STOKE (Priory of). Hamo Pecche ("Peccatum"), son of Gilbert Peccatum, remits to the prior and convent of Stoke all his right in the tithes of his lordship of Gestingthorpe (Gestinget') [endorsed: 'Gestingetorp']. (c. 1220-30.)

SUDBURY (College of St. Gregory at). Bond given by the warden and brethren of the college of St. Gregory at Sudbury, to pay to Henry, bp. of Norwich, and his successors, an annual pension of two marks, for the first fruits of their church. Dated at Norwich on the feast of St. Luke, evang. (18 Oct.), 1381.

SYBETON (Abbey of). A confirmation by Henry, bp. of Norwich, of the privileges of the abbot and convent of Sybeton at his visitation, they having exhibited their muniments, &c. for the appropriations of the churches of Sibton (Sybeton) with the chapel of Peasenhall (Pesenhale), Cransford (Cranisford), Rendham, Westleton, and Tunstall. Dated 22 January, 1394. [Copies of both Ch. Suffolk 235 and 236]

Certificate of Peter Schelton, LL.B., commissary of Alexander, bp. of Norwich , that at a visitation held 24 November, 1408, in the parish church of Frostenden, the abbot and convent of Sybeton produced evidences of the appropriation of the church of Sibton (Sybeton) with the chapel of Peasenhall (Pesenhale) annexed, and also of the appropriation of the churches of Rendham, Cransford (Cranisford), Westleton, and Tunstall, and repeated at a visitation held in Beccles ("Bekkelys") church 18 June, 1413. [Original of the first.]

Peasenhall.. An inhibition from Roger Radclyff, dean of arches staying the presentation of dom. Thomas Braycrofte to the church of Peasenhall (Pesenale) by the bp. of Norwich, on the representation of the abbot and convent of Sybeton, pending an appeal. Dated at London, 2 Kl. June (31 May), 1466.

Certificate from William Woode, commissary of James, bp. of Norwich , that the abbot and convent of Sybeton exhibited their muniments, &c. concerning the appropriation of the half of the church of Sibton (Sybeton) with the chapel of Peasenhall (Pesenale), the parish churches of Rendham, Cransford (Cranesford), and Westleton, and of Tunstall (Tunstale), at a visitation held at Ipswich 11 October, 1474.

Robert de Burnovill' grants to St. Felix, at Waletone and the monks there, his man Elfric Pipin with all his children, free of all service. For this donation the prior and monks gave to him 10s. (c. 1170-80.) Witn. Roger Bigod his lord.

WALTON, St. FELIX (Priory of). William de Burnevilla grants to the St. Felix and the monks there, his man Eluric Pipin with his children, free of all service except xvd., which Fulk the prior and his successors will give annually to the said William, to be paid by the monks until the death of one of them; and for this grant 20s. are paid. (c. 1160-70.) [Chirograph.]

⟨Walton (?) or Trimley St Martin (?)⟩ William, lord of Grimestune, grants to St. Felix and the monks there, in frankalmoigne, for the souls of his wife and of his successors 12d. from the land which was Eadnoth's, which Roger Cristemasse holds. (c. 1210-20.) [Done in the time of Robert, the prior.]

⟨Walton (?)⟩ Richard de Stampes grants to the priory of Walton St. Felix, in frankalmoigne, an annual rent of 6d. (c. 1210-30.) [Endorsed "Tempore Roberti prioris"] [Partly effaced.]

Isabella, the daughter of Hugh Joye, grants to the church of St. Felix 2d. annual rent in Walton. (c. 1250-70.)

Thomas Wolsey, archbishop of York, remits and quit-claims to the duke of Norfolk, Thomas Wentworth, Philip Tylney, John Cornewales, Edmund Wyndham, and Edmund Knevet, all right, &c. to lands, advowsons, &c. belonging to the priory of Felixstowe, co. Suffolk. Dated 20 October, 21 Hen. VIII (1529). Granted to them by Will. Capon, the master of the College of St. Mary at Gipewic of which he was the founder.

Nicholas, the prior, and convent of Woodbridge grant to Robert Wyvyle, esq., a certain annual rent or pension of £6 sterling for the term of his life, issuing out of their lands &c. in the villages of Brampton (Bramston), Newbourne (Neuburne), and Hemley (Helmole). Dated at Woodbridge, 10 August, 31 Hen. VI (1453).

[MS. Ch. Suffolk 246 was described as follows in 1878. That number is not now to be found, but the entry was probably mistaken duplication of the above entry.] Nicholas, the prior, and convent of St. Mary of Woodbridge confirm to Robert Wyvyle, esq., an annual pension of £6 for his life, issuing out of the manors of Brampton (Bramston), Haspley with Newbourne (Neuburne), and Hemley (Helmole), co. Suffolk; and if Beatrice, wife of the said Robert, should survive him, she to have a pension of 4 marks. Dated at Woodbridge, 10 August, 31 Hen. VI (1453).

ACTON. Walter, son of Richard de Lulham, grants to John, son of Wygot Hake, for 43s. in hand paid, three acres of arable land in the village of Acton (Haketon), for an annual rent of 5d. (c. 1270-80.)

Sir Andrew Bures, kt., appoints sir Richard Tappell (?) of Wykk his attorney to give seisin of certain land in Great Waldingfield (Great Waldingfeld) to ... [Entirely effaced!] Dated at Acton (Aketon) ..., 31 Ed. III.

⟨Acton (?)⟩ John, son of Joan, daughter of the late Joanle Thek [entirely effaced, ⟨see ch.⟩ 250] of Acton (Aketon) , remits and quit-claims to Thomas Fraunce and others all right in a piece of a meadow ... [A large part effaced.] Dated Sunday next after the feast of St. Hilary, . . Ed. [III? II?].

Dated at Acton (Aketon), 29 April, 16 Hen. VII (1501).

Indenture made 12 May, 10 Hen. VIII (1518), by which the lady Anne Arundel, widow, leases to Robert Bryon a messuage and all that belongs to it in Acton (Aketon), for 10 years, at an annual rent of £8 13s. 4d. [much rubbed]

Indenture dated 30 June, 37 Hen. VIII (1545), by which Robert Crane , esq., demises to Robert Man of Acton (Aketon), husbandman, his mease in Acton (Aketon) called Gybbes att Bearne, with lands &c. thereto belonging, for 12 years, at an annual rent of £9.

Andrew Halys of Newton (Neuton) and John Belleard grant to Gilbert Warein of Acton (Aketon) and others a cottage wall a garden called Laggardys in Acton (Aketon). Dated on the day of the feast of the Holy Innocents in Christmas week, [16?] Hen. [VII?]. [Partly obliterated.]

BOXFORD and GROTON. Robert Swayn of Stoke by Nayland (Stoke) sells to Richard Walton certain lands &c. in the parishes of Boxford and Groton. Dated 10 December, 18 Elizabeth (1575).

Richard Walton of Boxford, clothier, sells and confirms to Henry Vintenor of Groton, clothier, a capital messuage, houses, lands, orchards, crofts, &c. situated in the parishes of Boxford and Groton. Dated 6 September, 31 Elizabeth (1589).

BOXSTEAD. Cecilia, daughter and heir of sir William Giffard, kt., jun., came here in court the Wednesday next after the octave of the Holy Trinity, and inrolled a charter dated at Boxted (Boxstede) the Monday next after the feast of St. Barnabas, 36 Ed. III (13 June 1362), by which she quit-claimed to Stephen Bacoun and Beatrice his wife all her right in the manor with the advowson of the church of Boxted (Boxstede) and all the lands which they hold in Hartest (Hertherst) and Glemsford (Glemusford).
