VI (1547), by which Robard Sharpe and Nicolas Avys the elder, supervisors of the lands and tenements given to the town of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund) by Margaret Odam, gentylwoman, according to the will of the said Margaret, have demised to William Parke of Bury St Edmunds (Bury), mercer, a shop without a 'soeler' in the Fyshmarket for 21 years, at an annual rent of 8s.

Agnes Illyon of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund), single woman, in co. Suffolk, grants for a sum of £18 to Margaret Tyrell of Wetherden, widow, one messuage situate in Bury St Edmunds (Bury) aforesaid, between a messuage lately Henry Wisshe's on the north and a lane on the south, and abutting towards the east upon the street called Churchegovellstrete and towards the west upon Maister Andrew's strete. Dated at Bury St Edmunds (Bury), 10 December, 2 Ed. VI (1548).

Juliana Orysby of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund), late wife of John Orysby, for a sum of £9 grants to William Brown a messuage and land with two houses in Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund), situated in the street called Netemarket. Indenture dated 7 Aug. 2 and 3 Philip and Mary, by which Roger Barbour and William Parke of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund), mercer demyse and grant to Edmund Hawkyns, grocer a close containing 7 a. 3 r. 18p. in Westgatefelde of Bury St Edmunds (Bury), for 21 years, at an annual rent of 24s.

Indenture made 24 Nov., 9 Elizabeth, by which Thomas Buttery of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund), yeoman sells to John Nycholysson, for 100 pounds, two pieces of arable land lying in the fields of Bury St Edmunds (Bury) aforesaid, containing 11 acres.

Power of attorney given by Thomas, duke of Norfolk, to Thomas Kytsen, esq. and Thomas Andrews, gent., to be his deputies in the office of Seneschal of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund). Dated 20 January, 10 Elizabeth (1568).

Henry Collyn and Anthony Butler, gents., grant to Richard Moore the whole of a stone chapel in Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund) on the S. and W. of le Risbygate which late belonged to the monastery of Bury St. Edmund. Dated 12 April, 13 Elizabeth (1571).

Bond entered into by Thomas Barnard of Hargrave (Hardygrave, Suffolk), "sponer", in a sum of twenty marks, for the sale of a garden and a tenement in the High Street, Bury St Edmunds (Bury) to Thomas Cleris, discharging the letter from the dower of Margaret wife of the said Thomas Barnard. Dated 14 October, 14 Elizabeth (1572).

Richard More of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund), draper (?), enfeoffs John Hiegham, sir Thomas Kytson, knt., and 22 others in the whole of a late ("nuper") stone chapel situated in Bury St Edmunds (Bury) aforesaid to the west of le Rysbyegate. Dated 24 April, 25 Elizabeth, 1583.

Indenture by which George Dawson, "imbreyderer", for good causes and considerations, grants to John Cadge, yeoman and Thomas Spittilhowse, draper of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund) a messuage and garden in Bury St Edmunds (Bury) aforesaid, in the street called 'le Churchegatestrete' in perpetuity. Dated 8 June, 29 Elizabeth, 1587.

Indenture made 15 May, 34 Elizabeth 1592, by which Christopher Baker of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund), scrivener demises to farm to Gregory Bridon, "bower", a messuage in Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund) for 21 years, at an annual rent of 1d.

Thomas Bright of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund), draper, son and heir of Thomas Bright, deceased, grants to Thomas Reade of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund), mercer, a messuage situated in Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund) in the street called le Bokrowe. Dated 20 December, 39 Q. Elizabeth, 1596.

HOLLESLEY, &c. Indenture made 20 May, 38 Elizabeth (1596), witnesseth that William Cade of London, gent., has leased to John Hobart of the Middle Temple 40 acres of marsh in Hollesley (Howesley), and lands and tenements &c. elsewhere, as in letters patent, 37 of Q. Eliz., being part of the lands of the dissolved monastery of Butley in Suffolk, for 21 years.

BBAMPSTON. Indenture between Adam Reyner, master of the hospital of St. James, Donewic, of one part, and John Crakenell of Brampton (Bramston) of the other, witnesseth that the master and brethren and sisters of the hospital have demised to the said John two pieces of land lying in Brampton (Bramston) for 30 years, at an annual rent of 2s. l0d. Dated on the feast of St. Mary Magdalen, 15 Hen. VII (22 July 1500).

Indenture made on the feast of St. Michael, 21 Henry VII (29 Sept. 1505), by which Adam Reyner, master of the hospital of St. James in Donwich, grants to James Davy of Brampton (Bramston) a messuage &c. in Brampton (Bramston) for a term of 76 years, paying yearly 10s. to the use of the said hospital.

William Dale, prior of the priory of St. Olave, Heringflete, grants to ... Owden of Somerleyton, son and heir of Thomas Owden, a certain annual rent from two cottages in Ashby (Askeby). Dated .... December, 5 Hen. VIII (1513). [Partly effaced.]

Indenture dated 19 Jan., 20 Hen. VII (1505), witnesseth that the prior, Rich. Foorthy and convent of Christe Chirche of the Trinite of Gippeswiche have granted to Agnes Crane, widow, their manor called Mynyotts in Creting and Coddenham for 31 years, at an annual rent of £4 l0s.

Mendlesham. Indenture made at Mendham abbey (sic), 9 September, 2 Henry VIII (1510), between Thomas Bullok, the prior of the house of our lady of Mendham and the convent, of the one part, and Robert Flouere, "syngilman" of the other part, by which the prior and convent demise a close called Denford to the said Robert. Writ addressed by king Hen. VIII to the sheriff of Suffolk, to the effect that sir Humphrey Wyngfeld, kt., and others, have recovered in the king's court at Westminster the manors of Mendham Priory (Mendham) and Mendham Kingshall (Kyngeshall), with other rents and lands elsewhere, against Thomas, the prior of Mendham. Dated at Westminster, 18 November, 26 Hen. VIII (1534).

Thomas Wolsey, archbishop of York, remits and quit-claims to the duke of Norfolk, Thomas Wentworth, Philip Tylney, John Cornewales, Edmund Wyndham, and Edmund Knevet, all right, &c. to lands, advowsons, &c. belonging to the priory of Felixstowe, co. Suffolk. Dated 20 October, 21 Hen. VIII (1529). Granted to them by Will. Capon, the master of the College of St. Mary at Gipewic of which he was the founder.

Joan Permeter of Acton (Aketon), widow, grants to Robert Person of Acton (Aketon), chaplain, one messuage in Acton (Aketon), between the land of the prior of Hatfield Peverell of the one part, and the way leading from the well called 'Ladywell' on the other, abutting on the land of Thomas Ormond, knt., lord Ormond, called Gottesmersshe. Dated at Acton (Aketon), 29 April, 16 Hen. VII (1501).

Indenture made 12 May, 10 Hen. VIII (1518), by which the lady Anne Arundel, widow, leases to Robert Bryon a messuage and all that belongs to it in Acton (Aketon), for 10 years, at an annual rent of £8 13s. 4d. [much rubbed]

Indenture dated 30 June, 37 Hen. VIII (1545), by which Robert Crane , esq., demises to Robert Man of Acton (Aketon), husbandman, his mease in Acton (Aketon) called Gybbes att Bearne, with lands &c. thereto belonging, for 12 years, at an annual rent of £9.
