MILDENHALE, &c. Chirograph by which Samson, the abbot, and convent of St. Edmund grant to Ralph de Colum their servant certain lands and rents in Mildenhall (Mildenhale). (1182-1211.) [Almost entirely effaced.] [Colum (see endorsement of Ch. Suffolk 26 where he is also a witness)]

Samson, the abbot of St. Edmund, grants to Henry, son of Thurstan, and his heirs, the mill called 'Salemundesforde,' with land and meadows customarily paying an annual rents of 27s., less 2d. to the abbot's hall at Fornham [All Saints]; to hold by free service, for the payment annually at the hall of Fornham of 30s.; also he grants eight acres at 'Hengrave (Hemegrethe)' at 2s., annual rent. (1184-1211.)

[Fornham] Samson, the abbot of St. Edmund, grants to Ailmar, son of Ailward de Fornham, the mill which is called 'Ailmeres Heine' at a rent of 30s.; also a little meadow at the head of the mill-pond, [which mill used to pay an annual rent of 26s.] for which he is to render to the hall of Fornham the customary rent of seven ploughshares, with leave to have no ewer free from feldage, to hold the same by heirship. (1184-1211.)

Endorsement. Gilbert de Derham grants to the church of Bury St Edmunds (St. Edmund) one croft in Mildenhall (Mildenhal). Dated Ed. [I]. [Illegible, almost entirely effaced.]

PORINGLAND (Little). Copy of the register of the chamberlain of Bury St Edmunds (Bury) of lands in West Poringland (Little Porynglond), with a charter of abbot Samson's grant to Roger de Gessynges. (Temp. Hen. VII.)

INGHAM. Lease from Thomas, abbot of Bury St. Edmund, and the convent of the same, to John and William Hegge de Ingham of their manor of Ingham and all that belongs to it, except the advowson of the church, for 70 years, paying annually to the cellarer of the monastery £16. Dated 10 Sept., 1 Richard III (1483). [Roughly altered as a draft for a lease from abbot John to John Playford and John Talbot for 20 years; dated 10 Sept. ... Henry VIII, year not filled in. Abbot John Reeve succeeded in 1514.]

BRESETH. Exemplification by Robert prior of the Holy Trinity, Norwich, of a composition dated 5 Kalends June (28 May), 1259 between Stephen the prior and convent of Nobiliac in the diocese of Limoges, and John the prior and convent of St. Leonard, Bresethe, respecting the rights of the former house over the latter, including visitation every five yers, and a yearly pension of 10s.; with confirmation by the bishop of Norwich dated at Thetford (Thefford) 5 id. May 1310. Dated in the chapter-house of Bresethe, 17 Kl. August, (16 July) 1310. ( Robert, prior)

Indenture dated ... Elizabeth by which John and William Allen sell to John Jermyn of Depden (Debden) certain lands in Glemsford. [Almost entirely effaced.]

John Herte, the elder, of Waldringfield (Waldryngfeld) sells to William Lambe all the house and lands and cattle which the said John holdeth in Waldringfield (Waldryngfeld); for provision of meat, drink and clothing for him and his wife for thier lives and remission of a debt of 20s. [Temp. Hen. VII.]

John atte Mersshe of Creeting All Saints (Cretyngge All Saints) grants to Richard atte Merssh his son and Robert Wighte of Colchester certain lands and tenements, &c. in the parishes of Creeting All Saints, Creeting St Mary (Creeting St. Mary), Coddenham (Codenham), and Crowfield (Crowfeld). [Temp. Hen. IV.] [In greatest part effaced.]

STONEHAM. Grant from John Crane of land in Earl Stonham (Earl's Stoneham); Temp. Hen. IV. [Almost entirely effaced.]

Margaret, daughter of Thomas Rust of Ashby (Askeby) , grants to William Craneworth, rector of Ashby (Askeby), all her messuages and lands in Ashby (Askeby) which were Thomas Rust's. Dated at Ashby (Askeby) the Thursday after the feast of St. Kenelm, .. Hen. IV.

Thomas Coppyn, clerk, and John Boys demise to Edward Jernegan, esq., William Jakson, clerk, William Copyldyk, clerk, Thomas Kipyng, Edmund Candeler and Edmund Wynstone, all those messuages, lands, and tenements, rents and services, &c. in Blundeston, which they with others had by the gift and concession of Richard Caly, as by his charter dated 2 April, 7 Hen. VII (1492), more plainly appears. Dated at Blundeston, 20 March, 24 Hen. VII (1509).

William Sydnor of Blundeston grants to Alice Woulcye of Lowestoft, widow of William Wrentham for her life an annuity of 26s. 8d., issuing from his lands &c. in Blundeston. Dated 7 June, . . Elizabeth.

Richard Mighell, in consideration of the receipt of £6, remits and quit-claims to William Sydnor, his heirs and executors, all right to rents and customs of the manor of Flixton. Dated 11 November, .. Elizabeth. [Slightly mutilated and partly effaced.]

SOMERLEYTON, &c. Ralph, son of Ivo de Sumerletune, grants to John, son of Robert de Manithorpe, for his homage and service and 2 marks of silver, two pieces of land in the parish of Somerleyton (Sumerletune), paying annually one halfpenny, (c. 1230-40.)
