Roger the porter of D⟨aventry⟩ grants to William his son, for his homage and service, (i) that manse in D⟨aventry⟩ which is between the manse of William de B—— on one side and that of Walter de Braibroc on the other; (ii) one a[cre] of land—½ an acre in the south field reaching to the Baddeby road, and ½ an acre in the north field, lying over ‘le Lome’. Rent: a pair of gloves worth ½d. at Easter, for all service saving the principal service pertaining to the manse: also he is to keep a lamp burning while mass is sung in the parish church of D⟨aventry⟩ for the soul of the grantor, Matilda his wife, &c., Witnesses: John Gemme , William fitz-Nigel , Geoffrey the porter , Robert fitz-Nigel , John de Neubold , Henry the smith , Jordan of Draitone .
