in tofts and crofts in Uggesthorpe.

Bull. Westminster, St Stephen's college. 13 Kal. December, 8th year of Pope Clement VI's pontificate [1349] (1349). . Bull of pope Clement [VI], addressed to the archbishop of Canterbury and bishop of Winchester exempting the college of St. Stephen, founded by the king in his palace of Westminster from all episcopal jurisdiction. Dated at Avignon [copy, c. 1400].

Grant. Scoreby (Yorkshire, North Riding) (manor), Stamford Bridge (Yorkshire, North Riding) (manor). Friday next after the Quindene of Easter, 1336 (1336). . Indenture witnessing that whereas Robert de Scorburg, kt., acknowledged in the king's court at York that he owed £1000 to be paid to Walter de Heselarton, kt., on the feast of Easter, 1343, the said Walter wills and grants for himself and heirs that if the said Robert convey to him and Eustachia his wife the manor of Scorreby and Staynfordbrigg at Easter aforesaid, then the bond for the said £1000 shall be void; with other conditions. Dated at Beverley.

Confirmation. Newhouse, abbey of Premonstratensian canons. [c. 1150-1168] (1168). . Confirmation by William de Lamara and Beatrice his mother, to Robert, bp. of Lincoln, of the gift of Adam, son of Hervey de Kiringtune, to the church and brethren of St. Martial of Neuhus, in frankalmoigne, of the toft Gunne Wate aud two bovates of land in Kirningtune, of the fee which the said William holds of the earl of Richemund; for the soul of Alan, father of the said William and uncle of Adam [25 witnesses].

Inspeximus, papal bull. Sempringham, Gilbertine priory. 5 Id. March [11 March], 1268 (1268). . Inspeximus by H[ugh Balsham], bp. of Ely, of the bull of Honorius [III] denouncing excommunication against all who invade the possessions of the Master and order of Sempingham or do them wrong. Dated at Dunham.

Inquisition ad quod damnum. Guisborough, Augustinian priory of St Mary. Wednesday next before the feast of St. Wilfrid, bp. and confessor, 4 Rich. II (1380). . Inquisition ad quod damnum taken at Poklyngton before James Pikeryng, escheator. The jury say that it is not to the injury of the king nor any one else for the king to grant license to Richard de Ravenser, archdeacon of Lincoln, Robert his brother, and Emma, wife of the said Robert, to give to the prior and convent of Gysburne five messuages, two tofts, seven bovates and four acres of land and 2s. rent in Lund super le Walde, for the increase of the sustentation of one canon regular or one chaplain not regular, to celebrate divine service daily in the church of the Holy Trinity of Kyngeston upon Hull, likewise of 12 poor men in a certain hospital existing there, of the foundation of the said Richard and Robert, one halfpenny daily; the said lands etc. being held of Henry de Percy, earl of Northumberland, as parcel of the manor of Allerton, by homage and fealty, and they are of the yearly value of 52s (copy).

Convention. Bordesley, Cistercian abbey. [c. 1210] (1210). . Convention made between W[illiam], the abbot, and convent of Bordesle and Ralph Butler ("Pincerna") of Duresley, concerning the easements which the aforesaid abbot and convent were accustomed to have in the wood of Buddela, viz. that the said Ralph and his heirs shall give to the church of Bordesle 5s. annually for all the said easements, so long as the abbot and convent shall guarantee the same to the said Ralph.

Judgement. Bolton, Augustinian priory. Morrow of St. Gregory, 1245 (1245). . Judgement in the greater church of Lincoln by William de Novo Castro [Newcastle] and Peter de Mixebyrii concerning a composition for tithes, between the prior and convent of Boultun, and Robert, rector of the church of Hylkeley, revoking a composition by which two ?marks were paid annually to the later, and restoring an earlier one for ten shillings.

Grant. Bordesley, Cistercian abbey. [c.1241-1245] (1245). . Grant from Geoffrey de Beniggewrth,, son of William de Beniggewrth, to the abbot and convent of Bordeslege in perpetual fee farm the whole of his lands with rents and all appurtenances of Houteselva and Tysho, and of Pilardinton and Whatcote in the county of "Warewic, paying annually to him and his heirs one mark of silver in the church of All Saints, Norhamton, and to the chief lord of Tysho 4s., and to the prior of Pilardinton in one year 10s., and in another year 11s. 4d. Witness: Philip de Assellis, then sheriff of Warewic.

Confirmation. Newburgh, Augustinian priory. [c. 1200-1210] (1210). . Confirmation by Simon the dean and chapter of York to the prior and canons of Newburgh, the churches of Hod, Cukewad, Thesc, Hovingham, Wellebruny, Kirchebi in Ridal, Cundale, Kirchebi near the bridge of Burgh, with all their chapels, tithes, lands and tenements of what kind soever pertaining, saving all the rights of the church and archbishops of York, for the time being, as granted formerly by W[illiam] archbp. and W[illiam] dean.

