Totham [Essex]. Bartholomew the cook, of Totham , grants to Ivo fitz-Gilbert for his homage and service, (i) that croft in T⟨otham⟩ called ’Tuong’ [or Twonge’ in M. 53.] which lies between the road and Symon son of Anselm ’s land; (ii) one acre of land in the field called Pirifield, lying along the road, shut in by a ditch. Rent: 6d., also the service due to the King, and for scutage 1½d. For this grant Ivo gave 5/-. Witnesses: Bartholomew de la more , Roger de Vneseia , Roger the palmer , Henry the clerk , Gilbert fitz-Thomas , Nigel de Sireburne , John Ballard , Walter fitz-Gilbert , Richard the clerk of Totham . ⟨c. 1230–40.⟩
