Nicholas, bp. of Kildare, grants that all penitents who solicit the [grace] of Holy Mother Church and of the kingdom of England at the altar of St. Mary, St. Bridget, and All Saints, praying for the safety of the Lady Ela, countess of Warwick, while she is alive, and for her soul when she is dead, as well as those who offer other prayers, and those who serve the altar, shall receive an indulgence of 40 days. ⟨15 Sept.⟩ 1272. Letters patent of Edward I confirming Magna Carta and the Charter of the Forest. Dated at Lincoln. 14 Feb. ⟨1301.⟩ On the folded-over strip at the bottom is “Oxon’, et examinat’ per A. de Osgoteby”, in a hand of about the same date.

Consequent upon a visitation, John de Backyngton, doctor of decrees and Commissary of the bp. of Lincoln, grants to Osney Abbey all their churches and chapels with their tithes, to their own use. ⟨19 Nov.⟩ 1397.

Margaret Dymmok, executrix of the will of John Dymmok, late her husband, quit-claims to William, abbot of Oseney, all personal actions which she had or might have against him. Because her seal is unknown to many she has had this sealed by the Archdeacon of Oxford’s Official. 27 Nov. ⟨1419.⟩

John Salesbery of Gloucester is bound to the abbot of Osney in 10 marks, payable at Michaelmas. 4 Oct. ⟨1443.⟩

William Newman, of Oxford, gentleman, is bound to Thomas, abbot of Osney, in 40 marks, payable at Easter. 10 May ⟨1452.⟩

Shipton-on-Cherwell, co. Oxon. William Toki grants to Adam son of Thomas de Cudelintone, for his service, a messuage in Sipton, between the messuage of St. John parvi pontis (Oxford) and the messuage of Alice late the daughter of Richard Thoki, with 6 acres of arable land in S., and ½ acre of meadow in Pilwarde, which Henry le Sire once held. The abbot of Waltham and the Dean of London, executors for the tenth announce that Jacob Gilii, partner and proctor of Philip Burgy de Mozi, John Grandoni, partner and proctor of Philip Gerardini de Spini, and John Aldebrandini de Clarentino, merchants of the papal chamber, have received from Osney Abbey £115 by the hands of brother Hugh de Comptone, their fellow canon and proctor, in part payment. ⟨15 Nov.⟩ 1301.
