Memorandum that at the first court of John Alen held for the manors of Caleis, Methold's and Wimbold's ( Methwolds, Wymbolds), and Tylneys, 28 July, 11 Elizabeth (1569), it was presented that John Fyrmyn surrendered certain lands into the hands of the lord to the use of George Hicks and his heirs, &c.

Edward Appulton grants to Adam Wyntropp a pasture and certain land in Groton. Dated at Groton, 20 June, 2 Elizabeth (1560).

LAVENHAM. Writ of King Edward III to the bailiff of Bury St Edmunds (St. Edmund), reciting a grant to Robert de Veer, earl of Oxford, releasing his tenants &c. of his manor of Lavenham from paying toll throughout the kingdom, and commanding the bailiff (as often before) not to molest or distrain for toll when the said tenants shall come to Bury St Edmunds (St. Edmund)'s. Tested at Windsor Castle (Windsor), 22 Feb., 4 of his reign (1330). Noted at the foot, "Nota dorsum cedule contra istud breve plane", and on the back is a recital of priviledges granted to the abbey of St. Edmund by Hen. I, to which this writ is said to be contrary.

MELDINGE. Gilbert Page of Milden (Meldinge) grants to Thomas ...dringe land in Milden (Meldinge). Dated at Milden (Meldinge) the Thursday next after the feast of St. Martin, bp., 15 Ed. II (12 Nov. 1321).

NEWTON. Effaced, except in a few words; temp. Edw. III. The name of Bryan occurs.

Newton William Stonherd of Newton (Neutone) grants to James his son one piece of a curtilage lying near his curtilage. Dated at Newton (Neutone) the Tuesday next after the translation of St. Thomas the martyr, 18 Ed. III (13 July 1344).

Indenture made 16 July, 2 Henry VIII (1510), between dame Anne Arundell of the one part, and Robert S... of Great Waldingfield (Great Waldyngfeld), of the other part, by which the said dame Anne sells to the said Robert a meadow in Newton. [Only partially legible.]

STANSTEAD. William le Folyur of Glemsford (Glemisford) confirms to Walter his son and Alice his daughter, for their homage and service, and for 20s. in hand paid, a messuage with a meadow in the parish of Stanstead, paying annually to Walter, son of Walter de Tilneye, 21d., with a dinner of the lord, or to have one penny each. (c. 1270-1280.)

STOKE NAYLOND. Indenture made 5 February, 3 Ed. VI (1549), by which the right to the presentation of the vicarage of Stoke by Nayland (Stoke Naylond) is adjudged to belong to William, bishop of Norwich, and acknowledged by Thomas Throughgood of London, gentleman, between whom an action concerning the right to the same had been instituted, and by Thomas Ruddock, vicar of Stoke by Nayland (Stoke Naylond).

Robert de Halsted remits and quit-claims to John Carbonel all his right in the meadows of the said John called 'Chiltone medwe' near Sudbury (Subir)' avout which there was a suit in the king's court between Robert Carbenel, father of the said John and William Elys and others of the burg of Sudbury (Subere). Dated at Sudbury (Subir)' the Wednesday on the feast of the Nativity of our Lord, 9 Ed. I (25 Dec. 1280).

Illegible writ of K. Rich. II to the sheriff of Suffolk. [Almost entirely effaced.] [between 1377 and 1399]

Bond given by ... of Boxford and Robert Rudlond to .... Holmes, widow, and William Holmes in a sum of £40 to abide a certain award. Dated 31 March, 27 Hen. VIII (1536). [Partly effaced.]

John Grene of Sudbury (Sudburgh) and Isabella his wife grant to Thomas Grene their son and Elizabeth his wife, their water-mill in Sudbury (Sudburgh) and 3 pieces of land and one piece of meadow in Sudbury (Sudburgh). Dated at Sudbury (Sudburgh), 7 Oct., 14 Hen. VI (1435).

John Woode of Sudbury (Sudbery), cordwainer, grants to Walter atte Woode of Edwardstone (Edwardston), fuller, Will Rodelond and Thomas Aldows, a messuage in Sudbury All Saints (Sudbery, in the parish of All Saints). Dated at Sudbury (Sudbery), 27 Jan., 24 Hen. VI (1446).

Alice Rogerys of Sudbury, late wife of Thomas Grey, Thomas Ayloff, mercer, and others demise to Robert Halghton of Sudbury and others, two messuages in Sudbury All Saints (Sudbury in All Saints)' parish. Witn. Thomas Long, bailiff of Sudbury, etc. Dated at Sudbury, 14 Jan., 2 Hen. VII (1487).

John Shipley of Sudbury remits and quit-claims to Robert Fynche, clerk, Richard Dawson and Joan his wife, and others all his right and interest in two messuages with gardens in the parish of Sudbury All Saints (All Saints, Sudbury). Dated 30 Sept., 12 Hen. VII (1496).

John Wyner of Sudbury, draper, and Thomas Loveday of the same, carpenter, demise to Robert Ffynch of Bulmer (Bulmer, Essex), clerk, and Joan Dawson of the same, widow, two messuages with gardens in Sudbury. Dated at Sudbury, 22 May, 18 Hen. VII (1503).
