OTHAM. Geoffrey de St. Leodegario [St. Leger] confirms to [the church of] St. Laurence and the canons of ⟨Otteham⟩ , "he.b'...ton (?)" in frankalmoigne, Eadward Crepp . (c. 1200.)

BROKELE. Walter, bp. of Rochester , confirms the gift of Juliana the countess, and Michael de Torneham her seneschal, of land &c. for the support of the canons of Wellesford at Brokele in frankalmoigne. c. 1180 [Walter, bp. of Rochester, 1147-1183.] .

NODINGEFORD. Robert de Glotingham grants to the church of St. Mary of Beigham, in frankalmoigne, the half of his land of Nodingeford, viz. a fourth part of one knight's fee. (c. 1190-1200.) .

Convention between the abbot and convent of Begeham of one part, and Ranaulf le Rudde of the other, by which the said Ranaulf grants to the said abbot and convent the land which Thomas of the Marsh held of him, and granges .... in exchange for 13 acres one rood of land .... (c. 1210-20.) In great part illegible.

Herbert de Burgherse grants to Richard the sompner (sumonitori} of Leawes , for his service, 12 acres of land in the marsh of Heilesham, paying annually for the same the third part of one half-mark, and at Christmas, the third part of one pound of pepper and one pound of cummin. For this donation the said Richard gave 23 marks of silver, (c. 1220-30.) .

ABBEY OF BEIGHAM. BEIGHAM. Ela de Sakeville, daughter of Ralph de Dene , widow, confirms the grants of her father and brother &c. to the abbey of Otteham with license to transfer the abbey to Be[igham called Beaulieu]. [Mutilated.] (1200-1210.) The grant was confirmed by King John in 1210-11.

DENE. Robert de Dene, son of Sibilla de Dene , grants to the church of Begham, in frankalmoigne, 20s. of annual rent in the village of Dene, also half a mark of rent in Mereshale, and the advowson of the church of Westdene. (c. 1240-50) .

Michael de Tonge grants to the church of St. Mary of Begeham, in frankalmoigne, the whole of his land of Tonge, paying annually to him and his heirs 1d. (c. 1200-10.) .

KECHENHAM. Adam, son of Edric of West Kechenham , remits and quit-claims to the abbot and convent of Begeham the whole of the land which he held from the said abbot and convent in West Kechenham. (c. 1210-20.) .

Matilda de Bendestede, widow, grants to the abbot and convent of Begeham, in frankalmoigne, .... shillings and fourpence which John de .... Kerigge (?) was accustomed annually to pay her from a tenement, (c. 1230-40.) .

MATTEFELD. William, son of Alexander de Mattefeld , grants and quit-claims to the church of St. Mary of Begeham for 4 marks the whole of his land in Mattefeld, viz. 18 acres and the third part of a messuage, (c. 1260-70.) .

LAMBERHURST. (see rent page) Theobald Strangboghe grants to William le Reve two acres of land and wood lying in the parish of Lamberherst, paying annually to him and his heirs one halfpenny. For this grant the said Theobald received 24s. sterling. (c. 1250-60.) .

(Endorsement) Simon Payer of the parish of Fristhon grants to the abbot and canons of St. Mary, Begeham, in frankalmoigne, .... shillings of annual rent which Andrew de Croichuke (?) was accustomed to pay to him .... (c. 1250-60.) [Mutilated and in part illegible.] .

John de la Burne , with the assent of Agnes his wife, grants to the church of St. Mary of Begham a house in the parish of Lamberherst. (c. 1260-70.) [Mutilated.] .

Tattered fragment of Letters patent dated 8 M[ay], 41 Ed. III., being a grant of a licence of mortmain to the abbot and convent of Beggeham, to enable them to buy 4 acres of land and 3 acres of meadow in Lamburhurst.

HELLINGLEY. Laurence, the abbot and convent of Begham demise to Thomas le Bret and Isabel his wife .... in the village of Hellingeleghes . . . . (c. 1280-90.) [A fragment.] .

Robert Frendesbury, abbot of Beghame , and the convent of the same grant to farm to Henry Bakere of .... and John Drew of Otham , their manor of Otham for 20 years, paying to the abbot and convent of Begham five marks sterling, and to the prior and convent of Michelham 25 marks annually. Dated at Beghame on the Annunciation of the B.V. M., 6 Hen. IV.
