PRESTWICH. Letters patent of King William III, dated 23 Dec., 1682, granted to John Lake, bp. of Sodor and Man , to enable him to hold in commendam the rectory of Prestwich and the prebend of Fridathorp in St. Peter's church, York.

Licence from K. Rich. II to the abbey of Rieval to hold a messuage in York of the gift of Roger de Mereton, jun., a citizen of York, in mortmain, on payment of 20s. Dated at Westminster, 13 April, 3 Rich. II.

Convention between the prior of Monk Bretton of the one part and Robert de Poyngton , Dunstan de Dunstall and John Williamson of the other, by which the said prior grants to farm to Robert and John all their lands, &c. in the village and fields of Dunstall for 30 years, from the feast of St. Martin in the winter 1392, paying annually 16s. Dated at Monk Bretton on the feast of St. John Evang., 1392.

Martin, son of Ingeram de ('Nova haia') Newhay , with the counsel and consent of Agnes his wife and Richard his heir, grants to the church of St. Nicholas of Drax and the canons there, three acres of land in Neuhay, paying annually 3d. (c. 1200-10.) .

NOSTEL PRIORY. Richard, son of William the presbyter , and Beatrix his wife, daughter of Swen Gunne , for the health of their souls grant to the church of St. Oswald of Nostle, and to the work of the church and to the canons there, in frankalmoigne, one acre of land in Preston. (c. 1240-1250) .

Nicholas, son and heir of Ernesius ⟨ad Bar⟩ram de Walmegate , releases to Agnes de Wyten, prioress, and the nuns of St. Clement, York, his right and claim to all the lands and edifices in Walmegate in the suburbs of York, which his father held of them. (1280-82.) Witn. Richard de Komunlety, keeper of York .

Nicholas de la Lounde remits and quit-claims to the master and brethren of the hospital of Alverton all right in a common of fishpond near Thorneton. (c. 1270-1280 ?) .

BEVERLEY. John, son of Philip of London, burgess of Beverley , grants to John de Beverley, clerk, son of Petronilla Lambe , the whole of his edifice in Beverley; paying to him yearly 1d. and to the heirs of Peter de Salso Marisco 3s. (c. 1230-40.) .

GRIMESTON. Andrew de Grimeston, clerk, grants to Thomas de Grimeston, clerk, one piece of his close in Grimeston. Witness. Hugh, vicar of Garton, then dean of Holderness . (c. 1250-60.) .

Alice and Ysabella, daughters and heirs of Richard, son of Alan de Grymestone , confirm and quit-claim to Thomas de Grymestone, clerk, two bovates of land with a toft and croft in the village of Grymestone, which they held from the same Thomas, and which came to them from their father; and also all their right in one acre which Richard le Marchant bought of Alan the Miller . (c. 1260.) .

William, son of Ralph de Grymeston , grants to Thomas de Grymeston, clerk, a close in Grymeston, together with two ridges of meadow, a toft, croft, and two bovates of land in the same village. (c. 1250-1260.) .

GUTHMUNDHAM. Walter de Roclif of Barethorp , Thomas de Clyf, rector of the church of Guthmundham , and Hugh Colvell, chaplain, grant to Thomas de Grymestone of Guthemundham , one toft with a croft and bovate of land in le Romondflathe in Guthmundham between the manor of the late Gerard de Grymestone, knt. and a toft called Proctour place; and also one little platte of two acres in Esthorpe. Dated at Guthmundham, 29 May, 4 Hen. IV.

HEDON. John Chekym of Hedon grants to William, son of Stephen de Hedon and Agnes his wife, a messuage lying between a messuage of the said William on the west part and a messuage of the late Henry Brouneghe on the east; paying yearly 14d. to the service of B. Mary in the church of St. Augustine of Hedon. (c. 1280-1290.) .

