SNEYLHAM. Robert, son of Henry Walkelyn of Paulynescraye co. Kent, grants to John de Pydyngton of co. Buckingham and Margery his wife the whole of the manor of Sneylham in co. Sussex, which he had by feoffment of the said Margery ; with remainders to Robert son of Gervase Alard , and to the heirs of the said John . Dated at Gestlyngg, 15 July, 17 Ed. III.

STEYNING. Robert le Proo grants to Robert de Effingetun, merchant, and Agnes his wife, for their service and 26s., the whole of his land which is called 'la Dene' which lies on the north part of the land of Alice Shereschinges , and on the south of the king's way which leads from Steninges towards Polebererer(?). (c. 1240-50.)

Sir John de Polyngefaude, kt., grants to Henry de la Felde and Joan his wife and their heirs, for 100s., 6s. 8d. annual rent which William de Asshelye annually paid for a watermill in Wernham and Slyndefolde, ... a rent of half a pound of cummin paid by the said William for a tenement at la Hidmulle, which the grantor had from Richard la Porter . (c. 1280-90.)

Richard le Crockere grants to Oliver de Assely , for 16s. all his right and claim to half a pound of cummin which the said Oliver was accustomed to pay him for land in Wernham. (c. 1260-70.)

Convention dated Easter, 13 Ed. II, between John de Klympesfold of the one part, and William de Asselye of the other, by which the said John grants to the said William one parcel of land in Wernham from the field called Herstfeld, with agreements about maintenance of enclosures and the making ditches.

⟨ Warnham ⟩ Richard le Thecchem of Wernham remits and quit-claims to Thomas atte Hecche and William his son of the same village, all right in 1d. of annual rent from a field called 'Le Hok.' (c. 1280-1290.)

Richard Geffray of Warnham grants to Joan his daughter one field called 'le Rude' containing eight acres in Warnham. Dated at Warnham, 7 December, 6 Hen. IV.

Joan Geffray, daughter of Richard Geffray of Warnham , grants to William Erl and Richard Rikeman one parcel of land called les Northcroftes and 2s. of rent from the land called Wardes, and 7d. of rent from the garden of William Tannere , and one field called 'Le Rude' in Warnham. Dated at Warnham the Sunday next after the feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, 3 Hen. V.

John Cok of Wernham grants to Stephen Sloghterford , Richard Ede , Philip May , and John Roser the whole of the land called les Northcroftes in Wernham and 2s. of rent from the land called Wardes and 7d of rent from the garden of Thomas Tannere . Dated at Wernham, 20 May, 12 Hen. VI.

John Cok of Warnham remits and quit-claims to Stephen Sloghterford , Richard Ede , Philip May , and John Roser all right in that parcel of land called 'lez Northcroftez' in Warnham, and in the rents of 2s. and 7d as above [Ch. 290]. Dated at Warnham, 20 Oct., 19 Hen. VI.

John Goryng , Thomas Covert , John Okendene , Stephen Combe, and Thomas Mauncell appoint John Nore their attorney to give full seisin of and in a tenement called Bradbrigges, and lands &c. to the same adjacent, called Hydys, old Bradbrigges, Lyons, Townelands, and a meadow called Rogers, exepting 8s. of rent had by John Roserey, in Warnham, also lands in Hechyngfeld, Horsham, Rowsparre, &c. , to John Bradbrigge . HORSHAM. Godfrey de Crokhurst grants to William ate Denne and Joan his wife one messuage and 14 acres of arable land in a field called 'Brodefeld' in the parish of Horsham, also the reversion of 13 acres and 1 rood in Crokhurst with other lands in Crokhurst and Horsham. Dated at Horsham the Thursday next after the feast of the Holy Trinity, 14 Ed. II.

SADDLESCOMBE. Condition of a bond in £200 from sir Thomas de Nerford to master Paunce de Controno , that the said Thomas shall give up with 15 days of Pentecost the beasts, goods and chattels of the manor of Sadelescombe which he held of the prior of the hospital [of St John of Jerusalem], and which the said Paunce had sold to the prior, in accordance with an inventory made between the Prior and Paunce's brother Peregrine . Dated at Westminster the Friday next after the feast of the Annunciation B.V. M., 1 Ed. III.
