Samson, the abbot of St. Edmund, grants to Henry, son of Thurstan, and his heirs, the mill called 'Salemundesforde,' with land and meadows customarily paying an annual rents of 27s., less 2d. to the abbot's hall at Fornham [All Saints]; to hold by free service, for the payment annually at the hall of Fornham of 30s.; also he grants eight acres at 'Hengrave (Hemegrethe)' at 2s., annual rent. (1184-1211.)
