ALVRYNTON. William de Shareshull and William de Gersyndon appoint John Lucy and William Genet , their attorneys, to accept seisin in their name of all messuages, lands, etc. which Robert Scovile held in Alvrynton. Dated at Alvrynton the Saturday in the feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, 37 Ed. III.

John L... of Tewkesbury grants to John Whythe of the same place a burgage which he lately acquired by the feoffment of Agnes de Cryckelade in the village of Tewkesbury. Dated at Tewkesbury the Thursday next after the feast of St. Michael 'in monte tumba,' 5 Rich. II.

THORNBURY. Confirmation by Walter [Reynolds], archbishop of Canterbury , of the appropriation of the church of Thornbury, Worcester diocese, to the abbot and monastery of B. V. M. of Theokesbury, dated 3 id. Feb. 1314, and approved by the prior and chapter of Worc. 10 Kl. Apr. 1314. Dated at Lamhuth, 5th Nones of May, 1316.

AYLSHAM and FAKENHAM. Exchequer Constat extracted from the great roll of the pipe, [44 Edw. III], containing a grant of the manor of Wyghton with the hundred of Northgreneho and the manors of Aylesham and Fakenhamdam in co. Norfolk, the manor of Saham in county Cambridge, the manor of Whitgift, co. York, manor of Berton Bristol, co. Gloster, manor of Sevenhampton and Stratton, co. Wiltes, to Robert de Knolles and Constance his wife for the whole term of their lives at an annual rent of £745 7s. The acquittance is given to the prior and convent of Ely for £76 13s. 4d., being the reserved rent for a portion of the year due for the manor of Saham, co. Cambridge, committed to the said prior and convent, 26 Sept., [43 Edw. III], at a rent of £100 per annum.

ALRYNGTON, co. Gloucester. John Sonde acknowledges to have received 50s. of the abbot and convent of Oseney from their manor of Alryngton for the dower of Joan his wife. Dated 12 April, 16 (?) Richard II.

STOW and BIBURY, co. Glouo. A fragment of an episcopal confirmation to the abbey of Oseney of the churches of Stow and Bibury, formerly belonging to the church of St. George. Dated Sept. 14. Temp. Hen. IV or V.

BARDESLEY (Barnsley), co. Gloucester. Commission from Wolstan, bishop of Worcester , to the dean of Bibury, to cause an examination to be made of the dilapidations of the chancel and the manse of Bardesley, at the death of Thomas le Heyr, late rector, at the suit of Geoffrey ate Cherche of Great Waltham , the present rector. Dated at Wychindon, 2 Sept., 1341.

An acknowledgment from the abbot and convent of Cirencester that they have received from the abbot of Oseney 26s. 8d. for the church of Bybury and other sums for 3 other churches etc., for the subsidy granted to the King for the defence of the kingdom by the clergy of Canterbury. Dated at Cyrencester, 4 Kl. Feb., 1337.

An acquittance given by Henry de Neubold, clerk, sequestrator of Wolstan, bp. of Worcester , to Thomas de Mannesfeld, keeper of Bibury , for the payment of 12s. for the jurisdiction of Bibury, due to the bishop from the abbey of Oseney. Dated 6 Kl. December, 1348.

Richard de Ledebury, archdeacon of Gloucester , acknowledges that the abbot and convent of Oseney are exempt from archidiaconal jurisdiction for the chapel of Baindesleye within the territory of the church of Bibury, and that they have the right of inducting the rector of Baindesleye. Dated at Ledebury, 5 Kl. Jan., 1353.

CLANFIELD, BAMPTON, BENNEY, and RUSSHEY, co. Oxon, and BIBURY and TURKDEN, co. Gloucester. Court roll for the above manors held 13 Ed. III. [Mutilated and partially illegible.] .

HEREFORDSHIRE; HATFIELD; WYDENHAM. Emeric Pauncefot, kt., brother and heir of Grymbald Pauncefot , grants to Walter de la Mor, son of the late John [de la Mor] of Cowarne [Much Cowarne or Little Cowarne] a messuage, land, and common of pasture in Wydenham in the vill and manor of Hasfeld. Dated at Madersfeld on the vigil of Pentecost, 9 Ed. II. [Slightly mutilated.] .

Thrupp. Inspeximus and confirmation of the following documents by John, Bishop of Lincoln . 14 March 1311.

• (i) Richard, bishop of Lincoln grants the churches of Scaldeford, Bissebrok, and Southrop to D⟨aventry⟩ (The amount they paid for it is not legible.) Given at Bukkedene, 27 November 1266.
• (ii) Letters of the dean and chapter confirming (1). Given at Lincoln 21 April 1267.
• (iii) Letter of the bishop to the archdeacon of Northampton to give D⟨aventry⟩ corporal possession of the Church. Given at Leicester. 31 March 1286. (The Inspeximus tells us that this was on the death of Robert le Paumer, rector of Throp ). D⟨aventry⟩ instituted as their vicar, John of Daventry, chaplain: it was then found that the tithes were worth (1) of grain 15 marks a year (2) of hay from demesne meadows 8/- (3) of hay from other meadows, (4) of 2 virgates 2 acres pertaining to the Church, with pasture 32/-, (5) All other tithes 3½ marks. The monks are to bear two-thirds of all burdens on the Church, and the vicar one-third.
• (iv) Letters patent of Oliver, bishop of Lincoln to the archdeacon of Northampton to put John of D⟨aventry⟩ in possession. Given at Theyden. 4 May 1286.
• (v) Letters patent of the same (the same date) saying that at the instance of the monks he has written [as in (iv)] to the archdeacon. Given at Storne Park [Lincs.].

Another copy. ⟨Letters patent of Walter, bp. of Worcester , relating the many causes of the poverty of Theokesbury, and giving licence to appropriate the church of Thornbury, having due regard to the rights of the then rector, master Roger called the Marshal , and assessing the church at 26 marks a year. Given at London.⟩ ⟨11 Feb. 1314.⟩

An acquittance to Oseney by John Sonde, knight, for the payment of 50s. from the manor of Allryngton, being dos of his wife, Joan, for the term of Easter Last. Andover, May 1, 14 Ric. II (1391).
