Beamsley. 1593.

Award by Dr Hugh Weston, Dr William Cliff, and Mr William Grinestede, in arbitration between the dean and chapter of Christ Church, Oxford, and John Thorneton, vicar of Leeds, concerning £10 annual pension from the church of Leeds, parcel of the possessions of the dissolved priory of Holy Trinity, York, granted by Henry VIII to Christ Church on 11 Dec. 1546. John to pay the pension from henceforth with arrears of £16. Dated 24 Nov. 1 Mary [1553].

The book was made as a ‘Boke of Requests’, and shows that Ch. Ch. were claiming about £70 from these properties.

Robert Ughtred, kt., son and heir of the late Henry Ughtred, kt., quit-claims to Thomas Wolsey , Cuthbert bishop of London , John, bishop of Lincoln , John, bishop of Bath and Wells , William Gascoyn of Cardington, kt., Robert Carter, clerk, Robert Toncie(?), clerk, William Holgill, clerk, William Frankelyn, clerk, Thomas Henngye Esq., and John Sayntclere, Esq., his right in the manor of Keyby (Yorks.), 10 messuages, 10 tofts, 1000 acres of land, 200 acres of meadow, 2000 acres of pasture, 1000 acres of wood, 2000 acres of moorland, 2000 acres of marsh, and 100/- rent in K⟨irby⟩ , Upper Catton, Nether Catton, Croxeby, Stannford Brigge and Suthemmesley, and free fishing in the water of Darwent. 15 June 1524.

Indenture by which Sir Robert Ughtred, kt., sells to Symonde Webbe, of London, gent., William Chaloner of London, gent., for money already paid, his manors of Lepyngton and Barthorpe, with the ‘Armes belonging to the same called the armes of Lepyngton’, with rents, &c., advowsons in L⟨eppington⟩ , B⟨arthorp⟩ , and Northdalton. 5 July 1524.

SHAW. Copy of a roll in the custody of the remembrancer of the Exchequer, 41 Ed. III, being a survey in pursuance of a writ to William de Wukeham and others, dated at Weston, 10 Oct. an. xxxv of all the demesne lands and tenements in Shawe, which the King had by the gift and feoffment of Master William de Polmorna . SKYRAKE, (Wapentake of). Subsidy roll, dated 12th February, 37 Hen. VIII, between sir William Vavesoure, knt., John Gascoyne and William Skrymsher, esqs. the commissioners, and Henry Arthyns esq., the high collector for the wapentake of Skyrak, being the first subsidy granted by act of Parliament in the 37th of his reign. (4 membranes.) .
