CHALGRAVE, Oxon. Mutilated record of the differences and suits between the abbey and convent of Thame as appropriators of the church of Chalgrave, and Ralph de Stretle, rector of Fleetmarston , concerning the tithes payable out of the rectory of Fleetmarston to the rector of Chalgrave. Dated at Lamehuth [i.e. Lambeth], 3 Ides July, 1321. (In 2 pieces.) .

John, the abbot of the monastery of the Blessed Virgin of Thame , has received of master John Kirkby, vicar of Chalgrave, 53s. 4d. for the farm of the rectory of Chalgrave. Dated 16 Feb., 10 Hen. VII.

CHALGRAVE. Articles of agreement between the dean and chapter of Christ Church and Roger Quatermayn of Chalgrave, co. Oxon, yeoman, of the one part, and William Standisshe of Oxford, gent., of the other part, agreed 16 May, 3rd Q. Elizabeth, to abide the award of Edmund Plowden as to how far the portion of tithes called Becco herlewyn or Beckharvest tithes in Chalgrave do extend and be leviable; with bond for 100 given by William Standisshe attached.

CHALGROVE. Commission of John, bp. of Lincoln , appointing judges to determine a cause in which Nicholas de Lichfield is plaintiff, and Bonacursus de Fryscobaldis , is defendant, concerning the presentation to the church of Chalgrave. Dated March 1313. [Mutilated.] .

Proceedings in a suit heard before Benedict de Feriby, rector of Broughton, commissary of John, bp. of Lincoln , concerning the church of Chalgrave, between Nicholas de Lychfeld , presented to Chalgrave church, and Bonacursus de Fryscobaldis , incumbent. Dated 1313.

Chalgrove. Letters patent of Edward I granting the advowson of Chalgrove to the abbey of Thame, for the support of the 6 monks there, and that they may pray daily for the soul of Piers Gaveston, Earl of Cornwall, who died in the abbey. Given at Wodestok. By writ of P.S. 29 June ⟨1317.⟩

Chalgrove. Confirmation by Walter, abp. of Canterbury , of a sentence pronounced by Master Richard de Hunsingore, official of the archdeacon of Oxford , and dated 5 Kal. April, 1320, against Ralph, rector of Fletmerston at the suit of Thame Abbey concerning tithes coming from the lands of Sir John Neyrunt, kt., and Robert Verney , in Fletmerston, as well as from the lands of Sir William Blount, kt., in the same, all pertaining to the church of Chalgrove. Walter had authorized the official to proceed against Ralph de Stretle , then rector, by letters dated at Selby 2 Kal. March 1309. Given at Lamebeth. ⟨29 June⟩ 1321.

16 May ⟨1561.⟩ Agreement in English between the dean and canons of Windsor (with their bond in Latin, of 100 marks) and Ch. Ch., by which they agree to keep the award made by Edmund Plowden Esq., touching the tithes called Beckharvest-tithes in Chalgrove. (See MS. Ch.
