Indenture between John Hearinge son and heir of John Hearinge of Mendham, deceased, and Thomas Freston of the same, esq., conveying to the latter certain messuages, etc. to hold until William Hearinge come to the age of 21, on consition of his undertaking the sole executorship of the will of the said John Hearinge, deceased. Dated 30 Sept. 6 Charles [I], 1630.

Conveyance by Robert Greene of Mendham, yeoman, to John Hobart of Weybread (Weybred), Thomas Foreston and William Heringe of Mendham, and Thomas Greene of the parish of St James South Elmham (St. James South Elmham), of the messuage called Brevetts or Bruetts late of Nicholas Greene, deceased, father of the said Robert, for the term of 60 years, in tust for payment of rents, repairs, and debts now owing, and for the use of the said Robert and Mary his wife. 11 Dec. 14 Charles [I].

MENDLESHAM. Lease from Edward and John Crane, gents., to Margery Blomfyld of Little Stonham, and Robert her son of twelve acres of land in Mendlesham (Mendylsham), for twenty years, at a yearly rent of 13s. 4d. 20 May, 27 Hen. VIII (1535).

METTFIELD. Deed of sale by Robert Scarlett of Starston (Starston, Norf.), yeoman, to Thomas Freston, of Mendham, esq., of the messuage in Metfield (Mettfield) called Bees or Dukes, and the pightell or piece of land in Mendham called Spinkes pightell, etc. 7 April 3 Charles [I].

MICHELHAM. Marriage settlement between Thomas, duke of Norfolk and Henry, earl of Arundel on the proposed marriage of Thomas Howard, earl of Surrey, cousin and heir apparent of the said duke, to Mary, one of the daughters of the said earl, in which the earl undertakes to convey the manors of Michelham Parkgate (Mychelham, Parkgate), Sternfeld, Downash (Downask )and others in the county of Sussex. 6 April 1 Q. Mary.

Robert Lute, parson of the church of Delton Terryng(?) next Mildenhale, Robert Jervys, and others, demise to William Soper a meadow for 14 years. Dated Ed. IV. [In great part effaced.]

The will of Robert Chestun of Mildenhall (Mylldenall, in the county of Suffolk), made 38 Hen. VIII, 3 May, 1546. [A small part effaced.]

Condition of a mortgage to Oliver Morden of Eriswell (Earswell), gent., in consideration of the receipt of £104, by Richard Childerston, alias Cheston, gent., certain messuages, orchards, dove-house, 25 acres of land, &c. 14 May 1623. [Mutilated.]

PLAYFORD. Original will of dame Elizabeth Felton of Playford (Playford, co. Suffolk), dated 8 July, 1639.

WEYBRIDGE. The will of Edward Curson late of Weybread (Waybridge, co. Suffolk), gentleman, dated 1651, to be buried at 26 May, Burnham Overy (Burnham Overy, Norfolk).

Indenture dated 20 April, 33 Henry VIII (1542), by which Richard Freeston of Mendham, esq., demises to Nicholas Godard of Wickham Skeith (Wikhamskeyth), yeoman, a meadow, part of the manor of Wickham Skeith (Wichamskeyth), for 42 years at an annual rent of 3s. 4d.

Indenture dated 7 January, 35 Henry VIII (1544), witnesseth that Richard Freston of Mendham, lord of the manor of Wickham Skeith (Wicham Skeyth), in consideration of the payment of £12, grants to Nicholas Godard of Wickham Skeith (Wikhamskeyth) three acres of land in Wickham Skeith (Wikhamskeyth) for 300 years, at 3d annual rent.

Indenture made 14 May, 35 Hen. VIII (1543), by which Richard Freston of Mendham, esq., demises to Thomas Bedwall and Elizabeth his wife and their sons, Symond, John the Elder, and John the Younger, the site of the manor of Wykham called Wickham Skeith (Wykham Hall) and lands, &c. for 99 years, at an annual rent of £10.

Indenture made 10 November, 35 Hen. VIII (1543), by which Richard Freston of Mendham, esq., lord of the manor of Wickham Skeith (Wyhamskeyth), in consideration of the receipt of .90, demises unto John Brame (or Branne) of Stoke Ash (Stokeasshe), yeoman, certain land in Wickham Skeith (Wykhamskeyth) for the term of three hundred years, at an annual rent of iiiid.

Indenture dated 7 December, 35 Hen. VIII (1543), by which Richard Freston of Mendham, esq., lord of the manor of Wickham Skeith (Wikhamskeyth), in consideration of the receipt of £6, demises to Edward Dove of Wickham Skeith (Wickham Skeyth) a small close of land in Wickham Skeith (Wikhamskeyth) for the term of 99 years, at an annual rent of iiiid.

Indenture dated 10 Decemb., 37 Hen. VIII (1545), by which Richard Freston of Mendham (Mendham in the co. of Suffolk), lord of Wickham Skeith (Wykhamskeyth), demises to John Brame of Stoke Ash (Stokeasshe) (The name is clearly Brame in the rental record), for £10 14s. 6d. in hand paid, one close called Grenecroft lying in Wickham Skeith (Wykhamskeyth), for 1000 years, at an annual rent of 1d.

Indenture dated 21 April, 14 Q. Eliz. (1572), by which Richard Freston of London, gent. demises to John Bedwall his lands, pastures, &c. in Wickham Skeith (?) (Wykham), called Holgateland, for 3 years, at an annual rent of 30s.

LOUNDE. The will of William Maydewell of Lound (Lounde), dated 1427; proved 27 Jan., 15 Feb., 1429 at Mutford before William Talmach. [Partially effaced.]
