Indenture made 20 November, 38 Hen. VIII (1546), by which John Suthwell of Darsham (Darham in the co. of Suffolk), esq., sells to Robert Crane of Chilton (Chilton in the co. of Suffolk), for £392 9s. 10d., his lands, messuages, &c. in the parishes of Coddenham (Codenham), Creeting St Mary (Creeting St. Mary), Creeting All Saints, Creeting St Olave (Creeting St. Olave), Crowfield (Crowfeld), Gosbeck (Gosbach) and Hemingstone (Edmyngston).

Indenture made 26 Sept., 26 Hen. VIII (1534), by which Edward and John Crane demise to Jone Benight of Mickfield, widow and her eldest son William, certain parcels of land in Mickfield, for 20 years, paying annually for the same 33s. 4d. [Mutilated.]

STONHAM EARL, CREETING ST. MARY, and CREETING ST. OLAVE. Indenture made 28 Jan., 21 Hen. VII (1506), by which Charles Knevett, esq. of Little Stonham (Stonham Gernegan) lets to farm to Philip Gyssyng of Earl Stonham (Stonham County), two tenements in Earl Stonham (Stonham Cunti) and Creeting St Olave (Creeting St. Olave), called Thornys and Brydnellys, and a close lying in Earl Stonham (Stonham Cuntti) and Creeting St Mary (Creting St. Mary) called Norwey; for 30 years, paying annually 20s.

Indenture made at Somerleyton (Somerleton), 8 Sept., 1485, between John Jernegan, esq., of the one part, and Giles Brewys, gentleman, of the other, witnesseth that the said Giles has granted to the said John one tenement in Ashby (Askeby) called 'Bukmongrs' and 32 acres of land for one year, at a rent of 33s. 4d.

Indenture made at Somerleyton on St. Mary Magdalen's day, 1 Hen. VII, witnessing that for the consideration of 40 marks paid by John Jernegan, esq., to Gyles Brews, gent., he the said Giles will convey a tenement and 32 acres of land in Ashby (Askeby). (See MS. Ch. Suffolk 1130.)

Draft of an indenture (mutilated) dated 25 Feb., .. (2 or 3 Hen. VIII), by which dame Elinor Jenney of Theberton demises to Peter Nabbys her manor of Ashby (Askeby) for vij years, from Mich(elmas) 2 Henry VIII next coming at an annual rent of vi marks.

Indenture dated 4 Oct., 33 Elizabeth (1591), by which John Wentworth of Somerleyton, gent., demises to Thomazen Cowper of Ashby (Asheby) his fish-house in Ashby and his two ponds on the east part of the said house, and also a certain whorde called the old whorde belonging to the manor of Ashby, and the waters in Ashby (Asheby), Herringfleet (Heringflete), and Lound, for 10 years, for specified large quantities of fish, or else at an annual rent of 46s. 8d.

Bond in £160 from Thomas Moore of Ashby (Askeby), husbandman, to John Wentworth of Somerleyton for securing the sale of a tenement and certain lands in Ashby (Askeby). Dated 6 October, 38 Elizabeth (1596).

Richard Gleynesford of Sutton and Margaret his wife lease to Robert .... of Blundeston all those lands &c., which sometime were William Symson's, in Blundeston, for 4 years. Dated Michaelmas, 20 Hen. VI (29 Sept. 1441).

Indenture dated 18 May, 6 Hen. VII (1491), by which (in consideration of a marriage between John Durhaunte , gent., and Elyne, sister of John Bryghtyeve) Dame Anne Wingefeld, widow, late wife of sir Robert Wingefeld, kt., covenants to make to John Durhaunte a good estate in the manor of Blundeston, and John Bryghtyeve covenants to pay to the said John and Elyne 24 marcs.

Indenture dated 18 July, 28 Hen. VIII (1536), by which John Jernegan of Somerleyton, kt., for £50 sterling, buys of John Jettour of Lowestoft (Leystoft) certain lands &c. in the parish of Blundeston.

