[see his Inquisition post mortem of 1268], in the villages and territories of Hesel, Traneby, Elvesle, and Swaneslund, with buildings, windmill, etc. [Sir Saer de Sutton, a witness, was dead in 1292].

Indenture witnessing that whereas Robert de Scorburg, kt., acknowledged in the king's court at York that he owed £1000 to be paid to Walter de Heselarton, kt., on the feast of Easter, 1343, the said Walter wills and grants for himself and heirs that if the said Robert convey to him and Eustachia his wife the manor of Scorreby and Staynfordbrigg at Easter aforesaid, then the bond for the said £1000 shall be void; with other conditions. Sale relating to the grant of 30,000 sacks of wool, 1341. Yorkshire, North Riding () (county), Yorkshire, East Riding () (county), York (Yorkshire, East Riding). 18 July, 15 Ed. III (1341). . Indenture made between King Edward III of the one part, and William de Acastre, John Goldbeter, and William de Skelton of the other part, concerning the sale to them of 411 sacks and a half of the wool collected in the Northtrithyng and Estrithyng of Yorkshire, and in the city of York, in pursuance of a grant of 30,000 sacks given to the king by the Parliament held at Westminster the Quinzaine of Easter last past; at the price of 16 marks a sack. Dated at London (French).

Writ. Hilderskelfe (Yorkshire, North Riding), Ganthorpe (Yorkshire, North Riding). 3 January, 20 Ed. I (1292). . Writ from King Edward I to Simon de Grymmesby, escheator in the counties of York, Northumberland, Cumberland, and Westmorland, commanding him to pay, out of the lands of Ralph, late baron of Graistok, deceased, now in the king's hands, an annual rent of twenty marks, together with two robes and a saddle suitable for a knight (which said rent, robes and saddle were charged upon the manor of Hildreskelf held of John le Bygot, and certain other lands and tenements in Galinethorp held of Ralph de Nevill), to Thomas de Belton, knight, as with the arrears due to him. Dated at Kenilworth.

Writ. Westerdale Manor (Yorkshire, North Riding) (manor). 25 Feb., 10 Ed. [II] (1317). . Writ from King Edward II, to the sheriff of Warwick, reciting the inquisition on the death of Guy de Beauchamp, earl of Warwick, by which it was found that at his death he was seised in fee of the manor of Westerdale, a member of the barony of Castle Barnard, which said manor is alleged by John de Eure to be part of his barony of Stokesleye, and to have been in his possession ten weeks and more before the death of the said Guy; the said John having been dispossessed of the said manor by John le Irays, constable of Castle Barnard, the sheriff is commanded to make an inquiry into the said matters and to cite William la Zousche, who had married Alice, widow of the said Guy de Beauchamp, as the said manor had been assigned to her as dower. Two deeds by which Brian Stapilton, Thomas Colvill, David de . . . if, John de Pykeryng, William de Sproxton, and Robert de . . . grant their manors of Caul[ton?] and Southolme in Ridale to Alice de Kirkeby, which manors they had by feoffment of Thomas de Etton of Gilling. Eske (Yorkshire, East Riding) (manor), Burnsall (Yorkshire, West Riding), Conistone (Yorkshire, West Riding), Hebden Moorside (Yorkshire, West Riding), Hetton (Yorkshire, West Riding), Thorpe (Yorkshire, West Riding). Pentecost, 14 Ed. I (1286). . Grant from William, son and heir of William de Eboraco, kt., to Amand de Surdeval and Cecilia his wife, mother of the said William, his wife for dower, four bovates of land and three tofts in Esk with five serfs their chattels and belongings, together with the first gift of the moiety of the church of Brennesale in Craven, which Sir Richard de Knol had by gift of the said William's father in exchange for her dower in Craven, viz. in Coningstone, Hebbedenne, Brennesale, Heton, and in Thorp, saving certain serfs and lands to the said Amand and Cecilia, subject to an annual rent of 2s. 6d. to the said William, and a rent of 6s. to the lady Alicia la Chaumberlenk.

IV (1403). . Grant from John, lord Darcy of Menell, to Sir John de Melton, kt., Thomas Clarell, esq., John de Moore, rector of Beghton, Thomas Mapirlay, Robert Plomley, Elias de Blyth, and John Daunay, all lands and tenements, rents, etc., which were William Mortoyn's, in the villages of Gatburton and Lee, or elsewhere within the county of Lincoln, and in Hyrst, in the county of York, and in the villages of Retford in le Cley and Rampton, in the county of Nottingham, together with the whole of the ferry (cum toto passagio) beyond the Trent, called Lytylburgh fery. Dated at Gatburton. Subjoined is the power of attorney to Nicholas Daunay and John Grayne to deliver seisin to the said parties of the lands, etc. enumerated in the preceding charter. Dated at Gatburton on the same day as the grant (contemporary copy).

Letters patent, dated at Westminster, granting to the abbot of Jorevall a licence in mortmain to hold six messuages, one bovate, and 23 acres of land with appurtenances in Est Witton, Overelyngton, and Hoton-hang in the county of York, given by William de Thornton, vicar of Est Wytton, for providing a chaplain to celebrate daily in the church of B. M. of Jorevall for ever (mutilated).

Power of attorney from Gerard de Ufflete, kt, Gerard Sothill, John Kirkeby, and Thomas Spenser to Gilbert de Lincoln and Thomas Sandale to deliver seisin to Richard, son of Robert Haunsard, kt., and Joan his wife, of the manor of Blaktoft.

Agreement. Yorkshire (county). 1 August, 6 Ed. IV (1466). . Indenture made between Richard Welles, Lord Willoughby, knt., on the one part, and Robert Waterton, knight on the other, witnesses that whereas a grant has been made to Robert Flemmyng, dean of Lincoln, Thomas Dymmok, kt., and others, of the manors, lands, and tenements in the co. of York, which late they had with Lyon, late Lord Welles, kt., Walter Calverley, and Richard Waterton, of the demise of Gilbert Lee, Raynald Tynley, and Thomas Elys, to hold the same to them and their assigns for ever, nevertheless the said Richard Welles shall take one hundred marks yearly from the said manors, etc., until 27 obligations shall be fully paid (English).
