NETTLESTEAD. Sir Richard Wentworth, kt., grants to Edward White , esq., for his good counsel to the said sir Richard and to his son Thomas, an annuity of 26s. 8d. charged on his manor of Nettlestead (Nettlested) in Nettlestead (Nettlested). Dated 25 March, 11 Hen. VIII (1520).

STONHAM ASPAL. William Feldgate of Stonham Aspal and others grant to John Crane(?) and others a messuage in the village of Stonham Aspal. Dated at Stonham Aspal, 15 October, 19 Hen. VII (1503). [Much rubbed.]

Robert Crane, esq., and others grant to William Wareyn of Stonham Aspal (Stonham Aspall) and two others, a messuage and croft called Smethis in the village of Stonham Aspal (Stonham Aspall), in trust for William Wareyne. Dated at Stonham Aspal (Stonham Aspall), 10 October, 4 Hen. VIII (1512).

STONHAM EARL, CREETING ST. MARY, and CREETING ST. OLAVE. Indenture made 28 Jan., 21 Hen. VII (1506), by which Charles Knevett, esq. of Little Stonham (Stonham Gernegan) lets to farm to Philip Gyssyng of Earl Stonham (Stonham County), two tenements in Earl Stonham (Stonham Cunti) and Creeting St Olave (Creeting St. Olave), called Thornys and Brydnellys, and a close lying in Earl Stonham (Stonham Cuntti) and Creeting St Mary (Creting St. Mary) called Norwey; for 30 years, paying annually 20s.

Robert Crane, esq., and Robert Crane his son and heir, grant to Robert Blomfold, sen., two pieces of land, parcel of the manor of Flude Hall with Waltham (Waltonhall), and lying in Little Stonham, co. Suffolk. Dated at Little Stonham, 20 March, 31 Hen. VIII (1540).

William Jakson and John Gro... grant to John Johnes (?) and Mary his wife certain land in Ashby (Askeby). Dated at Ashby (Askeby), 23 June ... Hen. VIII. (c. 1510-1520) [Mutilated and partly obliterated.]

John Walle of Ashby (Askeby) grants to Margery Boys, widow, and others, a tenement with a croft and three pieces of land in Ashby (Askeby). Dated at Ashby (Askeby), 8 December, 7 Hen. VIII (1515).

Katherine Wylton of Ashby, widow, remits and quit-claims to John Nabbys of Ashby and others, all her right in two pieces of ground and a tenement in Ashby (Asshby). Dated 3 November, 22 Hen. VIII (1530).

Gregory Nabbys of Lound, son and heir of Peter Nabbys, demises to John Sugges of Somerleyton and others two pieces of land in Ashby (Assheby). Dated at Ashby (Assheby), 30 January, 19 Hen. VIII (1528),

Draft of an indenture (mutilated) dated 25 Feb., .. (2 or 3 Hen. VIII), by which dame Elinor Jenney of Theberton demises to Peter Nabbys her manor of Ashby (Askeby) for vij years, from Mich(elmas) 2 Henry VIII next coming at an annual rent of vi marks.

⟨Ashby⟩. Gregory, John and Robert Nobbus grant to Robert Jannyn of Theberton, William Ayliff, and others, a messuage and six pieces of land. Dated 10 November, .. Hen. VIII.

John Manne, William Palmer, Robert Candler, Richard Watson, and Robert Swanne grant to John Jernegan, William Drury, Robert Drury, and John Appylton two pieces of arable land lying in a certain field called Wykerfeld in Ashby (Asshby), co. Suffolk, in exchange for four pieces of land in Lound, co. Suffolk. Dated at Ashby (Asshby), 20 January, 24 Hen. VIII (1533).

Indenture dated 20 March, 25 Hen. VIII (1534), between sir John Spelman, kt., of the one part, and sir John Jernegan, kt., of the other, reciting a proposed marriage between George Jernegan, esq., son of the above John, and Ela, one of the daughters of the said sir John Spelman, with settlement of lands in consideration of the same.

Final concord, dated at Westminster, June 26 Hen. VIII (1534), by which John Jernegan and others are acknowledged by William Kingeston, kt., and Mary his wife, to be the owners of the manor and advowson of Ashby, for which acknowledgment the said John and others gave £100 sterling.

John Jernegan, knt., grants to sir Thomas Bedyngfeld, kt., and others, his manor, lands, rents, &c. in Ashby (Asshby), Lound, and Herringfleet (Heryngfleete), in accordance with a marriage settlement dated 20 March, 25 Hen. VIII (1534), by which his son George is contracted in marriage to Ela, daughter of John Spelman, knt.. Dated 8 Sept., 26 Hen. VIII (1534).

Sir John Jernegan, kt., confirms to Robert Skottowe of Ashby (Askeby) in exchange six pieces of land lying in Ashby (Askeby). Dated at Ashby (Askeby), 16 March, 31 Hen. VIII (1540).

Recital (?) of a grant by Margaret ... to her sister, Joan Moore, wife of Richard Moore, of all her right &c. in certain parcels of land lying in Ashby (Askeby). Dated 4 October, 38 Hen. VIII (1546). [Partly effaced.]

Alicia and Agnes, daughters of Robert Skottowe late of Ashby (Askeby), and sisters of Thomas Skottowe, deceased, sell to William Stanton of Somerleyton a messuage &c. in Ashby (Askeby). Dated 10 June, 7 Ed. VI (1553).

Ralph Walle, son and heir of John Walle, late of Aldeby, deceased, grants to Richard Meze of Ashby (Askeby), sen., a messuage or tenement in Ashby (Askeby). Dated at Ashby (Askeby), 2 January, 3 Elizabeth (1561).

Illegible grant of land in Ashby (Askbie) from William Sygooze to John .... Dated at Ashby (Askeby), 25 October, 21 Elizabeth (1579). [Almost entirely effaced.]

Indenture dated 4 Oct., 33 Elizabeth (1591), by which John Wentworth of Somerleyton, gent., demises to Thomazen Cowper of Ashby (Asheby) his fish-house in Ashby and his two ponds on the east part of the said house, and also a certain whorde called the old whorde belonging to the manor of Ashby, and the waters in Ashby (Asheby), Herringfleet (Heringflete), and Lound, for 10 years, for specified large quantities of fish, or else at an annual rent of 46s. 8d.

Bond in £160 from Thomas Moore of Ashby (Askeby), husbandman, to John Wentworth of Somerleyton for securing the sale of a tenement and certain lands in Ashby (Askeby). Dated 6 October, 38 Elizabeth (1596).

Thomas Moore of Ashby (Askeby), in consideration of £70, sells to John Wentworth, esq. of Somerleyton (Somerleton) the half of a tenement, croft and land in Ashby (Askeby), and also the half of other pieces of land in Askeby. Dated 6 October, 1596.

Thomas Jernegan, gent. and Elizabeth his wife of the parish of St Martin in the Fields (St. Martin Charing Cross), for a certain sum of money in hand paid, grant to John Jernegan of Somerleyton (Somerleton), his brother, the whole of their capital messuage in Ashby (Askeby). Dated 30 May, 18 Elizabeth (1576).
