⟨ Halifax.⟩ Elisabeth de Halifax, called the daughter of the chaplain, grants to Elisabeth her daughter the whole of her land in the territory of Southaure. Dated at Halifax the Wednesday next after Palm Sunday, 1337.

⟨ Halifax.⟩ Richard, the clerk of Halifax , grants and quit-claims to William de Eland, chaplain, for a sum of money, two acres of land in Suthuverum which lie in Stonirode, which the said Richard held of John de Lasey of Crumbwelbothim ; paying yearly to the said John 8d. (c. 1270-80.)

⟨ Halifax.⟩ William de Eland, chaplain, confirms to Amabilla, daughter of William the tailor of Halifax and her children ("pueris suis"), viz. his foster-children ("alumpnis meis"), the whole of that land which he holds in Suthuverum at Stonirode and Lifkarpihelis, with the new land held of John de Eland and the assart called Hunarrode; paying yearly to John de Eland 2s. and to the heirs of John the Clerk of Crumbwelbothim 9d. and to the heirs of John de Lasci 8d. Witness. Ingelard, then vicar of Halifax . (c. 1270-80.)

John, son of John Clerk of Crumwelboym , grants to Richard the clerk of Halifax for a sum of money the whole of his land in the territory of Huverum, which Thomas de Mora of Halifax used to hold of John the Clerk , viz. that land which lies near the way called Morgate on the north and the water called Halifaxbroych on the west; paying annually 9d. (c. 1260.)

LEEDS and GRETLAND. Certificate dated 6 Feb. of a fine dated at Westminster on the morrow of the Purification of the B.V. M., 13 Charles II, between John Houldsworth, gent., William Milner, gent., Edmund Hinde , John Ellistones , and Jeremiah Ellistones , petitioners, and John Rolston and Frances his wife, Grace Deane, widow, Robert Gamble , John Dransfield and Jane his wife, defendants, concerning messuages, barns, and land in Leeds and Greetland, for which the former give £100.

OVENBEN. Alice, formerly wife of Hugh de Fossat , quit-claims to William de Metheley for a sum of money, all her right in the village and territory of Ovendene, in the lands which she had by the gift of Elizabet her mother and Margery her aunt. (c. 1270-80.) .

Writ addressed to Edmund Hastynges, sheriff of Yorkshire , to the effect that Thomas Metheley had recovered in the king's court at Westminster, by default against John Maude of Warneley , a messuage and land in Ovenden. Dated at Westminster, 6 Nov., 11 Hen. IV. Seisin given by the sheriff the Friday after St. Hilary, 11 Hen. IV.

SOWTHOWROME. Thomas Lacy of Crumwelbothome, esq., grants to Richard Mylner of Halyfaxe with the consecut of ale his free tenants in his common of Sydale two parcels of land in the said common of Sydale, parcel of his demesne of Sowthowrome. Dated at Sowthowrome, 26 July, 22 Ed. IV.
