Grant from John Brokholes, clerk, to Alice who was the wife of Thomas Strikelond, late of Bedfordshire, all the lands, tenements, rents, and services which he has in the villages of Hoo and Pertenhall, and elsewhere in the same county; after her death, to revert to Edward, son and heir of the said Thomas, and his heirs for ever, in default of heirs then to Elizabeth his sister and others in succession as set forth in the charter. Writ from King Edward I to Simon de Grymmesby, escheator in the counties of York, Northumberland, Cumberland, and Westmorland, commanding him to pay, out of the lands of Ralph, late baron of Graistok, deceased, now in the king's hands, an annual rent of twenty marks, together with two robes and a saddle suitable for a knight (which said rent, robes and saddle were charged upon the manor of Hildreskelf held of John le Bygot, and certain other lands and tenements in Galinethorp held of Ralph de Nevill), to Thomas de Belton, knight, as with the arrears due to him. Grant from Sir Humphrey Stanley, kt., John Stokes, John Grene, William Burton, Richard Doughty, gentlemen, in accordance with the last will of William Benstede, esq., deceased, to Jocosa Dudley, all and singular the lordships, manors, lands, etc., in the counties of Hertford, Essex, Wiltes, and Southampton, or elsewhere within England, which they had to the use of the said William Benstede, by the concession of John Botyller, esq., John Clopton, esq., and Henry Sotehyll, except the manor of Stondbrugge in Essex, to hold the same for her life, with remainder to Edward Benstede and his heirs for ever ; and the said Sir Humphrey and the others appoint John Byrche their attorney for the delivery of seisin.

Writ. Westerdale Manor (Yorkshire, North Riding) (manor). 25 Feb., 10 Ed. [II] (1317). . Writ from King Edward II, to the sheriff of Warwick, reciting the inquisition on the death of Guy de Beauchamp, earl of Warwick, by which it was found that at his death he was seised in fee of the manor of Westerdale, a member of the barony of Castle Barnard, which said manor is alleged by John de Eure to be part of his barony of Stokesleye, and to have been in his possession ten weeks and more before the death of the said Guy; the said John having been dispossessed of the said manor by John le Irays, constable of Castle Barnard, the sheriff is commanded to make an inquiry into the said matters and to cite William la Zousche, who had married Alice, widow of the said Guy de Beauchamp, as the said manor had been assigned to her as dower. Confirmation. Lydiard Tregoze (Wiltshire) (manor). 6 July, 38 Ed. III (1364). . Confirmation by John de Grandison, bp. of Exeter, of the fine levied by of his brother Peter to Roger de Beauchamp and Sibil his wife, the bishop's niece, of the manor of Lydeyerd Tregoz with the advowson of the church, in the county of Wilts. Pleadings. Jervaulx, Cistercian abbey. [14 Oct.] 1214 (1214). . Pleadings in a cause between the abbot and convent of Jorevall and Ranulf, son of Robert, for preventing the said abbot pasturing and enjoying other easements in the forest of Wandesleydale, where he had built 39 houses; judgement given in favour of the Abbey on the day of pope Calistus, 1214. Endorsed with a copyof the foundation deed, in part illegible.

Writ. West Horndon (Essex) (manor). 30th May, 1 of Ed. II (1308). . Writ from King Edward II to R. de Pers, sheriff of Essex, setting out the grant of the manor of West Hordon [sic], from William de Trent, late citizen of London, to William Noyl, to hold to him and his heirs, which manor James Beauflour (whose daughter William Noyl had married) demised for a term of years to Geoffrey de la Lee, without the assent of the said William, and the said Geoffrey by fine granted the said manor to Hugh le Despenser, jun., to hold to him and his heirs for ever, and by forfeiture the said manor came to the hands of the king and was still held by him ; the king assigns John de Cantebrigg, Robert de Asshele, and Henry Gernet to make inquisition as to the truth of the said premises. Dated at York. Endorsed: "Istud Breve adeo tarde michi liberatum fuit quod illud exequi non potui propter temporis brevitatem. R. de Pers, vic.".

