COKESLONE. Robert Armstrong and Margaret his wife grant to sir Thomas de Harcourt, kt., all the lands &c. they had by gift and feoffment of sir Ralph de Ferrers, kt., in Cokeslone, co. Stafford. Dated at Cokeslone the Sunday next after the feast of St. Michael, 47 Ed. III.

GNOSTALL. Power of attorney from Robert Whittegreue of Burton, near Stafford , appointing Thomas Jones and Thomas Caldewell his true and legitimate attorneys to surrender into the hands of the prebendary of Beverly hall at Gnostall a messuage with lands adjacent near Beverley, called Geffrey's, and three fields near Alwaysmore, and three others called le Shild croft, Asty, and Watcrofte, to the use of Thomas Forst, chaplain, William Forst , and Richard Forst the son of William Forst , and their assigns in perpetuity. Dated 21 May, 19 Hen. VII.

LICHFIELD. Letters patent dated at Tuttebury, 4 January, 1 Ed. [III] (1328), being a licence granted at the request of Richard de Ayremynne , that the vicar of the church of St. Cedde, Lichfield, may hold lands, tenements, and rents to the value of 100s., notwithstanding the Statute of Mortmain.

MORTON. Convention made Ascension day, 28 Ed. I, by which Michael, son of Michael de Morton , demises to William Wardecors , for a term of 32 years, for 30s. in hand paid, a messuage with a curtilage and half a virgate of land in the village of Morton, which the said William formerly held, paying annually for the same 6s.

Convention dated on the day of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, 29 Ed. I, by which Michael and Walter de Morton , the lords, grant to Robert, son of Hugh de Orsolooue , common pasture in the fee of Morton for all kinds of animals, as marked by boundaries (which are specified) for 25 years, paying 6d. annually, and giving 20s. for entrance.

James, son of Reginald de Morton , grants to Michael, son of William de Morton , the whole of his part which lie has in 'le Polsiche' to make a fish-pond, with the whole reflow of water and sufficient land for the same, for which the said Michael gives the whole of his part which he has in a certain meadow called 'le Hokmedue,' near the water-mill of Morton, and half a mark. (1260.) Witn. sir William de Cavershwalle, sheriff of Staffordshire and Salop , etc.

John, son of Michael de Morton , grants to Robert, son of Richard de Wilbruyghton , for his life a messuage and land adjoining that which William del Brok held in the fee of Morton, and one acre of meadow in Brademedewe, paying annually 3s., with a cok and a hen and a pennyworth of bread at Christmas, and ten eggs at Easter. (c. 1300.) .

John de Moreton grants to Robert Brydd of Orselowe and Matilda his wife the whole part of one meadow which he has in Moreton in the new meadow which is called 'le Turnymersche,' for the term of their lives. Dated at Moreton the Thursday next after the feast of the apostles SS. Peter and Paul, 10 Ed. II.

Thomas Foster of Salforde, co. Bedford , in part fulfilment of a certain Chancery decree dated 3 July, Trinity term last, grants to Edmund Pedder and Thomas Crosse the whole of his manor of Moreton in co. Stafford, in trust for him, his wife Elizabeth and his heirs. Dated 26 October, 1 Q. Mary (1553).

Thomas Foster de Salford, co. Beds, esq., in part fulfilment of a certain Chancery decree dated 3 July, Trinity term last, grants to Edmund Pedder and Thomas Cross the whole of his manor of Morton in Staffordshire, in trust for him, his wife Elizabeth and his heirs. Dated 27 February, 7 Ed. VI.

Edward Lewson of Perton, esq., Robert Eyton of Donnyngton, Salop, esq., and Thomas Wyke of Pryors Lee, Salop, gent., grant to George Forster of Ivelith, esq. the whole of their manor of Morton in the county of Stafford. Dated 20 May, 2 Elizabeth.

(Shropshire) NEWTOWNE, WOLVERLEY, and NORTHWOOD. Deed of consecration of a churchyard adjoining the chapel of Newtown of the B. K. Charles the Martyr by John, bp. of Lichfield and Coventry , for the hamlets of Newtowne, Wolverley, and Northwood. Dated at Newtowne, 7 June, 1665.

RONTON. Edward Doyle, esq., grants to John Harecourt and others his manor of Ronton in co. Stafford. Dated 24 March, 30 Hen. VI.

SANDWELL (Priory of). Richard N..(?) of Little B[arr] grants to the church of S. Mary Magd. and monks of Sondwell, in frankulmoigne, a certain part of his land to increase the land of the said monks. (c. 1240-50.) .

ESILBERGH (Bucks) [Eddlesborough]. Alan de Maydewelle certifies to H[ugh] bishop fo Lincoln that he remits and quit-claims all right in the half of the church of Esilbergh to the prior and monks of Sandwell. (c. 1230.) .

STANLOWE. William, son of Robert Avenel of Midilton , grants to William, son of Milo de Siverhul , the whole of his land which he has at Stanlowe in the territory of Midilton, Caldalowe and elsewhere, saving the dowry of his mother " Dyonisie "; paying annually one penny, (c. 1270-80.) .

STOKE DOYLEY (Northamptonshire). Margaret, daughter of the late Edward Doily , grants to Egelina , who was the wife of sir John Bagod of Bromleygh Bagod, kt., for her life, all her lands and tenements in Stokedoily which she had of the gift and feoffment of the said Egelina. Dated at Stoke Doiley the Monday next after the feast of St. Barnabas the apostle, 47 Ed. III.

TRENTHAM (Priory of). Bond given by Nicholas, the prior, and the convent of Trentham to Thomas de Schelton for payment of a loan of 10 marks. Dated at Trentham the Wednesday next before the feast of the Purification of the B. V. M., 1382.

WALTON upon TRENTE. Indenture of a lease made the ... of November, 8 Charles I, between Thomas Donne of Donne, co. Stafford , and ... of the one part, and Robert Donne of Walton upon Trente, yeoman, of the other part. [Mutilated.] .

CALFDON [Cauldon]. Bertram, son of William, son of Ralph , grants to Nicholas the clerk, son of Geoffrey the clerk of Esseburn , for 2 1/2 marks, 8 bovates of land in Calfdon, and three tofts, with three acres, in the same village, at an annual rent of 10s. [c. 1200] .

CROKESDENE (Abbey of). Charter of foundation of Crokesdene Abbey, Staffordshire, by Bertram de Verdon . [c. 1179] .

RUGELEY. Richard de Puteo of Rugeleye grants to Robert ad fontem of Wlseleye , for his homage and service and half a mark of silver, four 'seillions' of his land in the fields of Ruggele, paying annually to him and his heirs one penny, (c. 1240-50.) .

BERLESTON. Humphrey, earl of Stafford and lord of Tonbrygge and of Caus, commands receiver general, and his former bailiff or minister of his manor and lordship of Berleston to pay to Edward Doly and Anne his wife an annuity of £10 from the profits of the said manor, in pursuance of a grant made by him to them, 31 Dec. 3 Hen. VI. Dated at Hull, 12 January, 3 Hen. VI. .

BISSHEBURY. William de Worlascroft, vicar of Bisshebury , and William de Wybaston, chaplain, grant to Thomas Underhull of Bisshebury and Elena his wife with remainder to their son John , one messuage and certain lands and tenements in Bisshebury, which they had by feoffment of the said Thomas, excepting a garden and cottage adjacent which were formerly Richard Underbill 's, and a croft and garden formerly William de Bokyngham 's. Dated at Bisshebury the Sunday next after the feast of St. James, apostle, 42 Ed. III.
