Grant. Beckington (Somerset) (manor). [c. 1240-1250] (1250). . Grant from Ysolda de Erlegh, widow, to Felicia de Erlegh her daughter that half virgate of land in the manor of Bekenton which Hamo de la Rigge sometime held of her, together with the said Hamo [Hamundum] and all his chattels, and 15 1/2 acres of land of her lordship, paying annually for the same 12d. and one half pound of cummin; to hold the same to her and her heirs, in default to revert to Ysolda and her assigns. Dated considering that the husband of Ysolda died in 1228 (Collinson's 'Somerset') and that Sir Geoffrey Dynhem, a witness, in 1258.

Fine made at Westminster, on the octave of St. John Bapt., 29 Henry III, between Robert, the abbot of the place of St. Edward, plaintiff, and Roger de Clere, defendant, concerning the advowson of the church of Shyre, and 100 acres of land in the same village, which are acknowledged to be the right of the said abbot and his church by the grant of the said Roger in free alms (copy, late in 14th century).

Confirmation of grant. Netley, Cistercian abbey. Epiphany [6 January], 1252 (1252). . Confirmation by John de Warren, earl of Surrey, son of William, formerly earl of Warren, of the donation of Roger de Clere dated on the octave of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 1243, to the abbot and convent of the place of St. Edward, of the land [100 acres] in the manor of Shyre, together with the advowson of the church (copy, late in 14th century).

Arguments, list of points to be proved. Dore, Cistercian abbey. [c. 1265] (1265). . Arguments ("Positiones secundo factae") by the proctor of the chapter of Hereford in a suit between the dean and chapter, and the abbot and convent of Dore, respecting the rent due from the latter for the farm of a manor not named [Holme Lacy]; with a long list of points intended to be proved by the proctor of the said abbot and convent, relating to the seizure of the manor by Sir R. de Clifford, and a claim to it, "episcopi et canonicorum Burgundensium".

Convention. Leicester, Augustinian abbey. Feast of St. Mildrith [13 July], 1217 (1217). . Convention (heading torn away) made in settlement of a dispute between the late earl of Lincoln, William, and the late Robert, earl of Leicester [before 1200?], the abbot and convent of the monastery of Leicester of the one part, and the church of Lincoln of the other, by which the manor of Knihteton in the suburb of Leicester is assigned to Lincoln, and the land of Sedgrave with the homage of Stephen de Sedgrave and the mills of Effordeby are granted to the abbey. Witness: Ralph the parson of Effordeby, amongst many others.

Composition between the abbot and convent of Lyra, and the abbot and convent of Quarrer, concerning the tithes of Arreton, Hasely, Titelingeham, Lovecumbe, and Scandecumbe, belonging to the abbey of Lyra, and the tithes of Cosham, and around the castle of Caresbrok, Ruherigg, Ruheburge, within the limits of the parish of Caresbrok, belonging to the church of Caresbrok; by which the abbey of Quarrer is to have the tithes of the five former places, paying annually 40s to the abbey of Lyra.

Writ. Hilderskelfe (Yorkshire, North Riding), Ganthorpe (Yorkshire, North Riding). 3 January, 20 Ed. I (1292). . Writ from King Edward I to Simon de Grymmesby, escheator in the counties of York, Northumberland, Cumberland, and Westmorland, commanding him to pay, out of the lands of Ralph, late baron of Graistok, deceased, now in the king's hands, an annual rent of twenty marks, together with two robes and a saddle suitable for a knight (which said rent, robes and saddle were charged upon the manor of Hildreskelf held of John le Bygot, and certain other lands and tenements in Galinethorp held of Ralph de Nevill), to Thomas de Belton, knight, as with the arrears due to him. Dated at Kenilworth.

