This collection consists of deeds and papers relating to Ewelme, Oxfordshire, 14th cent.-1975, including papers relating to the Ewelme Almshouse Charity, founded in 1437 when William de la Pole, Earl of Suffolk, established an almshouse in the village. The papers were deposited in the Bodleian Library at various dates between 1947 and 1983. The full range of shelfmarks is: MSS. D.D. Ewelme a. 1-8, b. 1-19, c. 1-170, d. 1-56, 3. 1-4.

Included in the present catalogue is the following material: papers relating to the almhouse estates in Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Wiltshire and Oxfordshire, particularly deeds; and manorial court rolls, court books, accounts, rentals and surveys.