An arbitration and award in a dispute between Humphrey Yermouth, gent., and certain of the parishioners of Blundeston, as to the right to a certain marsh, water, and way. Dated 26 June, 30 Hen. VIII (1538).

Indenture dated 4 December, 1 Ed. VI (1547), by which John Jetter of Lowestoft (Leystoft) bargains and sells to John Jernegan of Somerleyton, kt., two closes in the fields of Blundeston.

Indenture made 6 May, 11 K. Henry VIII (1519), by which sir William Skevyn, prest, and executor of the will of John Stonham late of Gorleston-on-Sea (Gorleston), sells to Henry Smyth of Bradwell certain messuages, land, &c. in Bradwell for a sum of £26 13s. 4d.

Thomas Caundyssh of Trimley St Martin (Trymley St. Martin) appoints John Elles and John Mellyn his attorneys to take seisin for him of certain lands in Gapton, Bradwell, &c, now in the tenure of William Roberds, esq. Dated 13 May, 31 Elizabeth (1589).

Indenture dated 4 April, 18 Hen. VIII (1527), by which Agnes, late wife of Robert Stares of Blundeston , and William Wrentham, executors of the will of the said Robert Stares, sell to John Harvy of Oulton, gent. a close of ten acres called Doles Lombys and a piece of copyhold in Flixton St Andrew (Flixton), co. Suff. for £10.

Indenture dated 6 April 22(?) Queen Elizabeth, by which John Jernegan of Somerleyton demises to John Warde one marsh in the village of Flixton St Andrew (Flixton) for 800 years at an annual rent of 6s. 8d.

Indenture made 25 March, 8 James I (1610), by which Clement Bacon, parson of Flixton St Andrew (Flixton), leases to John Symonds of St. Stephen's, Norwich his rectory &c. of Flixton St Andrew (Flixton) for 21 years at an annual rent of l0s.

Edward Elles of Blundeston and Umfrey Croswell of the same place quit-claim to sir John Wentworth of Somerleyton (Somerleton), knt. all their right and claim to commonage in Flixton St Andrew (Flixton Fermside) adjoining to the great common water in Blundeston. Dated 23 December, 5 Chas. I, 1629.

Indenture made 29 June, 5 Charles I (1629), by which Anthony Wilkenson of Burnham Market (Burnam Westgate, co. Norfolk), clerck, demises to Sir John Wentworth the free chapel or rectory of Flixton St Andrew (Flixton) for 40 years, at an annual rent of one peppercorn if demanded.

Indenture dated 1 June, 29 Elizabeth (1587), by which John Kemp of Antingham (Antyngham, Norfolk), leases to William Sydnor of Blundeston the waters and fishing of the manor of Caldecott Hall (Calcott) within the parish of Fritton for ... years, paying annually for the same a certain quantity of eels and roach.

Indenture made [9?] March, 21 Hen. VII, by which sir Robt. Drury, knight, and Edward Jernegan, esq., purchase of Henry Reppes, the father, and Henry Reppes his son, all their lands, tenements, rents, and services in Herringfleet (Heryngflet), Ashby (Askeby alias Asheby), and Somerleyton (Somerleton).

Indenture dated 18 December, 36 Hen. VIII (1544), by which the dean and chapter of Norwich demise to John Jernegan their manor, church, and parsonage of Hopton, paying annually for the same £6, for a term of ten years.

Indenture, dated 20 March, 21 Elizabeth (1579), by which John Jernegan of Somerleyton, esq., demises to William Roberdes of Swanton Abbot (Swynston, Norfolk), gent., all his right and interest for the remaining term of years in the manor and rectory of Hopton, in consideration of a payment of £100. Contains a clause of redemption on payment of the said sum of £100, &c.

Indenture witnessing that Thomas Owden of Somerleyton (Somerleton) demises to John Bayly of Gorleston-on-Sea (Gorleston) and others, certain lands, rents, and appurtenances in Lound, Ashby (Asskeby), Somerleyton (Somerleton), and Blundeston, for a certain term of years. Dated 10 December, 12 Edward IV (1472).