Pleadings. Jervaulx, Cistercian abbey. [14 Oct.] 1214 (1214). . Pleadings in a cause between the abbot and convent of Jorevall and Ranulf, son of Robert, for preventing the said abbot pasturing and enjoying other easements in the forest of Wandesleydale, where he had built 39 houses; judgement given in favour of the Abbey on the day of pope Calistus, 1214. Endorsed with a copyof the foundation deed, in part illegible.

Quitclaim. Huntingdonshire (county). Thursday next after the feast of SS. Simon and Jude [3 November], 52 Hen. III (1267). . Quitclaim by John, son of John le Moyne of Selford, to Vincent de Stonle an annual rent of 5 marks, which he was accustomed to pay to the said John for the whole of that land which he has in the county of Huntingdon, as the father of the said John sometime held that land in Littlehei, for originally an annual payment of 4 marks, which rent has been reduced by two subsequent grants to an annual charge of 2s. for all services. Dated at Selford.

Convention. Waterbeche (Cambridgeshire), Mesdone m (Hertfordshire) (manor). Quindene of Hilary, 47 Hen. III to Michaelmas, for five years from Michaelmas (1268). . Convention made between the lady Dionisia de Muntchenes', lady of Anestie, of the one part, and Richard le Butiller, rector of the church of Mesdone, of the other, namely, that the said Richard grants to Dionisia the whole of a tenement which Robert his brother held in the village of Waterbeche, in the co. of Cambridge, with all its appurtenances, to hold the same for her life as dower, for the third part of the lands of the said Robert le Butiller, formerly her husband; also he grants the manor of Mesdone, in the county of Herteford, with the wood called ' Smalhey' to hold the same from the Quindene of St. Hilary, 47 Hen. III, until the feast of St. Michael, and from the same feast to the end of five years, at an annual rent or the five years of £30.

Grant in frankalmoign. Sopwell, Benedictine priory. [c. 1253] (1253). . Grant from Sir John de Scheldford, kt., in frankalmoigne, to the church of St. Mary of Soppewelle, and to the nuns there, 5s. of annual rent with homages, reliefs, wards, escheats, and all other appurtenances in the Soke of the Park (Socha de Parco), which he bought of Geoffrey, son of John de Eywude; rendering yearly one halfpenny. [Witnessed by Will. [?] de St. Leger, seneschal of St. Albans, who held that office in 1253.]

Grant. Dedington (Oxfordshire) (manor). [c. 1210-1220] (1220). . Grant from Aliz, daughter of Thomas Basseth, to Gilbert [...] half a virgate of land which William [...], which is of her free marriage dowry in Dadinton, also one virgate which Thomas Basseth her father gave to him, which William Ploth held in the same village; paying annually one pound of cummin.

Grant from William, son and heir of William de Eboraco, kt., to Amand de Surdeval and Cecilia his wife, mother of the said William, his wife for dower, four bovates of land and three tofts in Esk with five serfs their chattels and belongings, together with the first gift of the moiety of the church of Brennesale in Craven, which Sir Richard de Knol had by gift of the said William's father in exchange for her dower in Craven, viz. in Coningstone, Hebbedenne, Brennesale, Heton, and in Thorp, saving certain serfs and lands to the said Amand and Cecilia, subject to an annual rent of 2s. 6d. to the said William, and a rent of 6s. to the lady Alicia la Chaumberlenk.

Grant in frankalmoigne. Bruern, Cistercian abbey. [c. 1200] (1200). . Grant from William, son of William de Seldesleia, to the monks of Brueria that half hide which he gave and confirmed by his charter, in frankalmoigne, and one virgate of land which Osbert de Ludelay sold to the said monks; describing particulars in detail; among witnesses "toto haliot de Fifhida".

Grant. Caton (Lancashire). [c. 1260-1270] (1270). . Grant from Roger, son of Vivian Gernet, to the brethren of the hospital of St. John of Jerusalem, one bovate of land with a messuage in the village of Caton, also one acre in the same village between the land of the abbot of Cokersand, and the land of Roger Gernet of Caton, at the "scidyard" of Welsted; and two acres of land lying at the upper head of Welested.
