Grant. Rowney, Benedictine priory. 11 September, 36 Hen. VI (1457). . Grant from Agnes Selby, the prioress, and convent of Rowheiney, alias Rowenea, alias Reveneia, otherwise called the nunnery of St. John the Baptist of Mundene, alias Rownay, after due consideration of the insufficiency of their diminished revenues for their support, and the ruinous state of their church and house, and the sincere devotion and pious intention of John Fray, the true patron of the same, to the said John the church, house, or priory, with all and singular the manors, lands, tenements, meadows, woods, rents, reversions and services for ever. Grant. Kirkstead, Cistercian abbey. 1163, in the month of July, on St. James' day (1163). . Grant from Robert de Marmium to the church and monks of St. Mary of Kyrkestede, the whole half of the land which Adelsi, son of Bern, and Asketin, son of Od, his nephew, held of his predecessors, or of the said Robert in Ruchtuna, viz. 6 bovates of land, with all the benefits of their works, and buildings, mills, etc., and all other easements; with the wood of Torntun and paying annually to him and his heirs 30s. He grants all this with the free will of Adelsi's nephew, Robert Calf, and his brother Asketin, and and their mother Ingerida. Dated at Luda.

Grant from Mary, who was the [second] wife of Philip Marmyon [died 1292, when daughter Joan was 8 years old], of the manor of Scrivelby with appurtenances and the advowsons of the churches of Scrivelby, Holtham, Rughton, Conesby, and Wilkesby, to Thomas de Lodelowe and Joan his wife, daughter of the said Mary, saving an annual payment of 40 for the term of her life.

Quitclaim by Sir John Talbot, kt., lord of Furnyvale, son and heir apparent of John, earl of Shrewsbury, to John Fray, chief Baron of the Exchequer, in his full and peaceable possession of the manor of Munden Furnyvale, all his right of and in the said manor and in the advowsons of the church of Munden and the priory of Rownehey with appurtenances in the county of Hertford, saving to the said John Talbot the homage and service of one knight's fee.

VI, between John Fray and Ralph Gray, plaintiffs, and Thomas Porter, esq., and Anne his wife, cousin and one of the heirs of Thomas Howard, esq., and John Bellers, esq., another heir, defendants, concerning the manor of Great Munden, with appurtenances, and of the advowsons of the churches of the said manor and priory of Royney, and of100s, rent, also 3 Ibs. of cummin and two cloves in Great Munden, Wakelee, and Watton atte Stone, acknowledged to be the right of John Fray, for which the said defendants received 300 marks of silver.

Indenture made between dame Margaret Gudchepe, prioress of the priory of St. Michael beside Staunford on the one part, and William Brewster of Wyrthorp and Annez his wife on the other, of a lease from the said prioress of a cottage with a garden in Wyrthorp for 20 years, at an annual rent of 12d [English]

Writ from King Henry VI, dated at Westminster, 1 March, 8th of his reign, to the escheator of the co. of Buckingham, concerning the property of Otho de Wortlyngton and of others, heirs and heiresses of William de Say, and for delivey of seisin to Roger […] now of full age [mutilated].

Notification of grant. Stallingborough (Lincolnshire) (manor). Feast of St. Peter ad vincula, 23 Ed. I (1295). . Notice given by Norman de Arcy, son of Sir Philip de Arcy, to Sir Richard de Arcy of Flixburg, Sir Robert de Lisle, lord of Salekline, William Pynton of Konyngesby, Sir Robert de Nevill, and many others, free tenants of the manor of Stalyngburgh, that he has granted to his son and heir, Sir Robert de Arcy, all their homages and services. Dated at his manor of Noketon. On the dorse is a copy of a grant by Sir Robert de Arcy to Sir Philip de Kyme [?] of the whole manor of Stalyngburgh, enumerating all the tenants. Grant from Robert, son of Sir Norman de Arcy, kt., to Sir Philip de Kyme, kt., the whole of his manor of Stalyngburgh with appurtenances ; also the homage and whole of the services of William de Moigne, Agnes le Moigne, and others, which they held of him in the county of Lincoln; also he grants Walter Scharpe his native, with all his chattels, etc., to hold the same for ever (copy).

