Dated at Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvile) the Monday on the vigil of the Nativity of our Lord, 32 Ed. III. Charters Suffolk 1262-65 are endorsed as having been exhibited in a law-suit, 15 March, 1697/98.

CARLETON COLVYLE, KYRKLE, PAKEFELD, GISLEHAM, MUTFORD, and HENSTEAD. John de Kymburle, parson of Mutford, Roger atte Heth, parson of Todenham, and Edmund Man of Mutford remit and by these presents quit-claim to Ralph Megre, parson of Kessingland (Kessynglond), all the right they have in Carlton Colville called Fastolf's (Fastolf)'s manor, viz. in all lands &c. in Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvyle), Kirkley (Kyrkele), Pakefield (Pakefeld), Gisleham (Gyselham), Mutford and Henstead (Henstede), which they had by the gift of sir Edm. de Hemgrave, kt. Dated at Mutford the Wednesday on the feast of St. Botolph, 29 Ed. III. Charters Suffolk 1262-65 are endorsed as having been exhibited in a law-suit, 15 March, 1697/98.

Ralph Megre, parson of the church of Kessingland (Kessinglond), grants to sir Robert Spenser, parson of Ellingham (Elgh[am]), sir Edmund de Wells, parson of Beccles (Bekklis), Richard Megre, Warine de Barneby, and Alan Reynald his manor of Carlton Colville called Fastolf's (Carleton Colvyle called Fastolfs), with appurtenances, lands, &c. in the villages of Carlton (Carleton), Mutford (Montforye), Barnby (Barneby), Henstead (Henstede), Rushmere St Michael (Ruschemer), Gisleham (Gyselham), Pakefield (Pakefeld), and Kirkley (Kyrkle). Dated at Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvyle) the Friday after the feast of St. Nicholas, bp., 32 Ed. [III]. Ralph Megre, parson of the church of Kessingland (Kessynglond), quit-claims to sir Erneric de Welyngton, kt., all right in the whole manor of Carlton Colville called Fastolf's (Carleton Colvyle called Falstolfs), and in all lands &c. in Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvyle), Mutford, Barnby (Barneby), &c. lately acquired from sir Edmund de Hemgrave, knt. Dated at Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvyle) the Thursday on the feast of St. John, apostle, 32 Ed. III. Charters Suffolk 1262-65 are endorsed as having been exhibited in a law-suit, 15 March, 1697/98.

CARLETON COLVILE. William Horman, Robert Rypyng, and Robert Dolfyn, of Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvile), grant to John Oldryng and Agnes his wife one messuage, 34 acres of land, and 3s. annual rent in Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvyle). Dated there, 16 Oct., 14 Hen. VI (1435).

William Herman of Gisleham (Gyslam), Richard Rypyng of Mutford, and Robert Dolfyn of Carlton (Carleton) grant to John Oldryng and Agnes his wife two messuages, 34 acres of land, and 3s. of annual rent in the village of Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvyle), which they had had by the grant of the said John, for the term of their lives, with remainder to their son Thomas Oldryng and Margaret his wife. Dated at Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvyle), 16 October, 14 Hen. VI (1435).

Indenture made 2 August, 28 Hen. VIII (1536), between John Couper of Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvyle) and Alys his wife of the one part, and John Jettor of Lowestoft (Lowystoft) of the other part, witnesseth that the said John and Alys sell to him all their messuages, lands, and tenements in Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvyle). [Much effaced.]

Indenture (on paper) dated 20 June, 23 Elizabeth (1581), by which John Jernegon of Somerleyton, esq., demised to George Hervy of Oulton his "heathe doole" in the town of Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvyle) for 21 years, at an annual rent of 2s. Signed.

Memorandum that sir Edmund Themylthorpe of Tunswod, kt., has received of Francis Claxtone of Wissett (Wysset), gent. £500 for the purchase of certain lands &c. in Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvyle), as mentioned in a pair of indentures dated 25 January, 2 James I (1605). Dated 28 March, 3 James I (1605).

Francis Claxton of Wissett (Wisset), gent., in performance of certain covenants sells to Nicholas Batteley of Rumburgh (Romburgh), yeoman, a messuage &c. in Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvile). Dated 16 October, 4 James I (1606).

Indenture dated 16 October, 4 James I (1606), by which Francis Claxton of Wissett (Wysset, co. Suffolk), gent., in consideration of the receipt of £500, sells to Nicholas Battely the younger, of Rumburgh (Romburgh, co. Suffolk), yeoman, lands, tenements, &c. in Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvile).

Memorandum from the court roll of the manor of Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvyle), dated 27 April, 7 James I (1609), concerning the grant of Francis Claxton to Robert Battelye.

Final concord, made at Westminster on the morrow of All Souls, 2 Charles I, by which John Codd and Mary his wife, Henry Coppinger and Sarah his wife, and Richard Burnell acknowledge that two messuages, one curtilage, two gardens, orchard, &c. and certain lands in Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvyle), Barsham, Ilketshall St Andrew (Ilkettishall St. Andrews), and Lowestoft belong to Robert London, sen., and Edmund Smith; for this fine the said Robert and Edmund gave to John and Marya, Henry and Sarah, and Richard, £100 sterling.

Carlton Colville (CARLTON COLVILE), Barsham (BARSHAM), Ilketshall St Andrew (ILKETTISHALL, ST. ANDREW), and Lowestoft (LOWESTOFT). Indenture made 10 October, 1626, by which Robert London of Wheatacre (Whetacre) and Edmund Smith of Gillingham are to have a fine levied by John Codd and Mary his wife and Henry Coppinger and Sarah his wife and Richard Burnell for conveying certain messuages and lands in the above villages to them.

PAKEFIELD, CARLETON COLVILE, &c. John Bery of Pakefield (Pakefeld) and Edmund Ponszere of the same place grant to Simon Fowler certain lands and tenements in Pakefield (Pakefeld), Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvile), and Gisleham (Geslyham), which they had by a deed dated 16 Feb. 30 Hen. VI. Dated at Pakefield, 20 August, 21 Ed. IV (1481).