Account. Brabant, duchy (duchy). 22 March, 33 Ed. I (1305). . Account of the payment at various times from 19 February 25 Ed. I of £40,000 Tournois to John, duke of Brabant, in which sum King Edward I, conjointly with W. de Valenc' and others, were bound to the said John with a memorandum of the delivery of the bond on the completion of payment to the treasurer and chamberlains of the Exchequer by John, lord of Cuyk.

Final concord. Bolbeck Barony (Northumberland) (manor). Thursday next after the feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, 53 Hen. III (1269). . Final concord made between John [de Middilton] on one part, and Roger and Phylippa [de Lancaster], Nich. and Margery [Corbet], Walter and Alice [Huntercomb], and Hugh and Matilda[Delaval] on the other part [all these wives were daughters and heirs of Hugh del Bolebech, who died 46 Hen. III] made at Newcastle on Tyne concerning certain lands in the Hamell del Ryding, Middilton, Walington and the Hamell of Thornburth, with annual payment to Tephany de Bolebech of 12s. 6d. (mutilated).

Fine. Netherton (Northumberland). Morrow of St. Hilary, 11 Ed. I (1283). . Fine made in the court of the Bishop of Durham, at Durham, on the morrow of St. Hilary, 11 Ed. I, and 9th year of Bishop Rob. de Lisle, between Alan de Slykeburn and Agnes his wife, plaintiffs, and Robert, son of Henry de Estslykeburn, and Eva his wife, defendants, concerning one messuage, 44 acres of land, and 2 1/2 acres of meadow in Nedderton, by which the said Robert and Eva acknowledge the said tenement to be the right of Alan and Agnes, also they grant that all the tenements which Alice de Ravensworth, who was the wife of Robert, brother of the said Eva, held in dowry, in the village of Nedderton, shall after the death of the said Alice, remain to Alan and Agnes for ever. For this grant Alan gave to the said Robert and Eve 28 acres of land in Estslykeburn.

Letters patent. Dore, Cistercian abbey. 8 October, 3 Ed. [III] (1329). . Letters patent dated at Worcester, for the appropriation of the church of Duntesburn by the abbot and convent of Dore.

Sale relating to the grant of 30,000 sacks of wool, 1341. Yorkshire, North Riding () (county), Yorkshire, East Riding () (county), York (Yorkshire, East Riding). 18 July, 15 Ed. III (1341). . Indenture made between King Edward III of the one part, and William de Acastre, John Goldbeter, and William de Skelton of the other part, concerning the sale to them of 411 sacks and a half of the wool collected in the Northtrithyng and Estrithyng of Yorkshire, and in the city of York, in pursuance of a grant of 30,000 sacks given to the king by the Parliament held at Westminster the Quinzaine of Easter last past; at the price of 16 marks a sack. Dated at London (French).

Grant. Pickwell (Lincolnshire). [c. 1180-1186] (1186). . Grant from Helias, parson of the church of Pikehale, grants to the house of St. Mary of Charity of Swanebi, situated in his parish of Pikehale, that it may have a cemetery and chantry, so much as pertains to the brethren of the order there serving God, saving the rights of the mother church. Witnesses: Chief Justice Ran. de Glanville, Godfrey de Luci, Joscelin, archdeacon of Chichester, and Will. Wavas[or], then justices at York.

Amercements. Court of King's Bench. 14 Ed. I (1286). . Amercements levied in the King's Bench upon the sheriffs of divers counties for contempt, "pro contemptu".

Inquisition. Somerset (county). Dec. 21 Ed. III [1347] (1347). . Inquisition concerning the possessions of John Beauchamp son and heir of John Beauchamp of Somerset, he being a minor in the King's custody (copy; mutilated and in part barely legible).

Pleas. York, Benedictine abbey of St. Mary. [1270-1271] (1271). . Leaf, being a fragment of pleas, 55 Hen. III, concerning the rights of the abbot and convent of St. Mary, York, in Briddesale, York, and Claxton, chiefly concerned with a case of the Abbot, the Prior of Kirkham and Dyonisia de Monte Cam[...] versus Peter de Malo Lacu [mutilated].

Petition. Aconbury, priory of Austin nuns priory. [temp. Hen. VI] (1471). . Petition of the prioress of Acornbury within the diocese of Hereford, in the marches of Wales, to the king for letters under the privy seal, to release her from the payment of £10 13s. 9d. charged upon her priory, for dyme and half dyme, granted in the last convocation [perhaps the 1 1/2 clerical tenths granted in 1435], in consequence of the poverty of her house, by the war and destruction made in the time of the late rebellion (English).