Quitclaim. Huntingdonshire (county). Thursday next after the feast of SS. Simon and Jude [3 November], 52 Hen. III (1267). . Quitclaim by John, son of John le Moyne of Selford, to Vincent de Stonle an annual rent of 5 marks, which he was accustomed to pay to the said John for the whole of that land which he has in the county of Huntingdon, as the father of the said John sometime held that land in Littlehei, for originally an annual payment of 4 marks, which rent has been reduced by two subsequent grants to an annual charge of 2s. for all services. Demise by Stephen Wolfe and Thomas Stoughton, citizens and fishermen of London, to Henry Bourgchier by John Say, esq., William Tyrell of Gyppynge, esq., John Mongomory, esq., Thomas Mongomory, esq., John Clopton, John Denston, esq., John Grene of Gosfeld, and David Mortymer, all those their lands and tenements, woods, meadows, pastures, rents, customs and services in Esenden and Hatfeld Bishops, co. Hertford, together with the advowson of the chantry of St. Anne in the church of Hatfeld Bishops, which they had conjointly by the demise of Sir Thomas Tyrell, kt., Sir Thomas Charleton, kt., and ten others. Judgement. Wigan (Lancashire). 17 Ed. II (1324). . Judgement (from the Plea Rolls of 17 Ed. II) against Robert de Cliderhou, parson of Wigan, who had supplied Thomas, earl of Lancaster, with two men at arms (one being his own son Adam) and four foot soldiers well armed, against the king and of preaching publicly in his church on behalf of the earl. He is found guilty, is bailed in 1000 marks by thirteen persons and at last fined (but the amount of the fine is lost) (copy, in the reign of Ed. III).

Grant. Evesham, Benedictine abbey. Monday next after the feast of All Saints, 5 Rich. II (1381). . Indenture made between the abbot of Evesham of the one part, and Nicholas de Stafford of the other, being a grant of the wardship of Hugh, son of Hugh de Wrottesleye and Isabella his wife, until full age, for the lands etc. held of the abbey in Wrottesleye. Pipe roll, extract. Lawford Hall (Essex) (manor). 38 Hen. VI (1460). . Extract from the great roll of the pipe, co. Essex, 38 Hen. VI, concerning the issues and profits of the manor of Lalleford, which had been granted by the king, 10 October, 26 Hen. VI, to John Say, usher of the king's chamber, deceased.

Lease. Pershore (Priory of). Feast of St. Michael, 17 Henry VII (1501). . Indenture made between Dan William Aldermerston, prior of Pershour, and John Chalnour, of the same town, by which the prior lets the ferm place of Allesberough with all appurtenances for 13 years, paying annually ij wey of wheat, vij wey of barley, well winnowed, 12 geese, 12 capons, with other conditions and a payment of 6s. 8d. yearly for all waifs and strays enumerating also certain stock and utensils delivered to the said John for his term (English).

Grant. Stonely, priory of Austin canons. Grant from William de Mandevill, earl of Essex, to James de Calceto [of the causeway, Causey], for his homage and service from his lordship of Kynebauton, in exchange for his land of Bolinton and Brokeburn, which he quit-claimed to the said earl, the land called Werkewelle, with other lands, etc., in Stow and Neuton. Added at the foot of this deed are copies of two other documents in French showing how Werkewelle came from James de Calceto into the possession of the prior of Stonlee (both documents are copies made in the 15th century).

Fine. Tidmington (Worcestershire) (manor). Quindene of St. Michael, 8 Ed. II (1314). . Fine made at Westminster, between Simon de Crombe and Joan his wife, plaintiffs, by Henry de Wenlond, their attorney, and Thomas le Botiller, defendant, concerning the manor of Tidilmynton with appurtenances, and one messuage, one carucate of land, and 10 marks of annual rent in Admundescote; by which the property is re-conveyed to the said Simon and Joan and their heirs.

Grant. Coulton (Yorkshire, North Riding) (manor), South Holme (Yorkshire, North Riding) (manor). Thursday next before Palm Sunday, 17 Rich. II. (1394). . Two deeds by which Brian Stapilton, Thomas Colvill, David de . . . if, John de Pykeryng, William de Sproxton, and Robert de . . . grant their manors of Caul[ton?] and Southolme in Ridale to Alice de Kirkeby, which manors they had by feoffment of Thomas de Etton of Gilling.
