The Risley Papers comprise papers of the Barber, Cotton and Risley families, 1486-1910; also additional papers of the Risley family, 1682-1910. The papers were deposited in the Bodleian Library in 1957, 1959 and 1980; Additional Risley Papers were deposited in Oxfordshire County Record Office through the British Records Association in 1953, and transferred to the Bodleian Library in 1980. Included in this catalogue is material from: MSS. D. D. Risley a. 1, c.1-3, 15-27, 31-47, 50-7, 61-2, 73-4, 76, deeds relating to properties in Oxfordshire; Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, Worcestershire, Buckinghamshire and some to Monmouthshire, Gloucestershire and London; marriage settlements and manorial records, also some records relating to lawsuits and taxation; wills and financial papers.
