Daventry, The Mills. Nicholas, prior, &c., of D⟨aventry⟩ quit-claims to Roger the miller the tithes of their three mills in D⟨aventry⟩ which he held from them, namely, one windmill and two water-mills, of which one is called Middilmilne and the other Cuttulemilne. Rent: 12d. Roger quit-claims his right in any suit of two mills—one horse-mill and one water-mill, which they held; the former in their courtyard, the latter in the lower stock-pond. He further quit-claims his right in their wood called Armele, and is to pay 6d. for the tithes of his windmill which he holds from Walter fitz-Simon, lord of D⟨aventry⟩ in Drayton . Daventry, The Mills. Peter, prior, &c.; of D⟨aventry⟩ grant to John son of Roger Miller of D⟨aventry⟩ for his service, 2 acres of arable land in D⟨aventry⟩ and Drayton viz. in the south field of D⟨aventry⟩ 3 half acres lying at le Loch by the land of Simon de aula . In the south field of Drayton a half acre over Putforlong between the monks’ land and that of William of Drayton . Rent 2d. For this grant John gave the prior; &c., an acre of arable land ‘cum divisa eidem adiacente’ in the south field of Drayton over Ryenhul by the land of John Neel , on which acre Ryenhulmylne was situated, which acre and mill Roger, father of the said John, used to hold from the monks. William son of Sir John of D⟨aventry⟩ , kt. , grants to Henry son of Robert Symond of D⟨aventry⟩ 1 acre of arable land in Drayton viz., in the North field half an acre over Langedone by the land of William Gymme , and in the South field half an acre under Stepenhul by the land of the said William. John Neel grants to D⟨aventry⟩ in free-alms 1½ acres of land in D⟨aventry⟩ , lying over Fischwerehul between the prior’s land and the Daventry-Norton road. In exchange they have given him a croft called Millewardis croft in D⟨aventry⟩ by the Walton road on the west. They also release to him their right in 5 strips at the head of D⟨aventry⟩ towards Drayton, by the high road to Leicester on the north. John Neel grants to D⟨aventry⟩ in free-alms ½ acre of land in D⟨aventry⟩ , lying over Suthbrok under Hauton hill between the prior’s land on the west and the land late of William Randolf on the east. In exchange John receives two roods of arable land under Ryehill between his own land on the west and that of Simon le Champiun on the east. William Catesby, esq., of Asshebyelygger , William Lane of Oslyngbery, gentleman, William Staverton of D⟨aventry⟩ , gentleman, to William Lane, prior, &c., of D⟨aventry⟩ their right in 3 half acres of arable land and a rood of meadow in D⟨aventry⟩ which the grantors had jointly of the gift of William Holte of D⟨aventry⟩, yeoman and Joan his wife, the cousin and heir of William Wryght late of D⟨aventry⟩ . 14 Nov. ⟨1483.⟩
