St. Leonard’s, Wallingford.. Stephen de Stallis grants to the Hospital of St. John, W⟨allingford⟩ , in free alms, a corner messuage in the parish of St. Leonard’s, by the messuage formerly of Henry of Medford , opposite the messuage of Bartholomew Fryburne within the South Gate of W⟨allingford⟩ . Rent: 12d. to the fee farm of W⟨allingford⟩, and a clove gilly flower to the grantor. Witnesses: Alexander de Stallis, mayor, Richard of Britwalton , master Peter of Benham , William Blawe , Eustace Clem[ent] , John Hynner , Richard Mariot , bailiffs. ⟨c. 1230–c. 1240.⟩ The whole is excellently preserved. Indenture witnessing that, although Walter Cirpsse of Wallingford has infeoffed William Cornwaille of the same place with one acre of meadow with appurtenances in Clopcote, lying in a common meadow called 'le Northmede,' as appears in a certain charter then made and deposited by consent of the parties in the hands of Thomas Sturbourn , by which he has received full seisin, nevertheless the same William is willing and grants for himself and his heirs, that if the said Walter and his heirs pay to him or his attorney in Wallingford 4 marks, then the said charter of feoffment to be void. Dated at Clopcote the Monday next after the feast of St. Agatha the virgin, 18 Ed. III.

Clapcote. Walter Cirpsse of W⟨allingford⟩ grants to John ate Russche of the same ½ acre of arable land in C⟨lapcote⟩ , in Algareforlang, between Edmund de Bereford ’s land on the east and that of Alice Kenelm on the west, reaching from south to north over William de Cornwaille ’s land called Inlond. Witnesses: John Maryot , Robert Butty , Thomas Alayn , William Wrouch , Thomas Oturbourne . Given at C⟨lapcote⟩ . ⟨14 Jan. 1344.⟩

Clapcote. Robert de Croxford and Geoffrey Cheyndut , chaplains, grant to John atte Rysshe of W⟨allingford⟩ and Alice his wife 4 acres of arable land called la Goore, in C⟨lapcote⟩ , of which one acre is forera, between the prior’s land on the east and the land wh. J. and A. his wife have of the gift of R. de C. and G. C., and 3 acres lie together from the said forera to the cross on the way from W⟨allingford⟩ to Abingdon. Holy Trinity, Wallingford. William Curteys of Wallingeforde quit-claims to Thomas de Berewyke and Isabella his wife his right in a piece of land reaching in length from the piece which they had of the gift of Joan Curteys his mother in Curteyselane, to the curtilage of the said Joan on the west—7½ feet; and in width from the curtilage of the said Joan on the south to the tenement of Thomas de Horspathe on the north—20 feet, in the parish of Holy Trinity, Wallingford. Witnesses: John Mariot, mayor of W⟨allingford⟩ , Richard de Touches , Simon of Heyworth , and Roger Badecok , aldermen, Thomas Bone , John de Touches , and Robert Boneface . St. Peter’s, Wallingford. Robert Freman de Cestria, burgess of Wallingford , grants to Henry le Bacheler of Basyng’ and Agnes his wife, for 20/- the messuage which he had of the gift of Stephen de Stallis , lying between the messuage of William de Stallis, chaplain, and that of Ernald Boneface , in the parish of St. Peter’s, Wallingford, 22 feet in width: in length it stretches from the highroad to the outer barbican of the castle ditch. Rent: (i) to the sacristan of Holy Trinity, Wallingford, 3/1, and (ii) to the fee farm of the borough 2/-, and (iii) to the heirs of Stephen de Stallis a pound of cummin.
