WESTDENE. A commission from John, bp. of Chichester, for annexing two houses in the decayed parish of Excet of which the church is in ruins, to the adjoining parish of Westdene, at the instance of Thomas Mathewe, vicar of Excet, and John Oxynford, rector of Westdene. Dated in the Canons' Close, Chichester 10 April, 1460.
WINCHELSEY. Fragment of a charter by which William Eppelffeld and William Pryns of Winchelse remit and quit-claim to Agnes, who was the wife of Gervase Loueroun , all right in .... in the village of Wynchelse. Dated at 18 Rich. II.
HORSHAM. Godfrey de Crokhurst grants to William ate Denne and Joan his wife one messuage and 14 acres of arable land in a field called 'Brodefeld' in the parish of Horsham, also the reversion of 13 acres and 1 rood in Crokhurst with other lands in Crokhurst and Horsham. Dated at Horsham the Thursday next after the feast of the Holy Trinity, 14 Ed. II.
SADDLESCOMBE. Condition of a bond in £200 from sir Thomas de Nerford to master Paunce de Controno , that the said Thomas shall give up with 15 days of Pentecost the beasts, goods and chattels of the manor of Sadelescombe which he held of the prior of the hospital [of St John of Jerusalem], and which the said Paunce had sold to the prior, in accordance with an inventory made between the Prior and Paunce's brother Peregrine . Dated at Westminster the Friday next after the feast of the Annunciation B.V. M., 1 Ed. III.
