Adam, son of Robert de Wyrenthorp , grants to Robert, son of John de Wakefeld , all and singular the messuages, tofts, crofts, lands, tenements, &c. which he has within the bounds of Stanlay, and one tenement in Wakefeld, and 3s. of yearly rent from the shop in le Fleschbothes of Wakefeld, and the half of his meadows in Neutown Enges. Dated at Wakefeld the Friday next after the feast of the Purification, 1343.

WENTWORTH. Administration granted by Henry, archbishop of York , to John del Wod and John Musutesdere of the goods &c. of William Wyntworth of Wyntworth , deceased, who died intestate. Dated at Cawod, 3 August, 1413.

TANFIELD (West). Licence from Nicholas, bishop of Chester , to Henry Lodge, deacon, to perform the office of curate in the parish church of West Tanfield, York. Dated 16 June, 1701.

WIKHAM, Roston &c. Juliana Galiz of Roston quit-claims to John de Aton one acre and a half of meadow near Derewente, and ½ acre of arable land on the east of Wikham, and ½ acre in Soldale, for a sum of money. (c. 1240-50.)

Ralph Bucel quit-claims and confirms to Gilbert de Aton for three marks and at annual rent of 2s. two bovates of land in the territory of Wicham and Rostun, which the said Ralph had claimed in the King's Court, and which Robert son of Roger Galice and Juliana daughter of Gervase Galice hold of him. (c. 1200-10.) .

William, lord of Aton , grants to John Scote (?Stote) of Wycham a certain toft in Wycham, and also half an acre of land in Blaeholm and 5 rood in the same village for his life at an annual rent of 11s. (c. 1260-70.)

William de Hatterberg, abiding in Wycham , grants to sir William de Aton and his heirs 12d. of annual rents which he was accustomed to pay to him for a part of land in Wycham. (c. 1270-80.)

WILBESAYE. William, son of Jordan de Vilbesaye , grants to William de Svinelington and his heirs the whole of his land in the village of Vilbesaye,viz. two bovates of land. (c. 1250-60.) .

SWINTON. John, son of Richard Barbot , grants to Reyner, son of William de Wambuelle , for 5s., one bovate of land in the village of Swinton, which his said father Richard had in marriage with his mother Syhariz ; paying annually 4d. (c. 1230-40.) .

WOMBWELL. Roger, son of Robert le Sadelar of Wambwell , grants to Matilda his sister, for her life, a toft and a croft and 5½ roods of land, (which he has by her gift) paying annually 12d., and promises to provide lodging for their sister Alice during her life should she survive Matilde. Dated at Wambwell on the feast of St. John ante Port. Lat., 1324.

WRESSLE. Deed of sale by John Hobart, of Eaton, Norfolk, knt. and Robert Hobart, his brother, to Nicholas Hooker, citizen and goldsmith of London and William his brother for £400, of the rectory of Wresile with messuages and lands in Lofthosom; 5 March 3 James I.

YORK. William, son of Reynor Sporri of York , confirms to John de Housom, citizen and merchant of York , one plot of land in Hertergate street in the city of York for ever, at an annual rent of 5s. Dated at York the Wednesday on the feast of the apostles SS. Philip and James, 1325 - 18 Ed. II. Witn. Nicholas de Lengoton, mayor of York , Andrew de Bossale and Thomas de Gilham, bailiffs.

Nicholas de Appelby, citizen of York , remits and quit-claims to Richard de Brakenthuait and Agnes his wife all right in a certain messuage in Boutham. Dated at York, 20 Nov., 1336. Witn. Henry de Belton, mayor of York .

Final concord made at Westminster on the octave of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin, 50 Edw. III, between John de Berden of York John Brathwayt of the same, and William de Brumpton, chaplain, plaintiffs, and John de Westiby of York, butcher, and Alice his wife, defendants, concerning the half of a messuage in York held by William de Wygan and Margery his wife, for the life of the said Margery and which is now acknowledged to be the right of the said John de Berden for which he now pays 10 marks.

A certificate by Thomas ⟨Arundel⟩ , archbp. of York , that it is found in the register of John de Thoresby his predecessor, that Thomas de Saltmersse, acolyte, the Saturday on the vigil of St. Matthew, apostle, 1371, in the parish church of St. Mary, the old York, was ordained sub-deacon, on the vigil of St. Thomas ap. in the same year deacon and the Saturday in the first week of Lent, same year and place, was ordained presbyter by the venerable Richard, "servien. ep." then suffragan, on the title of the house of the nuns of Nunapilton. Dated at York, 12 June, 1392.

BRAMLEY and HEDINGLEY. Letters patent of Queen Elizabeth , dated at Westminster, 1 April, 34 of her reign, granting to John Savile and Thomas Hynchclyffe for 13s. 4d. a licence of alienation of 23 acres of certain lands in Bramley and Hedingley to Robert Walshe and Robert Crowther . [Mutilated.]

BRAMLEY. Letters patent of King James I, dated at Westminster, 1 April, 21 of his reign, granting for 10s. to Henry Musgrave and Margaret Askwith, widow, a licence of alienation of certain messuages and lands lying in Bramley, to James Sale, sen., James Sale, jun., Agnes Lister, widow, and John Lister her son.

HOLDEN. Letters patent of Queen Elizabeth , dated at Westminster 22 May, 27th year of her reign, granting to John Gate of Holden the manor house of Holden, with houses and lands in Howden &c., for the term of years unexpired of a lease made by Richard, bp. of Durham , 13 July last, to the crown of the said premises for 90 years, paying annually £34 0s. 8d.

ALBERSTON. Sir Ed. Hastyngs, kt., lord de Hastyngs, (after reciting the grant of William, lord de Hastyngs, his father, for the foundation of a chantry within St. George's, Windsor, of an annual rent charge of £20, which is only valued at £18 5s.), grants to Geoffrey Symeon, the dean, and the canons of St. George's, Windsor, a rent-charge of 35s. on his manor of Alberston, Yorkshire, to complete the said sum of £20 granted by his father. Dated 15 December, 20 Hen. VII. (See MS. Ch. Yorks. 274).

Jordan, son of John de la Pomeraye , grants to John, son of Nicholas de Osgoteby , and his heirs, a certain assart in Osgoteby which is called 'Arenbrandridding', which the said Nicholas formerly held of Jordan's father, John; also he grants to the said John 12 pence rents, to hold of the prior and convent of Drax by the service of one rose annually, at the great altar of B.
