Stephen de Stallis grants to the Hospital of St. John, W⟨allingford⟩ , in free alms, a corner messuage in the parish of St. Leonard’s, by the messuage formerly of Henry of Medford , opposite the messuage of Bartholomew Fryburne within the South Gate of W⟨allingford⟩ . Rent: 12d. to the fee farm of W⟨allingford⟩, and a clove gilly flower to the grantor. Witnesses: Alexander de Stallis, mayor, Richard of Britwalton , master Peter of Benham , William Blawe , Eustace Clem[ent] , John Hynner , Richard Mariot , bailiffs. ⟨c. 1230–c. 1240.⟩ The whole is excellently preserved. Richard le ⟨Wyth⟩ebolter with the assent of Lynina his wife, grants to Robert of Cuxham and Norgana his wife, for 4 marks of silver, a messuage and curtilage between the messuage of Simon Molle and that of Peter Henthelon ’ in St. Leonard’s, W⟨allingford⟩ . Rent: ½d. to the Hospital of St. John, 1d. to Eustace Clement and his heirs, 2/- to the priory of W⟨allingford⟩ . Witnesses: Nicholas the goldsmith, mayor, Richard of Brytwaltone , Eustace son of Clement , William de Wyck , William Alan , John de Basinges , Walter Scympeyn , reeves, John Hyne , John de Luchiis, then clerk, ’et aliis cum toto burgemot’. ⟨c. 1270–c. 1280.⟩
