Ralph Megre, parson of the church of Kessingland (Kessinglond), grants to sir Robert Spenser, parson of Ellingham (Elgh[am]), sir Edmund de Wells, parson of Beccles (Bekklis), Richard Megre, Warine de Barneby, and Alan Reynald his manor of Carlton Colville called Fastolf's (Carleton Colvyle called Fastolfs), with appurtenances, lands, &c. in the villages of Carlton (Carleton), Mutford (Montforye), Barnby (Barneby), Henstead (Henstede), Rushmere St Michael (Ruschemer), Gisleham (Gyselham), Pakefield (Pakefeld), and Kirkley (Kyrkle). Dated at Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvyle) the Friday after the feast of St. Nicholas, bp., 32 Ed. [III]. Charters Suffolk 1262-65 are endorsed as having been exhibited in a law-suit, 15 March, 1697/98.
