HOTON RUFS. Alice, relict of Adam de Melling , widow, grants to Sir John de Hodeleston one acre of land in Hoton Rufs, Westmorland, between le Holde Milline and le Milline More, together with the advowson of the hospital of St. Leonard of Teneleshend in the same place. (c. 1280-90.) .

NATEBY. Charters (inrolled) of grants of lands, woods, &c. in the village of Nateby. [Roll written temp. Hen. VI or Edw. VI.]

(a) William, son of Elyas de Nateby , grants to sir Michael de Hartla all his lands and tenements in the village and field of Nateby, with all the appurtenances.

(b) Roger de Clifford, jun., Isabel his wife, Roger de Leyburn and Idonea his wife, grant to sir Michael de Hartla a certain vaccary in their forest of Mallyestang which is called Snetwayt, at an annual rent of 6d.

(c) Idonia de Leyburne , widow grants to Michael, lord of Hartecla , a licence to enable him to inclose the woods of Hartecla and Nateby with a hedge or ditch, and to hunt therein, which she has by heirship from her father Robert de Vipount , who was also the father of Isabella wife of Roger de Clyfford .

(d) Part of a grant from King Edward to Thomas Rukby "le unncle" of all the lands and tenements which were Andrew de Hertcla 's in the vills of Nateby and Wherton.

(e) Thomas de Rokeby "l'uncle" grants to Richard Roter, vicar of Briniston , all his lands, &c. in the vills of Nateby and Querton, with the third part of the demesne there, also all his lands, &c. in Slegill. Dated at Briniston on the feast of St. Michael, 30 Ed. III.

(f) Thomas de Musgrave grants to sir Michael de Hartcla the homage and service of Thomas, son of John Snodding , for all the lands, &c. he held in Nateby.

(g) Richard Router, master of the hospital of Kepier , grants to sir Thomas de Mussgrave, kt., all the lands, &c. which he has in the villages of Querton and Nateby by the gift of sir Thomas de Rukeby, kt., sen. Dated at London, Wednesday on the feast of St. Leonard, 1364.
