Mutilated indenture, dated 5 July, 16 Hen. VIII, between sir Robert Ughtred, kt., of the one part, and Symon Webb of London , and William Challoner , of the other, witnesseth that the said sir Robert has sold to the said Symon and William his manors of Lepington and Barthorpe. [See also ⟨MS. Ch. Yorks.⟩ 189a.] .

Simon Webbe and William Chaloner grant to sir Henry Wyatt, kt., John Zowche of Codnours, knight, and others the manors of Lepyngton and Barthorp. Dated 20 July, 16 Hen. VIII.

Thomas Wyott , George Zowche , and William Webbe remit and quit-claim to Henry Wyott and John Zouche, kts., all right in the manors of Lepyngton and Barthorpe, and in lands &c. in Lepyngton, Barthorpe, and North Dalton. Dated 1 July, 18 Hen. VIII.

MUSTON. Institution of Sir John Somerby to the vicarage of the chapel of Muston in the parish of Hundemanby, York diocese, on the presentation of the abbot and convent of Bardeney, Linc. dioc. vacant ny the deprivation of John Flotmanby . Dated at York, 27 May, 1508.

FARMANDBY, ESTHALGARTH, THORNETON, ELLERBURNE, PYKERING, and THURKYLBY. Indenture made 15 December, 20 Henry VII, between sir Edward Hastyngs, kt., lord des Hastings and Hungerford, son and heir of sir William Hastyngs, kt., late lord de Hastyngs , deceased, sir Thomas Frowyk, kt., chief justice, and Thomas Jakes , of the one part, and Geoffrey Symeon, dean of St. George's, Windsor , and the canons of the same, of the other part, reciting the foundation of a chantry by the said William lord Hastyngs for the souls of himself and Katherine his wife and others in the chapel of St. George's, Windsor, and endowing the same with lands of the annual value of £20. but because the specified land do not amount to £20 per annum in Hil. term 17 Henry VII, but only to £18 6., the said Edward now gives an annual rent charge of 35s. from his manor of Alberston Yorkshire, for the said purposes; and Frowyk and Jakes appoint John Hastyngs, gent., and Ralph Crawcetone their attorneys to give him seisin. HOLDEN. Letters patent of Queen Elizabeth , dated at Westminster 22 May, 27th year of her reign, granting to John Gate of Holden the manor house of Holden, with houses and lands in Howden &c., for the term of years unexpired of a lease made by Richard, bp. of Durham , 13 July last, to the crown of the said premises for 90 years, paying annually £34 0s. 8d.

YOKEFLETE, BROMPTON, WESTOWE, and RILLYNGTON. Letters patent of Q. Elizabeth, dated at Gorambury, 20 Jan., 15 of her reign, reciting a grant to sir John Foster, kt., of certain lands and tenements in Little Broughton in co. York, bearing date 12 April, 10 of her reign, for 40 years, parcel of the lands of the monastery of Hexhame, and by these granting to William lord Ewre (in exchange for the manor of Yokeflete and all that belongs to it in the parishes or hamlets of Yokeflete, Brompton, Westowe, and Rillyngton,) the reversion of the above grant, also a received annual rent of £12 18s. 3½d., also the rectory of Inglebie, co. York, and the chapel and church of Newton with all that belongs to them, late part of the priory of Whitby, with many other properties, to hold the same for ever.

The book was made as a ‘Boke of Requests’, and shows that Ch. Ch. were claiming about £70 from these properties.

Robert Ughtred, kt., son and heir of the late Henry Ughtred, kt., quit-claims to Thomas Wolsey , Cuthbert bishop of London , John, bishop of Lincoln , John, bishop of Bath and Wells , William Gascoyn of Cardington, kt., Robert Carter, clerk, Robert Toncie(?), clerk, William Holgill, clerk, William Frankelyn, clerk, Thomas Henngye Esq., and John Sayntclere, Esq., his right in the manor of Keyby (Yorks.), 10 messuages, 10 tofts, 1000 acres of land, 200 acres of meadow, 2000 acres of pasture, 1000 acres of wood, 2000 acres of moorland, 2000 acres of marsh, and 100/- rent in K⟨irby⟩ , Upper Catton, Nether Catton, Croxeby, Stannford Brigge and Suthemmesley, and free fishing in the water of Darwent. 15 June 1524.

Indenture by which Sir Robert Ughtred, kt., sells to Symonde Webbe, of London, gent., William Chaloner of London, gent., for money already paid, his manors of Lepyngton and Barthorpe, with the ‘Armes belonging to the same called the armes of Lepyngton’, with rents, &c., advowsons in L⟨eppington⟩ , B⟨arthorp⟩ , and Northdalton. 5 July 1524.
