Will of Katherine Ofhoo of Bury St Edmunds (Bury St. Edmund), widow, made 12 January, 1483, bequething the greater part of her property to her daughter Agnes Polstade. Probate dated last day of February, 1493.

Statement by an abbot respecting the original appointment and duties of the steward of the franchises and liberties of the abbot of Bury St. Edmund, with complaint of neglect and of wrongs suffered thereby, (one word illegible) bailiff and sub-bailiff almost beaten to death at Sudbury, others taken from Chevington and imprisoned at Bury St Edmunds (Bury), etc. [Temp. Hen. VI.]

Indenture made 23 March, 7 Hen. VII (1492), witnesseth that Robert Crane hath delivered to Thomas, the abbot of Bury St. Edmund, collector of the benevolence granted to the king in the shire of Suffolk towards his voyage royal into France, £212 16s. 4d. collected within the hundred of Babergh Hundred (Babergh).

Indenture made 2 December, 26 Hen. VI (1447), between Walter Caleys of Glemsford of the one part, and Robert Snowe of Bishop's Stortford (Storteford) of the other part, witnesseth that whereas the said Walter is bound in a sum of 200 marks by a bond dated as above to Thomas Bawd, squier, and others, payable at Whitsuntide next, upon condition that he shall sue Robard Trygge for all the lands in Glemsford, Long Melford (Milford), Stanstead (Stansted), Boxted (Bokstede), and Cavendish (Cavendyssh), which the said Walter late made an estate of trust to the said Robard, and that the said lands shall remain to Walter and his heirs, and in default to Robert Snow and Elizabeth his wife and the heirs of the said Elizabeth. In default bond to stand good.

Indenture by which Thomas Asshford, citizen and woodmonger of London, lets to farm to Robert Crane of Great Waldingfield (Great Waldingfeld) certain pastures, services, &c. in Great Waldingfield (Moche Waldingfeld), Chilton, and Acton. Dated 4 June, 22 Ed. IV (1482).

John Herte, the elder, of Waldringfield (Waldryngfeld) sells to William Lambe all the house and lands and cattle which the said John holdeth in Waldringfield (Waldryngfeld); for provision of meat, drink and clothing for him and his wife for thier lives and remission of a debt of 20s. [Temp. Hen. VII.]

Indenture made at Somerleyton (Somerleton), 8 Sept., 1485, between John Jernegan, esq., of the one part, and Giles Brewys, gentleman, of the other, witnesseth that the said Giles has granted to the said John one tenement in Ashby (Askeby) called 'Bukmongrs' and 32 acres of land for one year, at a rent of 33s. 4d.

Indenture made at Somerleyton on St. Mary Magdalen's day, 1 Hen. VII, witnessing that for the consideration of 40 marks paid by John Jernegan, esq., to Gyles Brews, gent., he the said Giles will convey a tenement and 32 acres of land in Ashby (Askeby). (See MS. Ch. Suffolk 1130.)

Richard Gleynesford of Sutton and Margaret his wife lease to Robert .... of Blundeston all those lands &c., which sometime were William Symson's, in Blundeston, for 4 years. Dated Michaelmas, 20 Hen. VI (29 Sept. 1441).

Indenture dated 18 May, 6 Hen. VII (1491), by which (in consideration of a marriage between John Durhaunte , gent., and Elyne, sister of John Bryghtyeve) Dame Anne Wingefeld, widow, late wife of sir Robert Wingefeld, kt., covenants to make to John Durhaunte a good estate in the manor of Blundeston, and John Bryghtyeve covenants to pay to the said John and Elyne 24 marcs.

Indenture witnessing that Thomas Owden of Somerleyton (Somerleton) demises to John Bayly of Gorleston-on-Sea (Gorleston) and others, certain lands, rents, and appurtenances in Lound, Ashby (Asskeby), Somerleyton (Somerleton), and Blundeston, for a certain term of years. Dated 10 December, 12 Edward IV (1472).

⟨Lowestoft⟩ Indenture dated 14 Nov., 12 Hen. VII (1496), by which John Cowper, carter, of Lowestoft, sells to William Cowper his son, for a payment of £22, "hys place as it [is] sette in the Southende".

Deed specifying the conditions of a charter of enfeoffment, dated ... June [18?] Ed. IV, of the manor of Somerleyton (Somerleton) and the church of Bradwell, &c. granted by John [Jernegan] to Thomas Bryan, knt. and others on the occasion of his being about to pass with the king into France, mentions his wife Isabel. [Partly effaced.] [It was in 1475 that Edw. IV made his French expedition.]

The will of Richard Hawkyn, otherwise Crystmas, of Somerleyton (Somerletown), dated [30?] Jan. 1490. [A large part effaced.]

Indenture made at Somerleyton (Somerleton), 8 September, 1485, between John Jernegan, esq., of the one part, and Gyelys Brewes, gentleman, of the other, being a grant to the said John Jernegan of a tenement in Ashby (Askeby) called 'Bukmongere's' with 32 acres of land. (See MS. Ch. Suffolk 756.)

William de la Pole, marquis and earl of Suffolk and of Pembroke, grants to Adrian Spierins, clerk, in consideration of his work certain mines of gold and silver and other metals, all the "testewerke, dedewerke, afterwasshe and slagges" that come from the mines, for a term of 16 years without any payment, and also an annuity of £20 until he be preferred to a stately benefice of holy church fitting his degree. Dated 3 Feb., 26 Hen. VI (1448). [With autograph signature.]

Declaration by several clergy, the parson of Beccles (Becclys), Edmund Garneys, priest, Robert Grene, priest, Adam Fraunceys, priest, and others that certain evidence in a box under a part of their seals, relating to Robert Boys of Blundeston (Blunston) and Joan his wife, are true and credible.
