Gazeley. 1272. Lease from William Tillop and his wife to Alexander Bateman, for one mark, paid as fine, of 3 half-acres of arable land in the vill of Gaysle, lying in the field called Wetecrofte, between the lands of Dom. William le Bowle and Walter, son of the late Alexander (Taylor) of Gazeley (Gaysle) , and abutting on the fee of Multone, and on the land of the prior of Stochis; rendering yearly 1 lb. of wax at Christmas to the church of Gaysle, and 1/2 lb. to the church of Kentford (Kentefords), and 3 d. to the canons of Teford, 1.5 d. at Michaelmas, and 1.5 d. at Easter. Dated, 57 Hen. III [between 28 Oct. and 16 Nov. 1272]. Witnesses: John le Beuelere, Walter the Clerck, William Warin, Hugh le Warnir, Robert Passelewe, Robert de Bosco, and many others. The two seals are wanting.

Gazeley. 1365. Grant from Henry ate Fen of Gaislee, to John Ikedy, chaplain, Walter the clerck, and John Fyche, of all his lands, tenements and rights of pasture and foldage, in the vills of Gaislee, Needham Street (Nedham by Gaislee), Kentford (Kenteforde), Moulton (Multone), and Monk Soham (Daham [Saham]). Dated at Gaisle on Friday [12 Sept.] before the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, 39 Ed. III [1365]. Witnesses: John Bunting, Edmund Bunting, John ate Howe, James Mose, John Mose, and others. The seal is wanting.

Gazeley. 1381. Release from Christiana, widow of William Brochslan of Clare to Robert of Kedytone, Richard Perfey, and Geoffrey Brochole, of her right in the lands and tenements formerly in the possession of the said William, John Talmage and Agnes Nichole, in the vills and fields of Needham Street (Nedham), Gayslee, Kentford (Kenteforde), Kennett (Kenyt), and Moulton (Multone). Dated at Clare on Sunday [22 Dec.] after the feast of St Thomas Apostle, 5 Richard II [1381]. Endorsed. "Nicoles in Nedham." The seal is wanting.

Kentford. 1314. Grant from Thomas 'Syro' and Jueta his wife, of Needham Street (Nedham), to Walter Priour, Petronella his wife, and John their son, of two acres of arable land in Kenteforde called Schortelond, between the land of the prioress and convent of Marham and that required by the said Walter from the said Thomas and abutting on the meadow of the said Walter called Smalemedwe. Dated at Needham Street (Nedham), on Tuesday [12 Nov] after thefeast of St Martin, 8 Edw. II [1314]. Witnesses. Walter le Mercer, Gilbert le Marseah, John ate Berwe, John Howe, Ralph (Townsend) 'ad capud ville', Thomas Beylard, and others. The 2 seals are wanting.

Kentford. 1355. Grant from John Balle of Kentford (Kenteforde) to John Fyche of Higham (Heiham), and Alice his wife, of 6 acres of arable land in the fields of Kenteforde, between the land of the said John Balle, and that once held by Robert of Abbethorpe, and extending from the road called 'le Waterweye' to the common heath of Kenteforde and Needham Street (Nedham). Dated at Kentford (Kenteforde), Thursday the feast of the Ascension, 29 Ed. III [14 May, 1355] Witnesses: John Bunting, Edmund Bunting, John Hosteler, Alexander Sperlyng, John Gibbe, and others. The seal is wanting.

Needham Street (Needham-Street). 1302-1303. Grant from John de Beuelers of Needham Street (Nedham) to Walter Persoun of Moulton (Multone) and Beatrice his wife, for a certain sum of money, of half the lands and tenements held by him in the parish of Gazeley (Gaysle), with a messuage in the vill of Nedham, lying next to the messuage of William Berelowe, abutting on the highway and lying next to the Derenyngge road; of the land in the crofts, 3.5 acres lie at the upper part next to the land of William Sperlyng, abutting on the said Walter's messuage; half an acre lies in another croft, next to William Sperlyng's land, and abutting on his messuage; 1.5 acres lie on Gayslehel, next to the land of William Sperlyng, abutting at both ends on the land of the Earl of Gloucester; 1 acre lies in Heynhowe next to the land of William Sperlyng, abutting on the land of Robert (Smith) 'Fabri'; in Merebak lie 1.5 acres, next tot he land of William Sperlyng, and abutting on the land of John Crystemasse; in Punchefeld lie 3 acres at the upper part next to the land of William Sperlyng, and abutting on the land of Humfrey of Lacforde; in Wytefeld lie 3.5 acres at the upper part, next to the land of William Sperlyng, and abutting on the highway; in Weyercroft lies half an acre next to the land of William Sperlyng, and abutting on the highway; half an acre in the same lies next tot he land of William Sperlyng, abutting in land of Walter Persoun; 2.5 acres lie next to the land of William Sperlyng, and abut on Suht Heth; one acre, next to and abutting on the land of the same; in Karemere lie 1 acre and 1 rood, next to the land of William Sperlyng, adn abutting on 'Karemere pettes'; in Hauedlond lies half an acre next to the land of William Sperlyng, and abutting on the land of Robert (Smith) 'Fabri'; in Mereback lies 1 rood next to 'le felde weye', abutting on the land of John Kersoner. With these lands is the right of foldage bought from Alexander le Beneler of Gazeley (Gaysle), in the fields of Gazeley (Gaysle), Needham Street (Nedham), and Kentford (Kenteford). Dated at Needham Street (Nedham) on Monday [11 March] before the feast of St Gregory, Pope. 31 Ed. I [1302-1303]. Needham Street (Needham-Street). 1359 . Grant from Alexander Wlphale, to William atte Fen of Needham Street (Nedham), and Agnes his wife, of 4 acres of arable land in the fields of Nedham and Kentford (Kenteforde), of which one acre lies next to the land of Dom. William of Claptone, with one end abutting on the land of Robert Berkelowe; two acres lie at Walkerescroftes next to the land of Dom. William Talemache, with one end abutting on 'le Waterweye'; and one acre lies in the same field next to the land of Alexander Sperlynge, also abutting on 'le Waterweye'. Dated, at Needham Street (Nedham) on Sunday before the feast of St Martin, Bishop and Confessor, 22 Ed. III [10 Nov., 1359] Witnesses: Robert Berkelowe, William Aumener, John Smyth of Needham Street (Nedham), Edmund Buntynge, John Gen of Kentford (Kenteforde), and others. The seal is wanting.

Needham Street (Needham-Street). 1385. Release from William Farewelle, parson of Great and Little Chesterford (Chesterforde [Essex]), Richard Smythe, parson of Suthrleye [Lincoln], William Parkere, parson of the church of Llanwenarth (Llanwaynarde [Monmouth]), and John Freberne of Fulbourn (Fulburne [Cambridge]), jun., to Thomas Persone of Nedham, and Margaret his wife, of all lands, tenements, etc. claimed by the said grantors in Needham Street (Nedham), Kentford (Kenteforde), and Higham (Heigham), which they had from Thomas of Heigham, and which once belonged to William [mutilation] Dated at Needham Street (Nedham) on Monday the feast of St Edmund, King, 9 Ric. II [20 Nov., 1385] Witnesses: Robert Warner, Geoffrey Chapman, Richard Ilgere, John Haumener, Geoffrey Mellere, and others. Endorsed: Carta facta Thome Baldoke. The seal is wanting. Mutilated.
