John Bonde, chaplain, grants to William Lelye and Agnes his wife three cottages in the town of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund), in the street called 'Oldbaxsteristrete'. Dated at Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund) the Sunday next after the feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, 12 Hen. IV (28 June 1411). Witn. Indenture witnessing that whereas William Warde of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund), chaplain, grants and by a certain charter confirms to John Rothe, brasier and Richard Rothe of Carleton, clerk, two tenements within the borough of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund), near the great market-place, viz. in 'le Smytherowe,' they are bound to the payment of £20 by certain instalments. William Leyr of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund), mason, Ralph Reward and Stephen Gardyner demise and assign to Thomas Bolesham of Bury St Edmunds (Bury) aforesaid, Roger Messager, William Rycher, John Smyth, John Gouty, and Roger Gardyner, a certain tenement with three messuages and four pieces of arable land within the borough of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund), in the streets called 'Lombislane' and 'Th'mustowe.' ⟨Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund)⟩ John Baret, esq., acknowledges to have received, for himself and John Lydgate, monk of Bury St. Edmund, of William Tyrell, sheriff of Norfolk and Suffolk, £3 16s. 8d. of that £7s. 13s. 4d. which the king by letters patent granted to them for the term of their lives. Indenture by which William Stowe, master of the hospital of St. Nicholas of Bury St. Edmund, with the assent of his brethren, demises to William Somere of Bury St Edmunds (Bury), taylor, a tenement in Bury St Edmunds (Bury) in the street called le Estgatestrete for 98 years, at an annual rent of 3s. Dated 10 Sept., 1 Richard III (1483). [Roughly altered as a draft for a lease from abbot John to John Playford and John Talbot for 20 years; dated 10 Sept. ... Henry VIII, year not filled in. Abbot John Reeve succeeded in 1514.]
Edmund Lyster, master of the hospital of St. James, apostle, of Donawyc, and the brethren and sisters of the same place, grant to farm to William Burnham of Earl Soham (Earl's Soham) a piece of land in the village of Brandeston (Brandyston), paying annually for the same 3s. 4d. Indenture made at Dunwich (Donewyc) Monday in Pentecost week, 3 Hen. IV (15 May 1402).
