Oxford, St. Clement’s Abbess and Convent of Godstow and the Prior and Convent of St. Frideswide. Agreement for exchange of lands. ⟨1358, May 10⟩

Oxford.. Christina Pille, widow, grants to Robert de Brackele and Agnes his wife (the grantor’s daughter) for their service, a messuage and 6 cottages with two butts and two acres of arable land. The messuage lies between the prior of St. F⟨rideswide⟩ ’s land and the land late of Robert le Chapeler , in St. Peter’s-in-the-East, without the East Gate. The cottages and butts are in St. Clements’ beyond the Petit Pont, between the land of Walter le teler and that of Henry le tannur . One acre of land lies between the preceptor of Couele’s land and that of the Abbot of Oseney. The other acre, called Havedlond, lies between the prior of St. F.’s land and the bank called Charewelle. Rent: 30/- during the grantor’s life, or else a house for her to live in, worth 30/- (yearly): after her death a clove gillyflower to her heirs, at Easter.
