Dated at Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvyle) the Thursday on the feast of St. John, apostle, 32 Ed. III. Charters Suffolk 1262-65 are endorsed as having been exhibited in a law-suit, 15 March, 1697/98.

CARLETON COLVILE. William Horman, Robert Rypyng, and Robert Dolfyn, of Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvile), grant to John Oldryng and Agnes his wife one messuage, 34 acres of land, and 3s. annual rent in Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvyle). Dated there, 16 Oct., 14 Hen. VI (1435).

William Rypyng of Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvyle), John Denyell, Thomas Whitton, Robert Thyrkeld, Thomas Craske, and Thomas Dolphyn demise and confirm to Thomas, son of John Olderyng, all those messuages, lands, &c. in Carlton (Carleton) aforesaid which they had by feoifment of the said John Olderyng. Dated at Carlton (Carleton) aforesaid, 6 June, 3 Ed. IV (1463).

Thomas Dolphyn of Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvyle), William Rypyng, John Denyell, and Thomas Whitton, at the requisition of Thomas Olderyng of Carlton (Carleton) aforesaid, demise to John, son of the said Thomas, and Alice his wife, Alexander Olderyng, Robert Dolphyn, sen., John Craske, and John Everarde all his messuages and lands in Carlton (Carleton) aforesaid, to hold the same for the said John and Alice and their heirs after the decease of the said Thomas Olderyng and Margaret his wife. William Herman of Gisleham (Gyslam), Richard Rypyng of Mutford, and Robert Dolfyn of Carlton (Carleton) grant to John Oldryng and Agnes his wife two messuages, 34 acres of land, and 3s. of annual rent in the village of Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvyle), which they had had by the grant of the said John, for the term of their lives, with remainder to their son Thomas Oldryng and Margaret his wife. Indenture made 2 August, 28 Hen. VIII (1536), between John Couper of Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvyle) and Alys his wife of the one part, and John Jettor of Lowestoft (Lowystoft) of the other part, witnesseth that the said John and Alys sell to him all their messuages, lands, and tenements in Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvyle). Indenture (on paper) dated 20 June, 23 Elizabeth (1581), by which John Jernegon of Somerleyton, esq., demised to George Hervy of Oulton his "heathe doole" in the town of Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvyle) for 21 years, at an annual rent of 2s. Signed.

Indenture dated 16 October, 4 James I (1606), by which Francis Claxton of Wissett (Wysset, co. Suffolk), gent., in consideration of the receipt of £500, sells to Nicholas Battely the younger, of Rumburgh (Romburgh, co. Suffolk), yeoman, lands, tenements, &c. in Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvile).

Final concord, made at Westminster on the morrow of All Souls, 2 Charles I, by which John Codd and Mary his wife, Henry Coppinger and Sarah his wife, and Richard Burnell acknowledge that two messuages, one curtilage, two gardens, orchard, &c. and certain lands in Carlton Colville (Carleton Colvyle), Barsham, Ilketshall St Andrew (Ilkettishall St. Andrews), and Lowestoft belong to Robert London, sen., and Edmund Smith; for this fine the said Robert and Edmund gave to John and Marya, Henry and Sarah, and Richard, £100 sterling.

Indenture made 10 October, 1626, by which Robert London of Wheatacre (Whetacre) and Edmund Smith of Gillingham are to have a fine levied by John Codd and Mary his wife and Henry Coppinger and Sarah his wife and Richard Burnell for conveying certain messuages and lands in the above villages to them.

Richard Benet of Thurton (Teurtone) grants to William de Winst⟨on⟩, chaplain, for his homage and service and 2s. of silver, 2d. of annual rent from William, son of Serlo of Plumstead (Plumstede), for one acre of land in the field of Gedgrave (Cattegrave), paying annually one apple for all service. CLARE. Mutilated convention, dated St Michael's day 1327, by which Edmund son of sir John de Norttoft, knt. leases his manor of Tilbury juxta Clare (Tyllebery juxta Clare) to several persons (names altered).

CHELMONDESTON. Indenture made 31 March, 41 Elizabeth (1599), between Robert Mighell of Chelmondiston (Chelmondeston, Suffolk), and Robert Cundy of .... by which the said Robert Mighell leases to Robert Cundy [or Curdy] a marsh and certain closes ... [Partly effaced.]

Indenture made 16 August, 1 Mary, between sir Robert Crane of Chilton, esq., of the one part, and John Coolie , gent., of the second part, witnesseth that the said Robert grants to the said John certain lands in Chilton aforesaid. [Slightly mutilated, and in part effaced.]

John Folour of Sudbury, butcher, Henry Turnour, and 5 others enfeoff John Folour, mercer, Thomas Ayloff, and 6 others with all those lands and tenements in Great Cornard, lately demised to them together with William Skalder and two others. Dated at Great Cornard, 4 September, 16 Ed. IV (1476).

CREETING ST. MARY, CREETING ALL SAINTS, and CREETING ST. OLIVE. Sir Ralph de Buckyngge, kt., appoints Hamo del Wode his attorney to deliver seisin to William del Wode of Creeting St Mary (Cretyngge St. Mary) of one curtilage in the same village. Dated at Ashbocking (Assch' near Helmingham) the Sunday next after the feast of St. Botulph, 20 Ed. III. [See Ch. Suffolk 626.]

Edmund Langeman of Coddenham (Codenham) grants to John Colman, sen., son of John Colman of Coddenham (Codenham), one annual rent of 5s. going out of those lands and tenements in Creeting St Mary (Cretyng St Mary) and Creeting All Saints (All Saints). Dated at Coddenham (Codenham) the Saturday in the feast of the Translation of St. Thomas, martyr, 9 Hen. VI.
