Indenture of agreement made between the abbot and convent of Neuhous, and William de Sibertoft, 'corrodarius' of the said abbot and convent, demising to the said William the manors of Akerholes and Wykehame, with the lands, meadows, and pastures pertaining to the same, excepting those meadows and pastures retained for the flocks of the abbot and convent and tenants' rents and the profits of the courts; to hold the same together with all horses, bulls, and cows, and other animals and things existing in the said manors, to the said William, from the feast of St. Michael, 39 Ed. III, until the end of five years, at an annual rent of 40s. and the share of corn for two or three shepherds, according to the custom of the country, and other conditions as to the repair of all the houses at Akerholes and Wykehame, etc.

Lincoln, to the prior and convent of St. Mary of Bolynton, in the same county, in frankalmoigne, with the consent of Nicholas, Master of the Order, one bovate of arable land in the territory and fields of Nettilton, with the advowson and patronage of the church of St. John Baptist there.

Petition. Swanscomb (Kent) (manor), Painswick (Gloucestershire) (manor), Goodrich Castle (Herefordshire) (manor). [1326-7] (1327). . Petition of Richard, son of Gilbert Talebot, and Elizabeth his wife ("sa compaigne") to the king and his council, complaining of the Hugh le Despensers (father and son) having seized the said Elizabeth and imprisoned her at Purebricke in Surrey and obtained by force a deed conveying the manor of Swannescompe; and having likewise forced her by threats before John de Bousser, one of the justices, to ensure to them the manor of Payneswyk in Glouc. and of Castle Godrich, and then before William de Clyf, a clerk in Chancery, are bound to them in £20,000, which bond was enrolled in Chancery. They pray therefore redress (French). Endorsed with notes of orders theron (largely illegible).

Writ to prepare Letters patent. [Kent?] (England) (county). 6 July and 24 Nov. [?], 11 Ed. IV (1471). . Writ from King Edward IV to Robert [Stillington], bishop of Bath and Wells, the chancellor, commanding him to prepare letters patent to John, son and heir of Sir Edward Broke, kt., deceased, granting him all the lands etc., of his late father. Dated at Westminster. A memorandum in added that the writ was delivered to the Chancellor for execution on 24 Nov. [?] in that year.

Grant. Bullington, Gilbertine priory. 12th century (1200). . Grant from Agnes, wife of Herbert, son of Adelard, to the church of St. Mary, Bolyngdon, and the brethren there, one small carucate of land in Suth Feriby, and one toft in the same village of the fee of Bartumere, and a donation of half the church; which land she bought of her husband for 15 marks, which she now gives to the church which her father Symon founded. Dated in their chapter-house of Sixhill (copy in the late 14th century of a 12th century deed).

Grant. Tindale Barony (Northumberland) (manor). 5 October, 3 Hen. VI (1424). . Grant from Oderd de Ridlee to William de Stapilton of Edenell, sen., esq., and Robert Couper, rector of Whitfelde, all his lands and tenements, rents and services in Hantwesill, Caldlabbe, Hensalgh, Thornegrafton, and Milnehouse, and all his other lands etc., within the lordship and liberty of Tyndale. Writ from King Edward II to John de Bousser to go personally to Elizabeth Comyn because she is so infirm that she cannot without great danger attend at Westminster, and receive from her acknowledgement of the fine to be levied in the king's bench between herself and Hugh le Despenser, jun., concerning the castle and manor of Castel Goderich, etc. Dated at Beaulieu.

Grant. Chesham (Buckinghamshire). 26 July, 24 Hen. VIII (1532). . Grant from John Adkyn of Chesham to Robert Cheyne, John Cheyne, jun., Robert Goodif, Stephen Rowberd, Richd. Fox, James Birche, and Henry Adkyn his son, the whole of that messuage or tenement, with curtilage and garden adjoining, in Chesham, co. Bucks, also 8 pieces of arable land in a field called ' le westden feld ' in the same parish. Dated at Chesham.

Fine. Bruern, Cistercian abbey. 3 Rich. I (1192). . Fine made between the abbot and convent of Bruer', plaintiffs, and Juliana de Caudr', defendant, appearing by her husband, William de Mandevill, concerning 104 acres of land, a meadow, etc., in Cercell [Churchill, Oxfordshire], which the said Juliana gives in frankalmoigne, in exchange for a carucate which the abbot claimed of her in the same village, the abbot giving also ten marks. (mutilated, copy, probably written about 1250)

Release and quitclaim. South Witham (Lincolnshire). Feast of St. Martin, bishop, 36 Henry VI (1457). . Release and quitclaim by Robert Dycon to William Brett of Castell Byteham, all his right, etc. in all those lands, tenements, rents, and services, in South Wythom, co. Lincoln, which descended to him by heirship after the death of Katherine Dycon his mother, daughter and one of the heirs of William Mason of Swafeld.

Petition of Walter de la Pole and Elizabeth his wife, great-granddaughter of Thomas de Bradestone, to the king [Hen. IV] that he would make [...] of a grant of 500 marks made to the said Thomas for sustaining the estate of banneret by the king's great-grandfather King Edward ; the said king having pledged his castle of Thlanveir and lordship of Buelt in South Wales, formerly held by Alice, Countess of Lincoln, for her life for this payment.

Indenture made between Richard Welles, Lord Willoughby, knt., on the one part, and Robert Waterton, knight on the other, witnesses that whereas a grant has been made to Robert Flemmyng, dean of Lincoln, Thomas Dymmok, kt., and others, of the manors, lands, and tenements in the co. of York, which late they had with Lyon, late Lord Welles, kt., Walter Calverley, and Richard Waterton, of the demise of Gilbert Lee, Raynald Tynley, and Thomas Elys, to hold the same to them and their assigns for ever, nevertheless the said Richard Welles shall take one hundred marks yearly from the said manors, etc., until 27 obligations shall be fully paid (English).

Certificate. Alcester, Benedictine abbey. [1158-1159] (1159). . Certificate of T[heobald], archbishop of Canterbury, after consultation with other bishops and in the presence of Robert, Earl of Legre[cestre], the founder of the abbey, that the monks of Alencester have the right of free election of their abbot, (being the prior) against the claim of A[lured], the bishop and monks of Worcester, who withdrew their alleged claim. Grant. York, St. Peter's (later St. Leonard's) Hospital. [c. 1230-1240] (1240). . Grant from Richard Mallevrer to the poor of the hospital of St. Peter, York, the whole of his arable land in the territory of Langebergh [see Drake's 'Eboracum', p. 54, a destroyed town] which Walter the smith formerly held of him.

Grant. Burghley (Lincolnshire). [c. 1230-1240] (1240). . Grant from William Cumin to Robert, son of William de Burleya, half a hide of land in Burleya, with a grove, except the close which is near Pathelauwe, and the tenement of Thomas, son of Geri, which the said William [de Burley] acquired from Gerie [?} and quit-claimed to the grantor, paying annually 18d. for all service.

Demise. Nostell, Augustinian priory. Feast of St. Martin in the winter, 1374 (1374). . Indenture witnessing that the prior and convent of St. Oswald of Nostell demised to Robert Dany, vicar of Bustall [Birstal], and Robert Swepstak of Westerton, their manor of Bustall, called the rectory, with appurtenances for 20 years, at an annual rent of 53s. 4d. Dated at Folby.
