Indenture by which Robert James, esq., Edward Rede , and John Feynelle, senior, grant to John Walker of Oxford, baker, Michael Nortone , Gilbert Burton , and William Frankleyn , a toft and a virgate of land in Hedyndone, which they had of the gift of John Dulberd, clerk, Richard Bruns , and John Hore . William Felter, Doctor of Decrees, of the church of York , testifies after examination consequent upon an archiepiscopal visitation that Boulton ought to hold the churches of Kildewyk, Preston, Horwode, and Skypton, with the chapel of Carletone, to their own use. 26 Nov. 1441.

Broughton.. License to John Thwaites , for 26 marks paid into the Hanaper, to grant the church of Broughton, which is worth 18 marks a year, to Boulton. Given at Westminster. By writ of P.S. 12 June ⟨1442.⟩

Broughton.. The rectors of Bolton in Lowland and Marton in Craven have, on the receipt of letters from John archbishop of York (given at his manor of Ripon, 21 Aug. 1442), ascertained by inquisition in the church of Skipton (27 Aug. 1442) that the church of Broughton which John Thewayt Esq. wished to give to the priory of B⟨olton⟩ , is worth, in land, 40/-, and in tithes &c. £13/6/4: that it should pay to the archbishop 14/2, to the King for a tenth 20/6, and that there are many burdens which they cannot estimate. Broughton.. John Thwaytes, Esq., quit-claims to the prior &c. of Boulton his right in the advowson of the church of Broughton. An endorsement notes that it will be found amongst the Recognisances for Easter 31 Hen. VI, on the K.R. Mem. Roll. 6 Sept. ⟨1442.⟩

Broughton.. Transcripts(on paper) of an Inspeximus by William, dean, and chapter of York, of a charter of John abp. of York to Boulton, dated in the palace at York, 7 October, 1442, confirming to them the church of Broughton. They are to pay 4/- to the abp. and 2/8 to the dean and chapter: 10 marks to the vicar, and 3/4 in Lent, yearly, to the poor of the parish. 7 Dec. c. 1443. Endorsed: ‘Ex Registro Domini Johannis Kemp quondam Eboracensis Archiepiscopi, folio 454.’

Broughton.. Indenture by which Thomas, prior of Boulton , grants to John Thwaites and Isabella his wife the manor of Hille, on condition that if they are ejected from the rectory of Broughton they shall have again the manor of Hille. Given in the chapter-house. 20 July ⟨1452.⟩

Kildewyk.. Public instrument witnessing that in the Cathedral church of York, Thomas Salby, vicar of Preston-in-Craven gave power of attorney to Master William Malster, Doctor of Decrees, canon of York , John Worseley, Bachelor of Laws, William Brandon , John Gysburne and John Haymer, clerks, in a case before the archbishop concerning his vicarage. 10 May 1455.

Chaddleswick (Worcs.).. Indenture by which John Burton, clerk, master of the Hospital of S. Wulfstan’s, Worcester, outside Sudburyegate, leases to John Lynchalle of Altchurch (Worc.) the manor of Chaddewyche in the parish of Bromesgrove. For 69 years. Rent: 13/4. ⟨29 Sept.⟩ 1496.

Letters patent of Robert Johnson, bachelor of laws, official of the bishop of Worcester , stating that at the request of Richard Marshall, S.T.P., dean of Oxford , he caused the Worcester episcopal archives to be searched on 14 Jan. 1555, by Wm. Warmsey, notary public, who found: 4 ⟨July or August⟩ 1555.

• (i) Ordination of Silvester, bp. of Worcester , for the churches of Wotton and Preston-upon-Stour, appropriated to the abbey of Tewkesbury, assessing the church at £34, and providing for pensions from Wotton of 13/- to the bishop, 6/8 to the Dean and chapter, ¼ to the archdeacon, and from Preston 7/-, ¾, and ¼ respectively. Dated 15 April, 1555.
• (ii) License of Henry VII to Sir John Mordaunt, kt., William Grevill, sergeant-at-law, and Walter Rowdon , to grant the advowson of Wotton to Tewksbury. Dated 12 May (rectius 12 March), 1497.