Mutilated indenture, dated 5 July, 16 Hen. VIII, between sir Robert Ughtred, kt., of the one part, and Symon Webb of London , and William Challoner , of the other, witnesseth that the said sir Robert has sold to the said Symon and William his manors of Lepington and Barthorpe. Simon Webbe and William Chaloner grant to sir Henry Wyatt, kt., John Zowche of Codnours, knight, and others the manors of Lepyngton and Barthorp. Dated 20 July, 16 Hen. VIII.

Thomas Wyott , George Zowche , and William Webbe remit and quit-claim to Henry Wyott and John Zouche, kts., all right in the manors of Lepyngton and Barthorpe, and in lands &c. in Lepyngton, Barthorpe, and North Dalton. Dated 1 July, 18 Hen. VIII.

MALTON (Old), WICKHAM, YEASTROP, STOKESLEY, STOKESLEY MOORE, BAYSDAILE, WELHAM, and SUTTON. Grant of free warren by K. James I to Ralph Eure of New Malton, esq., for the above lands and manors. Dated 11 July, 17 James I.

NEUHAY. Henry de Steingreve grants to Robert Authendel one acre of land in Neuhay ("Nova haia"), rendering annually half a pound of cummin. (c. 1190-1200.) ,

Henry Staing[reve] , with the consent of Simon his brother and lord, grants to John, son of Waldigg the chaplain , 11 acres of his demesne in the marsh of Neuhay ("Nova haga") and 7 acres above Fultac, paying annually one lb of pepper and one of cummin. (c. 1200-10.) .

Henry, son of Alice de Neuhay, daughter of Henry de Stainegrive , quit-claims to Richard de Happlesthorp the whole of her land in the territory of Neuhay ("Nova haya"), which the said Richard has by charter from the said Alice. (c. 1230-40.) .

FARMANDBY, ESTHALGARTH, THORNETON, ELLERBURNE, PYKERING, and THURKYLBY. Indenture made 15 December, 20 Henry VII, between sir Edward Hastyngs, kt., lord des Hastings and Hungerford, son and heir of sir William Hastyngs, kt., late lord de Hastyngs , deceased, sir Thomas Frowyk, kt., chief justice, and Thomas Jakes , of the one part, and Geoffrey Symeon, dean of St. George's, Windsor , and the canons of the same, of the other part, reciting the foundation of a chantry by the said William lord Hastyngs for the souls of himself and Katherine his wife and others in the chapel of St. George's, Windsor, and endowing the same with lands of the annual value of £20. but because the specified land do not amount to £20 per annum in Hil. term 17 Henry VII, but only to £18 6., the said Edward now gives an annual rent charge of 35s. from his manor of Alberston Yorkshire, for the said purposes; and Frowyk and Jakes appoint John Hastyngs, gent., and Ralph Crawcetone their attorneys to give him seisin. Matilda, daughter and heir of Thomas, son of Geoffrey de Pontefract , widow, grants to Thomas her son for a sum of money 14 acres of arable land lying in the fields of Pontefract and Preston. Jakelyn. Dated at Pontefract the Monday next after Palm Sunday, 1328.

PIKERINGLYTH. Final concord made at Westminster in the octaves of St. Hilary, 20 Ed. II, and on the quindene of St. Trin., 1 Edw. III, before the king's justices, between John de Crayk, parson of Spofford , and sir Gilbert de Aton, kt., concerning the manors of Aton, Hoton Buscell, Wyntryngham, and Grumpton in Pykerynglyth, conveying them to the said Gilbert and his heirs.

SETON. William le Wasteneys, lord of Bressingburg , appoints Richard de Herelthorp and William Attebrende his attorneys to place sir John de Lalford in full and peaceable possession of all the lands and tenements &c. which the said William has in the village of Setone. Dated at Coltone in co. Stafford, the Monday next after the feast of St. Andrew, 4 Ed. II.

SUTTON. Stephen Lungespee grants to Philip de Wappele 17½ acres and one rood of arable land in the fields of Sutton, and one half-acre of meadow. (c. 1270.) .