Grant. Bickerton (Northumberland), Great Tosson (Northumberland). [c. 1300] (1300). . Indenture witnessing that Thomas, son of Hugh de Bykerton, lord of Bykerton, grants to Hugh his son, in free marriage with Alice, daughter of Sir Luke Tailleboys, lord of Heppehale, the whole of his land and meadow of Farmley in Bykerton with appurtenances ; and the said Sir Luke grants the service of multure due and accustomed to the mill of Great Tossan to Hugh and Alice his daughter and their heirs.

Agreement. Mottisfont, priory of Austin canons. Feast of the Purification B.V.M. [2 February], 22 Ed. I (1294). . Agreement between Sir John de Farlynton, lord of Asly, kt., of the one part, and Thomas, the prior, and convent of Motesfont of the other, by which that the said John leases the whole of his fishpond of Tymberbury, with appurtenances for 17 years ; for this grant the said prior and convent gave 45 marks sterling.

Articles of complaint. Stanborough Hundred (Devon). [c. 1260-1270] (1270). . Articles of complaint from some knights against the Sheriff of Devonshire, with special complaints from Sir Roger de Mules[or Moeles] of Carswell, in the hundred of Stanberowe, praying for his removal and substitution of another knight in his place.

Confirmation of agreement and grant. Mottisfont, priory of Austin canons. [c. 1260-1270] (1270). . Confirmation by the Official of the Bishop of Winchester of the agreement between the abbot and convent of St. Edward of Letthely [Netley], and the prior and convent of Motesfunte, rectors of the church of Elinges, and patrons of the vicarage of the same, also Gilbert, perpetual vicar of the same church, concerning the tithe of hay from 13 1/2 acres of meadow, which the said abbot and convent had in Estmore, Stretforlang, and Loddingeham, within the limits of the parish of Elinges, which is conceded to belong to the said abbey: and for this agreement, 40s are given to the use of the vicarage (chirograph). Grant and assignment from Norman de Arcy, son of Philip de Arcy, to Sir Robert de Arcy, his son, and to his heirs and assigns, all the homages and other services of Sir Richard de Arcy of Flixeburg and others (enumerated), pertaining to the manor of Stalyngburgh or elsewhere. Agreement. Guisborough, Augustinian priory of St Mary. [c. 1260-1270.] (1270). . Indenture of agreement made between Ralph, the prior, and convent of Gyseburn of the one part, and Agnes, formerly wife of John Herbald, in her free widowhood, of the other, viz. that the prior and convent have granted to the aforesaid Agnes and her heirs two tofts and crofts, of which one is held by Adam Babe and another is held by Robert, son of Dene, in the village of Uplythum, in exchange for the half of one toft and croft which was formerly called the chapel toft, and one sellion of land, and she also quit-claims all right in tofts and crofts in Uggesthorpe.

Bull. Westminster, St Stephen's college. 13 Kal. December, 8th year of Pope Clement VI's pontificate [1349] (1349). . Bull of pope Clement [VI], addressed to the archbishop of Canterbury and bishop of Winchester exempting the college of St. Stephen, founded by the king in his palace of Westminster from all episcopal jurisdiction. Dated at Avignon [copy, c. 1400].

Grant. Scoreby (Yorkshire, North Riding) (manor), Stamford Bridge (Yorkshire, North Riding) (manor). Friday next after the Quindene of Easter, 1336 (1336). . Indenture witnessing that whereas Robert de Scorburg, kt., acknowledged in the king's court at York that he owed £1000 to be paid to Walter de Heselarton, kt., on the feast of Easter, 1343, the said Walter wills and grants for himself and heirs that if the said Robert convey to him and Eustachia his wife the manor of Scorreby and Staynfordbrigg at Easter aforesaid, then the bond for the said £1000 shall be void; with other conditions. Confirmation. Newhouse, abbey of Premonstratensian canons. [c. 1150-1168] (1168). . Confirmation by William de Lamara and Beatrice his mother, to Robert, bp. of Lincoln, of the gift of Adam, son of Hervey de Kiringtune, to the church and brethren of St. Martial of Neuhus, in frankalmoigne, of the toft Gunne Wate aud two bovates of land in Kirningtune, of the fee which the said William holds of the earl of Richemund; for the soul of Alan, father of the said William and uncle of Adam [25 witnesses].
